Decided to give this place a try and glad we did. Prices are reasonable, we went during lunch on Saturday. We had a cheeseburger with fries and a 6oz sirloin steak with baked potato. Cheeseburger and fries were very good. Steak was perfect. Had a great flavor and cooked as requested. Good service. We were glad we stopped and next time we are in Uvalde, we plan to come back.

This place is nice for a small town. I ordered the grilled chicken and was seasoned very well. The staff was friendly too. The people I was with also enjoyed their steaks and chicken.

it started well and service seemed decent. order the tator appetizers and loved them, but my main meal was terrible. I ordere the filet mignon cooked to medium. it was tough, poorly seasoned, cook to well done on one end and rare on the other… I could not beleive how poorly cooked this was. I left almost all of it on the plate. server never asked how it was, never asked if I want to take it with me. it was obvious she knew it wasnt good… one star because of how much I liked the tators… other then that order at your own risk.

While on vacation I stopped at Jack’s for a steak and was pleasantly surprised by the food and service. It was anything out of the ordinary except that it was in such a small town. The steak was cooked medium rare but was a little to overcooked for my liking. The salad was good but nothing exceptional. In the end I wish I had ordered the chicken fried steak which everyone else got and really loved.

Jack’s provides a pleasant dining experience. The restaurant itself has a comfortable atmosphere. The quality of the steak was average, service was superior. Although I did not partake, they seem to have a nice wine list.

Bacon-wrapped filet mignons cooked medium rare with a side of grilled shrimp !! Best baked potato I’ve tried! Cozy atmosphere with low lighting, hospitable attitude. Bottled beer, wide selection of wine.

I would say this place has a fairly vast menu. Not a bad selection for the kids as well. We had a wide range of selections. New York strip, fried shrimp, and catfish. My honest opinion of all of them was just average. The dinner salads were fresh and we all liked the dressings. The fresh bread was nice a swell. The server was polite and courteous. We enjoyed the meal. Just not fantastic. We like to support the local little guy trying to make a nice living and stay away from the corporate chains if at all possible.

Just ate here and everything was really good. Reviews were mixed so I wanted to update. Service was good – drink refills before glass was empty, extra bread, checked up on us twice after food was brought out, and salads were green and fresh. Give it a try!

Three stars is all this place gets… Maybe it was a bad day for the waitress if not she should be re-trained! First the waitress tries to rush us into our order never making eye contact with us. I had to ask for our complimentary bread that came out with our food. The house salad that I chose for one of my sides was all yucky iceberg. My food came out last and the $ 16.00 steak bites were already room temp… imagine that. They tasted decent enough but $ 16.00 for a cup of steak bites that you can’t get to the table before they’re cold??? Had to ask for steak sauce. Hellooooo. this is a «steak house»! This waitress wasn’t a kid and only had one other table! Second time there… they won’t get my business again.

I love Jacks… the atmosphere, the log cabin setting, the food. I’ve eaten here many times and never been disappointed. LOVE their fresh complimentary bread loaf appetizer. My kids like this place too! We’ve done a sm private dinner party in the room they have set aside for such things. Personally, I’ve had the best steaks in town here. Overall great place to eat… except when they get an unforeseen large num of people and are understaffed… be ready to wait a while, but it’s only happened to me once.

I ordered the sirloin steak and did was very very grisley. I returned the steak telling the waiter that the steak was too tough. They took the steak back and still charged me for the meal even though I did not eat I will never return to this restaurant

2 stars for not having brisket although it is listed in the menu!!! I walked into this restaurant and ordered the brisket on the lunch menu. The waitress said that they did not have any brisket today but they would make some in about 3 – 4 hours. She asked me if I wanted to order something else. I replied no thank you because I wanted the brisket. I cannot believe that she did not let me know that there was no brisket for lunch today when she handed me the menu.

The service is a bit slow, but the food is awesome. I got an avocado chicken sandwich which was great the ingredients seemed very fresh. My wife got a spicy burger which was equally as good. If you don’t mind the wait the foo is fantastic.

I guess this meal was about what one would expect from a steakhouse in Uvalde, TX… Just meh. –The server was a nice young kid that failed to comprehend what it means to be a ‘server’. He can to our table on a fairly regular basis, but we had to ask for refills and empty plates to be cleared. –The onion rings were so thickly cut you couldn’t bite thru or cut them with the provided butter knife. We pretty much wound up picking the crust off and dipping it in ranch. –The side salad was decent, BUT it was 50% half-bad iceberg with half a pound of pre-packaged croutons. The ranch was great, definitely home made. –The chicken fettuccine Alfredo was practically inedible. The chicken was chargrilled, and the sauce took on that horrible burnt ashy flavor once it was added to the dish. –The ‘special’ 10oz ribeye was a complete joke. It was a HORRIBLE cut, uneven with absolutely no marbling. It was cooked unevenly and LOADED with garlic butter to the point that the whole plate had a ½″ thick layer of butter on it. I couldn’t eat half of it. Overall the meal was a waste of an hour and $ 50.

Bad service… We were there for lunch, and not very many people there! We waited about 10min before we were even acknowledged. Had to get up and get our own menus! Long wait! Ridiculous… The food was good though!

Just came back from a nice dinner with my husband at Jack’s Steak house; I just could not wait to give this place a sterling review. We walked in and were promptly and politely greeted by two ladies and one showed us to our seats, immediately asking us what’d we like to drink. Our drinks were brought out quickly and we were asked if we knew of any appetizers we’d like to dine on, other than the complimentary bread. We decided to decline, since nothing really popped out at us that we were in the mood for.(Perhaps our next visit we’ll give one a try.) After pouring over the rather large menu we both decided on getting steaks. I opted for the Jack’s 10 oz Sirloin with a baked potato and a side of grilled shrimp. The husband ordered a 14 oz Sirloin, a baked potato without sour cream, and macaroni and cheese. He opted for medium rare and I opted for well done(would have ordered medium rare as well but being with child has barred me from this choice.) As we waited our delightful waitress brought us out a small loaf of bread with both regular butter and honey whipped butter. Though the exterior crust was extremely crunchy, the bread was warm and delicious. I only wish we could have gotten another loaf while we waited. I would estimate we waited about 20 minutes, which compared to other restaurants in the area, is extremely speedy. First off the baked potatoes were huge! They were much bigger than I was anticipating. I might also note that my sour cream was served on the side, which I think is a nice touch for those who aren’t overly fond of the stuff like my husband. Both steaks sat in a nice puddle of their own juices and topped with a very tasty seasoned butter. My shrimps were delicate in flavor; spritzed with a hint of lime. The only weak link on our plates was the mac and cheese, which tasted like something you’d get from a box and lacked any sort of seasoning and was made with a weak cheese. But the rest of our plates made up for the macaroni! The steaks were cooked to perfection, and were hefty in size. I’m assuming the cuts they use are a little over than what they’re listed as. My husband didn’t manage to finish his baked potato due to the sheer size of everything and I didn’t even manage to finish of my steak in one sitting. Also, I might note that our server was completely attentive our entire experience. She brought refills before they were needed and checked on our dining experience frequently, asking if we needed anything, making sure the steaks were prepared properly, and inquiring about our overall satisfaction. The price for our two person dinner was just under $ 50; though we would have not been surprised if it was more due how delicious our meal was. As for the ambiance of the restaurant, it is very rustic with a few neon signs strewn about. But it shouldn’t deter anyone from venturing inside to give what they offer a taste. I can honestly say my husband and I are extremely glad we decided to give Jack’s a chance and we are definitely planning on coming back.

Jack’s steak house is my first dining choice when I travel to Uvalde. I normally order the salmon with steamed green beans. Sometimes I order a steak or just appetizers. I’ve been wanting to try the bread pudding, but it’s always out when I visit. The dining rewards is a good perk & I like the frequent coupons received in the mail.

Found myself in Uvalde, TX shooting a commercial out at the Proving Grounds. Politely greeted when I walked in. The service was AWESOME! Unfortunately I didn’t catch her name.(If it helps management: we ate there on 11÷4÷2014 around 8:30pm and promised her I would write a Unilocal review). Meal came out in 15min if that. I had the chicken avocado club. Chicken was cooked perfect, and the avocado was fresh as it could be, and the bun it comes on, holly crap it was awesome. My coworkers had a steak and the other a salmon club. They where also VARY pleased with their meal. If I find myself there again I’ll definitely suggest this place for dinner!

I am not giving this place four stars because I think it is a four star restaurant, I’m giving it four stars because considering the area it is the closest thing to a four star restaurant. My 10 ounce ribeye was actually quite good, and I did not need to add any sauces to it. The service was quick and the food came out very fast too. Overall I am very happy with my meal. The Decour was fairly plain and in keeping with the log cabin motif. I would guess it is probably one of the better restaurants in this town.
