Best place around for local breakfast experience. Good basic breakfast, nothing over the top or too creative but always consistent and food quality is good and the establishment is clean. Family run makes a great place to go that makes you feel like you are a regular there.

Currently my favorite breakfast spot in the area. Good food, good portions. The waitstaff is not overly friendly but they are pretty quick and get the job done. As a response to another review: this IS a ‘seat yourself’ kind of place, so if you walk in and just stand at the door you might feel ignored after a few minutes. It wouldn’t be a bad idea if the restaurant posted a sign to let people know.

We tried it finally and we were disappointed the eggs were from the carton for my meal and my husbands was from a can, low quality products and if you could have seen the floor, the dust and dirt and cobwebs around the vendor machine things and the magazine rack things were there for a VERY long time, where I sat that was all I could see, needs a good cleaning, would never pay that much for that quality breakfast again!

Great food and good prices. I take my son here on the weekends. Place is usually full but worth a little wait.

I’d like to preface this by saying I do not like human interaction of any kind. This place was a little strange to me. When we walked in, we weren’t greeted by anyone. My wife and I debated for 2 – 3 minutes if we should seat ourselves, or wait to be seated. We decided to seat ourselves, or else lose a table to a more decisive customer coming in behind us. The waitress came over, and was very friendly. As I watched everyone interact in the place, I had the distinct feeling that my wife and I were the only ones there who were not related/from town/regulars. Having a very sophisticated palette, I ordered grilled cheese, home fries, and sausage. Everything was ok. No complaints. The home fries did taste a little like bacon, which was weird, because I couldn’t find any bacon in there. I’m not sure how my wife’s meal was, because we don’t really speak to each other, and spent most of the meal looking awkwardly over each other’s shoulders to avoid any eye contact. Overall, I’d say give it a try if you happen to be nearby…

My boyfriend and I like to come here maybe once a week if we can. It’s ALWAYS busy; so yes it does take time to get your food and all. I like how you can sit yourself and there’s menus on the table so you can look right away while the TWO waitresses are busy, The waitresses are very nice(except one; perhaps we caught her on a bad day, but I haven’t seen her since that one time). It’s a small area, but cozy for locals. The menus is not HUGE, but has a nice selection; just wished they had turkey bacon instead of just pork bacon, but overall food is always very good, with good sized portions. It also has an ATM machine inside if you don’t have cash.

We work close by to this breakfast place. We are regular take out customers. The whole office loves this place.

I agree with most of the other reviews. The food is pretty good, the service is pretty bad. It’s an acceptable cheap place to stop for breakfast and lunch. Wouldn’t avoid it, wouldn’t go out of my way.

Been here once and never going back. The service was terrible, the worst ever. She was so rude and one of the most unfriendliest people I ever met. We weren’t greeted as we walked in and it took forever to actually get someone to come over to our table. The place wasn’t packed and they didn’t have anything we wanted. They were out of white bread and wheat bread, even pumpernickel, the mushrooms were from a can, and the egg whites were egg beaters from a grocery store. My mom was so excited to go here and they didn’t even have the burger that was listed on the menu! Whenever one of us needed more water she gave a dirty look and never offered us anything, at the end she threw the to go box at me… Overall was just an awful experience and will never recommend this place to anyone.

My first time here. Service was a little sketchy and the regular crowd gave us some odd looks when we walked in… but the omelette was super-fluffy and the hash browns were perfectly crisp. I will definitely come back again.

We have been going here for 15 years. Breakfast is great, but hard to get a table on the weekend. Also cold from door opening and closing in winter-small place so no room for a foyer. Bert’s special is a good choice if you want a bit of everything for a reasonable price.

Foods good but does not account for the rude service! Good luck getting prompt attention to have tables cleaned to be seated! Go to Depot instead.

Entered as strangers, left as friends. Breakfast was unbelievable. Must find hidden gem with a home atmosphere you won’t wanna miss.

I wanted to update my review of Bert’s because it’s 6 years later, and my opinion of this place has only gone up in those 6 years! I also wanted to set the record straight on a few things. First of all, this place is CHEAP. The 3 $$$ signs on Unilocal are incorrect. Bert’s is cheaper than most, if not all, diners in the area. I honestly think it deserves one $ sign on Unilocal. You can get a good breakfast with coffee for $ 5 or less here. Also they now have an ATM, so if you forget to bring cash, you’re in luck. What I love about Bert’s? Too many things to name. I’ve been coming here for 8 years and never had a bad food experience. The place is small, so sometimes, especially on the weekends, there will be a wait, especially if you have a party bigger than 2. But once you are seated, the service is extremely quick and I love how generous they are with the coffee. I feel like my cup is never empty! I’ve never had to wait longer than 5 – 10 mins for a table. My favorite menu items are their breakfast wraps, veggie scrambler, chocolate chip pancakes, and often they have great daily or weekly specials too! Their coffee is awesome. Bert’s is a hidden gem of a diner. I’ve been to diners all over the US — NYC, all over New England, Texas, California, etc. Bert’s has a special place among the best because the food is SOGOOD and consistently so too. Check out my review count if you are concerned that this is a biased review… Cause it’s not!

Service here was speedy. The menu was full of variety and classics. I built my own omelette and was inspired by the Irish eggs Benedict. So born was a omelette stuffed with hash, spinach and absolutely smothered with hollandaise sauce. They are generous here and the coffee was great, too.

I like this place a lot for breakfast. Just went again last weekend, and really enjoyed the food, and the friendly people working there. I heartily recommend that you try it, and remember to bring cash.

After several visits for the past 12 months, passing on this option for local restaurants in this area. Food is Ok and the standard breakfast fare — nothing to write home about. Service is biggest issue — good luck getting prompt attention to have table cleaned for seating; or if want more coffee be ready to be wait a long while before rounds area made. For such a small place frustrating to see waitresses texting behind counter or socializing between themselves rather than provider customer support. Better options on the UXbridge downtown area or surrounding towns like Whitinsville.

Bert’s has always been a satisfying meal that is reasonably priced. Seating is a bit cramped but the meals make up for it. The place is always full when I go but the wait for a table is not very long. It takes a little more time to get your meal but not enough not to go there. Overall very good!

There are quite a few breakfast joints in the area, but have always preferred Bert’s over the rest. Good food, quick service, generous portions and inexpensive prices. Bert’s is also conveniently located right off 146 at the Chockalog Road exit.

Really good all around breakfast and good service. Its right down the street from my house so that’s a plus! The eggs benedict is great.
