We lived here for 3 years — and will miss Bill, Jerry, and Patty.(We didn’t see John Gillespie much or the other accountant guy but kudos to them as well.) They were great! They were quick to respond to maintenance requests… usually the very next day. Jerry, the all around handy man, is super nice and personible. They were responsive even if you called them on the weekend.(We did that at least twice.) They even checked in with us to see if our internet(which they provided) was working, after nonbusiness hours. After hearing from friends about their landlord experiences, we’re immensely grateful to have lived here. They are very responsive and have a reasonable idea of what a livable unit means. Our 2br townhouse was one of the partially renovated units… meaning there was no gap time between tenants to do a reno. The 70s linoleum, and appliances from that era(including a trash compactor) did give us a bit off a price break on rent. And when the washer and stove broke down, they did replace them in a timely way. We loved living here.

I’ve live at Colorado oaks for four years. It is a great place to live. The apartments are the best I’ve seen and are very comparable to the luxury apartments in Champaign at much lower prices(currently $ 450). Accessible by two bus lines. Free internet and cable. On-site parking. Key necessary to enter building.

I spent two years at their Carriage Way property at Green & Busey(2006 – 2008), and still rave about this landlord. Yes, the apartments are a bit old — though we got new kitchen cabinets, appliances, and flooring prior to move-in — but they are impeccably maintained by the full-time maintenance man(Jerry). The bedrooms were tiny in our place, but the main living space was huge, and they were one of the only landlords that we found with 5 bedroom/1.5 bath units. Plus, the rent included cable & internet, and(with a few exceptions) the internet speeds were generally very decent. One of the perks of renting from a small landlord in Chambana is that you get real, honest-to-goodness service. When you call the office, you can almost always speak directly to Bill(the Property Manager) or John Gillespie(the owner). Every maintenance request that we submitted was handled by the next business day(and often, the same day). Overall, if you’re looking for a quality landlord in Champaign-Urbana, you can’t do much better than Gillespie.
