Pier 1 Imports

I have always wanted to check out one of these stores, but was disappointed when I went to the one in Vacaville. I am assuming my experience was unique to this one store, as I hope their other stores don’t have similar issues.
I was «helped» by three different people, but this is only because no one really wanted to help. The store had barely any people in it, so I didn’t understand why the staff were so rushed and distracted. The staff was not friendly and they did not answer my questions. I’m surprised how little they cared about customer service.

I’ve never been in this particular Pier 1 without being immediately greeted, then accosted about what I’m looking for and what I want. I mean, that’s not a terrible thing, but most of the time I just want to wander around the store and gawk at all the new stuff until «what I’m looking for» finds me, not the other way around.
The few times I have had something specific in mind, whoever was helping me would either not really know what I was talking about or try to pass off something else as a substitute… I’m not sure which. Once I was looking for a durable mat for outside my front door to wipe your feet on, and the saleswoman showed me soft indoor rugs. Another time I wanted to know if they had any teapots, and the girl showed me a creamer jug. Maybe that’s just one of the sales tactics they’re trained in.

It’s difficult to walk out of this store without purchasing anything. Christmas is in full swing and everything is presented quite nicely. There is lots of red and gold couple with the silver and white so if those are your Christmas colors you are good to go!

Great service. The ladies who work there have always seemed genuinely interested in helping me find things that work. Which seriously is not an easy task for them because I am clueless when it comes to decorating. I am one of those frustrating buy something then bring it back 2 hours later because it really did look ridiculous in my house, people. They have always been gracious with my returning frenzy and have never taken offence when I sometimes turn down their suggestions. Pier 1 itself always is a fun experience no matter what city you are in, but here in Vacaville, these ladies make buying things a comfortable experience as well.

My husband and I bought a china hutch, dining table, some accent chairs, and a few other accent pieces from here. The quality and pricing is similar to World Market, but with a more chic, rather than ethnic, vibe.
Expect the pieces to have a few flaws, like legs not being the same length, which makes the furniture wobble a bit. That said, the manager has been really great in letting us exchange the first hutch we got – they didn’t check it like the manager said they usually do and it had several defects.
You might be frustrated in having to cycle through items a few times before you get a «good» one, but overall, they have really cute, reasonably priced stuff.
I always check their website for the best deals they have going on – if you’re patient, you’ll probably see their longer-​standing items going on sale at least one week out of the month!
This store is a staple stop in my home décor shopping!
