Most of the libraries inside The Blue Line(Adirondack Park) are charming artifacts of a bygone era. They are small and beautiful, built when civic pride demanded that buildings reflect grace and craftsmanship, not low-bid utility. Thus, Wells Memorial Library, a fine example of what we once were and a template of hope for what we can aspire to. It’s small, elegant, and the librarian appears to be honored just to work there — probably as a volunteer! This is a perfect place to escape a cold winter afternoon and read in a peaceful setting.
