This place is great. Awesome menu with great choices with very reasonable prices. The only draw back is on some nights they have a bunch of college kids playing volleyball right off their deck. So, if you are looking for a quiet deck experience, you will not find it there.

I love this restaurant it’s pretty much is the only farm to table place around. They have a garden out back where most of the veggies come from and everything is so fresh its awesome. Staff is usually very friendly and helpful except when there short staffed but that’s completely understandable. Portion size is normally pretty good and so are the prices. I enjoy this place alot and definitely will be back.

Service and food is excellent. They don’t change their menu that often, but everything they make is from scratch and is well worth the price. They have a number of excellent vegetarian options.

Amazing local spot for homemade goodness. I had the pot roast and it ranks among the best I have ever had in my life(sorry mom). Seriously. It’s «Boston» good. I’m a snob and I was very impressed by the quality of the food my wife and had. Outdoor eating, love music, good food, and great prices. Not much more I can ask for 5 miles from my house.

Bar too small… bartender was busy texting and talking to friends in the corner rather than wait on new people., After I stated it was my 2nd visit to this place –hoping to have a better time than the first they could have cared less. I used to be in the business and if a customer came back to give me a 2nd shot I would go out of my way to please them. These people could care less. . Couldnt offer us any ideas on what to have. Food was cold. Was hoping this place was going to be great, but really disappointed.

I don’t think there is anything on the menu that’s bad. Everything is outstanding! Love the atmosphere and environment. The outside dining section is awesome. Too the night off with icecream next door.

Went to red rock twice now since I moved to the area. I’m impressed every time!!! Nothing to complain about here. I had the buffalo burger and the chicken wrap. It was great. Awesome place to bring the family.

THE cleanest dishes I have ever ate off of. The kitchen staff is absolutely remarkable! Loved the panini and lobster mac. A great place to get a burger that is actually cooked to order! Have been many times and am always satisfied. Sherry and Russ, the owners, are very friendly and always have time to say hi when we are there. Great place, great atmosphere and great food. Highly recommended! Good 2 Go has amazing sundaes!!! Truly delicious and creamy ice cream. Love this place!

Came in today with 2 friends for Brunch. This was my first time but they had been before and raves about it. We made reservations just in case but we could have shown up without one and wouldn’t have waited long at all. Service was quick & friendly. Brunch drink specials were great, food specials were interesting, overall pretty good. Not sure when the next time I’ll be in Upton will be but if I have the opportunity I would absolutely go again.

I’m giving this place 4 stars for what it is – a solid, mid-range restaurant(pricewise), with a great waitstaff, solid food, varied but not over the top menu, and a nice casual ambience that’s good for families. I have found these things difficult to find within a half hour drive of where we recently moved — Hopkinton — which is a beautiful place but kind of a dead zone for a lot of things including restaurants(shortly after we arrived, I amused my wife by showing her a map of local restaurants on Unilocal — there’s a solid belt amounting to 10 – 15 minutes of driving around us composed exclusively of residential and state parks). Red Rock — about 20 minutes away, just north of the Upton town center, which for us is «close» was recommended to us by friends as a good place to take family. Like most restaurants in MA for a family from Charlotte, NC, it seems a bit on the pricey side, but it is definitively not so for this area — 10 – 25 for entrees, with most in the mid to upper teens, and plenty of casual options like sandwiches around 10. We got a full meal, with a la carte salads(which were good), entrées for two parents, drinks, kids meals, and a very, very large dessert that we split for under 100 with a generous tip reflecting the wonderful service we received. I’m not really a foodie, honestly, so I’m not going to get into great, specific detail about the food, other than to say it was good, not overly salty but flavorful(again, an exceptional thing for this area — we’ve found plenty of the non-flavorful and overly salty, sometimes both), hearty, and creative in a down to earth way that works well if you want a nice night out but want to order without scratching your head and taking risks. I had a «boursin burger» with herbed boursin cheese, and carmelized onions. My wife made a comment along the lines of «that’s a heck of a lot of boursin cheese» but I was happy. She had a penne pasta with Bolognese sauce that was solid, and had nice chunks of vegetables in it, unusual for that sauce like carrot(again, not being a foodie, I suspect this may horrify purists). Salads were solid, homemade dressings, homemade croutons. Cons: my sweet potato fries seemed from frozen, as did one of the two kids meals(chicken strips and fries). My other daughter got a bowl of chili that seemed ok but uninspired, and oddly huge for a kids meal — she’s a very hearty eater, and had maybe a third of it, and not because she didn’t like it. The service — at least the service we received — could not have been better. The waitress said it was a slow night, so aspect of the experience could vary over time. We are definitely going back as from our perspective this place was a solid four stars, somewhere we could actually get in without waiting an hour, and good to take our kids, basically a godsend in what we’ve found to be a bit of a restaurant wasteland. I started out by giving it five stars but then thought«be reasonable» — it’s not going to make any top ten lists, I don’t think. Just good, which for us is good enough. :) Oh, it was Saturday, and they had live music that was a bit loud, but good –two kids, good voices, interesting electronic equipment(an electric cello), kind of a Wilco meets Jeff Buckley doing covers of Alternative Top 40 thing going on. Again, some may be horrified, but I liked.

I want so bad to like Red Rock. It’s a clean, nice kept restaurant and during the Summer, with the volleyball pit, it can be really fun. However the food is mediocre at it’s best. I went there for dinner this past Sunday and ordered the Crispy Chicken Salad. Last time I had been here was Father’s Day and I had some grilled chicken special. Both times I have been disappointed. The salad was all iceberg and they did not even bother to take out the huge chunks of the core. The corn bread crotons which are a favorite of mine were burnt, dry and not even slightly enjoyable. Yet I paid $ 12… The chicken special I barely remember(which says something) I just remember paying close to $ 15 and still being hungry after eating. My boyfriend and his friend had the Duck, which the waitress recommended as one of the restaurant’s best… yuck. And I love duck! The maple glaze was too much and it completely took away from the genuine taste of duck. Not to mention, they didn’t pair it with one thing savory! Everything was overly sweet. And they don’t offer soup or salad with a dinner that is $ 22, seriously? Over-priced and mediocre food. Hopefully they change things up, this place could be good!

I’ve been here a handful of times. My brother lives in the area and he brings his family here once a week. It’s a great place to bring kids. The service is really friendly. It’s the best restaurant in the area but it’s also the only restaurant in the area, so it can be crowded and sometimes you have to wait. The black bean burger with sweet potato fries is my favorite meal to order. The Fish Fry and the Grilled Eggplant & Crispy Polenta Stack are good also. They don’t mind when my brother asks to add chicken to the vegetable pasta dish and they also have a variety of hot sauces to choose from if you’re into that sort of thing.

Long overdue review. We went for brunch a couple weeks ago. So packed, we had to park across the street! We found seating at the bar area, where we got cocktails while we waited for our table for 6. Good luck choosing a brunch cocktail, because they all look delicious! While I opted for the Brown Bear(brown ale, vanilla vodka, and Kahlua), my boyfriend got the make your own bloody mary. They give you a glass with vodka and ice, you fill in the rest! We were all seated shortly after. Our server was wonderful. I ordered the vegetarian dish with a veggie burger(awesome!) 2 other friends got the huge, overnight stuffed french toast. Boyfriend got the veggie omlette which he devoured right away. If you don’t mind waiting a few minutes for a table, try their brunch! You get free lemon poppy bread while you wait :)

Many restaurants could learn from this restaurant. An amazing selection of unique meals, including duck with many vegetarian selections that are not of the usual, «primavera» and«veg burger» selections. although the latter is offered but in a creative way. The food was excellent and served with great presentation. Great cod fish and chips. The server was personable, helpful and a huge step above from what we have seen. The staff here appear to work as a team. The place is pleasant to sit at and is very clean. The draft beer selection was accommodating and the bottle selection was generous. I would like to see more microbreweries but overall, this is the place to go to if you are in the area.

A true hidden gem in Upton! I’m from Hopkinton and I never travel to that side of town, but I had to give it a try! So glad I did! The wait staff is so friendly and they joke with you all the time. They were so much fun! You get a real homey feel when you’re in there. I went for brunch and got there 5 min before 10am, which was a good idea because there was a huge line around 10:30! I absolutely love the Bloody Mary bar! My waiter gave me so much vodka lol I definitely got a good buzz off of just one! My friends got mimosas and they loved them as well. Our meals consisted of the veggie omelette, kielbasa Benedict and some meatloaf egg dish with a side of pancakes! Yes, we were hungry and we devoured all of it haha superb! I have to come here for lunch/dinner!

Been here 2x. Amazing both times. Good service, and a menu with a host of inspired fare. Soups homemade daily, veggies & herbs grown in gardens on site(today I tried a tomato & tarragon bisque made from tomatoes & onions grown out back!), and imagination & variety that’ll knock your socks off. Today we had 4 diners. 2 kids, 2 adults. We wanted lighter fare, so we opted for soups, salads & sandwiches. Everything was beautifully presented & full on taste and fresh ingredients. All the sandwiches were served with a side of fresh dressed field greens(yum!). I opted for an eggplant & mozzarella sandwich on ciabatta. It was fantastic. Fresh tomatoes, thick sliced eggplant and mozzarella, and a garlicky aioli that melded perfectly. My dining companion chose a panini that was perfectly pressed and absolutely stuffed with meats & those fresh tomatoes(you know the type: super red, full of flavor, and low acid taste.) the kids had a burger and Mac n cheese. PS: They wouldn’t be caught dead serving that orange Kraft carp here. My 2 yo devoured the elbows, which were drenched in a thick creamy sauce that was chock-full of cheese. We will absolutely return.

Went here on a Sunday. Our waiter was cool, joked around with us a bit and had a good personality. It must have been really slow because the waiters kept sitting down at a table with two ladies who were talking about doing a little«day drinking». I think one may have been a manager or shift lead because someone was talking to them about scheduling. My salad was good, my boyfriends sandwich was good but the fries were very sub par. The most frustrating part about the whole meal was that the fire alarm kept going off and everyone just kept acting like it was no big deal… they would go push the button and joke about it then 5 minutes later it would go off again. My biggest issue was when the fire department showed up… Let me make this clear… I did not have a problem with the fire department showing up to check the alarm, I had a problem with the table of waiters/manager talking about how«firefighters are supposed to be hot» and«where are all of the calendar fire fighters?». How RUDE can you be? Its like 90 degrees out and these poor guys are wearing all their gear and coming in to check and make sure that the place is safe for YOU to work, so please forgive them if maybe theyre a bit sparkly with sweat. Yeah… I wont be going back here.

All right Red Rock, I’ve eaten in you five times now and for whatever reason, you keep being awesome. Whatever. I guess it’s just WHOYOUARE. Great gluten free options, Paleo Menu Thursdays(and you can tweak their dinners however you need to), delicious homemade everything, tasty cocktails, and very pleasant servers. Eat your first time: DEVILEDEGGS(get naughty, not haughty) I had a Jurassic Juice, essentially it was Jungle Juice with some liberties taken, and it was so good it was dangerous. That was a special cocktail, but I’ll bet they could make it again if one asked nicely. Good for carnivores: They cook their red meat the way you ask. Portions are reasonable. You should be able to fit dessert. Nice wine pairings. Again, Paleo Thursdays. Vegetarians will enjoy: The salads(fresh and BIG) There are at least three vegetarian entrée items at any one time Dessertitarians will like: Their desserts Or, the ice cream next door, with HUGE brownies and fancy cupcake flavors for sale It gets busy even on Tuesday and Wednesday nights. A tad pricey, but I think the CONSISTENT quality is worth it. I don’t have to wonder if I’ll get a good meal, if the chef is on his/her game, if the service will suck/soar — you will get the same quality every time. Hence, you must go. Don’t drive too fast or you might pass it — or worse, slam on your brakes as you’re ¾ past it and cause an accident. Don’t be that guy.

What a great little find in the middle of nowhere! And the prices are great too. The place gets packed — and their dining room really isn’t that big. When we got there the table wasn’t big enough for all 7 of us and a baby — not to worry our waiter whipped another table out of nowhere. Their menu has a good variety of items ranging from chicken pot pie spring rolls with gravy dipping sauce to burgers to meatloaf to grilled salmon. I couldn’t choose between the beer and jalapeño roasted pot roast and the meatloaf — when I told the waiter this he said he would surprise me. I ended up with the pot roast and loved it — it was better than home cooked — the only thing I wished is it that it maybe came with carrots or more veggies. Everyone I was with loved their meals … as if you couldn’t tell by all the empty plates. Our waiter was great and very helpful. The only negative to the night was him trying to rush us when we were done. We were getting together after not seeing each other for a while and wanted to hang, chat and hold the cute baby… he was clearing our water glasses before we were even finished with them. The parking lot is tiny. They do a brunch on Sunday — heard it is really good and will definitely be back to try it. They also have live music on Saturday nights. In warmer weather they have a really nice outdoor seating area.
