Pure Grain Bakery makes the best breads; especially the rye, along with all the beautiful pastry, cakes, and pies. Sandwiches look and smell devine.

Won’t be coming back to this location. I had an older blonde woman help me, she could not have been more rude. I figured maybe she was just having an off day until she started ringing me up. I asked if they offered a military discount and she stared at me blankly like she couldn’t believe I would ask such a thing, and asked if I was actually in the military. I showed her my completely legitimate military ID and she continued to inspect it like I was trying to pull one over on her and was reluctant to give the discount to me. Seriously?

My friend raved about stopping at this place for their lox bagel all the time before she goes to work and when I found myself in downtown Vacaville I decided to check it out myself. I ended up ordering a turkey sandwich, small mocha, and 2 pastries. All for $ 18, ouch worth the expensive? Well let me break it down: Mocha: tastes ok, nothing special Turkey sandwich: I’m very disappointed by my sandwich, the bread was ok(was s croissant and it tasted like it was day old bread) and the turkey they used seems to come from the very cheap packaged turkey you can find at Walmart. Baked goods: can’t comment on all that I bought since I only ate one and it wasn’t that good.(Chocolate croissant) Service: not very good but not bad either. Just the service you would get at say Walmart. I expected more since I don’t believe this is a chain. I don’t think I would bet returning, I can get all of these at the nugget market and it would taste better.

Very disappointing sandwich, I couldve made one better at home. Girl working there was rude also. Definitely take your sandwich craving somewhere else.

Great sandwich place — the bread is always fresh and your choices are many. Their desserts are really nice. Excellent place for a quick lunch.

I would say the motto for this place would be. «Come for the food, don’t stay for the service». Everything I’ve gotten from here is insanely delicious. Like their coffee is good. The vegetarian sandwich, muffins and pastries. I’ve never been disappointed with the food but the people behind the counter could use a little more pep. And I get it, working with picky customers is hard, having so many things to be responsible over(lunch food, bread, coffee, tea, etc) is a pain too but I mean when I try to be nice and make it easy on you, the least you could do is smile back or something. They’re just not very friendly. So as I said«come for the food, don’t stay for the service.»

I would have never thought to find a kick @$$ deli in this industrial area. But I did. And it was great. Very simple sandwiches, but definitely made with love. I give it 4 stars due to it being such a hole in the wall place. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, if the own up to it and make it a better feel when you come in. There isn’t much seating, so i would totally just do a bar height counter all the way around with no chair or simple stools. Make it look a little more ‘artsy fartsy’ and it could really be 5 stars. As far as the food goes… As far as the ambiance goes… I would totally go back. Probably tomorrow. Seriously. Just simple sandwiches. But delicious. Get the Ruben. Bam.

I come here for coffee in the morning occasionally, ive had one of their deli build your own sandwiches and they are devine! Bonus that they have sprouts and spinach. The desserts that they have are always fresh and super yummy and the ladies running it are nice and smile alot.

Absolutely love the sandwich! I purchased the turkey sandwich on a French roll. Also great service, and I saw all women working today! Yay for them. I am deaf and yet they were great to me, today! Smells so good too! The bread is so awesome!

.. extremely poor customer service. We went for breakfast sandwiches/pastries, upon asking the young lady at the counter if the breakfast sandwiches were different than what was shown, she stood there clueless. Her response was that they«slap an egg» on the sandwich, apparently that makes it a «breakfast sandwich». Additionally, they had a sandwich list, which another employee commented that many of the items on the list are no longer available. So, why is that list even out? We drove almost 15 minutes to this bakery and ended up settling for a danish, cinnamon pastry, a filled croissant and coffees. We could’ve got that at our local Starbucks, but we make it a point to support local businesses. Extremely disappointed.

So I had some German food cravings awhile ago. And when these cravings come, I usually head to Sacramento’s reliable Morant’s Sausage Kitchen. It was on one of these trips recently that their bread rack had something I hadn’t seen before called mueslibread. I like muesli. I’ll give it a shot. I don’t know what exactly it is they add to this bread but it is addictive as hell. A mix of rye, wheat, and whole grain. Flax seeds. Sunflower seeds. Raisins. The perfect breakfast bread(I mean, the packaging itself even says Frühstückbrot), just toast it, slab it with butter or soft cheese, and maybe a plate of cucumbers and tomatoes and you have yourself pretty much the perfect easy breakfast. Of course, when the mueslibread ran out, I went back to Morants and they were out. Apparently, according to the owners of Morants, they’re out often because the folks who bake the bread don’t send regular shipments of the mueslibread. And sorry… three grain bread just won’t do anymore. Which meant I started making weekly trips down to Vacaville to replenish my supply every week. Which meant I started buying other things like the delicious pumpkinseed bread — again perfect with a slab of butter. The pretzels — chewy and crunchy although a bit too salty. The bakery has a variety of other baked goods and they do make sandwiches, although I’ve yet to explore those parts of the menu. Prices on everything are very affordable. The loaf runs $ 4.49 and lasts a week. Pretzels are $ 1.50. Pumpkinseed bread and the seeded brotchen are just 70¢ For first time visitors, it isn’t the easiest place to find. The bakery café is a side door on the corner of Eubanks and Vaca Valley Parkway — and you’ll see it from the main road because of the trees and umbrellas outside. The area is pretty industrial but it is an easier drive that making your way through downtown Vacaville to their much nicer, much bigger café/restaurant location. My breakfasts for the forseeable future require this bakery to exist. My gasoline bill begs… no, implores them to open a second café closer to Sacramento.

So I had a host of problems with this place. I tried to fax in a order but their fax machine was illegible and I was phoned to take the order. Well it was around 12−1pm and they were out of everything except ham, turkey and salami. They were also out of french rolls and dutch crunch bread. Who knows what else they were out of. Regardless we ordered four sammies and four chips which came to $ 30 exactly. My egg salad had bits of shell in it YUCK. The other sammies seemed to be fine, but I wouldn’t come back here given a choice. I think with all the miscues and outages we would have been at least offered a free cookie or something.

Best cake I’ve ever had. EVER! Apparently when you place an order for a cake where I work — the café — calls this place and orders one. I’ve had the pleasure of extras being taken to the break room and like a vulture — I swooped in! Glad I did! First time I tried it the cake was chocolate with the raspberry fluffy mousse in the middle with a whipped cream frosting drizzled with chocolate sauce and more fresh raspberries. OMG — best cake ever! Second time it was a white cake with all the same stuff … 2nd best cake ever! I’m ordering one for my grandson’s birthday — he doesn’t eat cake — but it’s for the adults. Lucky me! I look forward to trying other things from this wonderful place right around the corner from where I work. I will be updating the review once I’ve ordered, picked up, and consumed the cake! Note: there are 2 locations in Vacaville, and I don’t know which one does the cakes — or if both do.

I’m all for finding small, hidden places, so I was excited about checking this place out on our way to Tahoe. First of all they have no bathrooms, so after eating a sticky cinnamon roll, you are left with your hands as they are. Second, we got there around 8am, they had no eggs or ham, so breakfast sandwiches were available. Then they had all of five bagels available. Not five kinds, five total bagels. The service was not that friendly either As far as the bakery items is concerned, they are not that good. Pretty tasteless stuff. The only thing ok was the coffee. This was very disappointing. I guess next time I’ll have to go to Panera.

If you’re driving down Leisure Town Rd, you might just miss it so keep an eye out for this bakery across from the fire station! I’ve been looking for a place that has dutch crunch rolls around this area and I’ve finally found it. My pastrami and swiss with the works sandwich was great for lunch and a pretty decent size for $ 6.45. Plus they take credit cards which is convenient. I’ll definitely be stopping by again to try some of the baked goods, especially since it’s right around the corner from work. Just one downside is that it’s kind of small inside the bakery, so if you’re looking for a place with more of a sit-down feel or somewhere to catch up with friends, check out their other location in downtown Vacaville by the library. It’s also the perfect place to grab a cup of coffee(with 1 refill!) on Saturday mornings before taking a stroll around the farmers market.

The service here is always a hit or miss with this place. Aside from that, I’ve become a fan of their Tuna Sandwich on Dutch Crunch. One single sandwich can definitely fill me up! I even tried their breakfast sandwich on jalapeño bread with some type of pepper jack cheese which was phenomenal. Come early in the morning(around fix or so) and the smell of fresh baked bread is to die for! If you’re in the area, I’d prefer this place over Blimmpies down the street.

I love this place. The outside of it is a little odd to say the least, they’re next to a fire station and a few random businesses. It’s also near where a bunch of Vacaville’s warehouses are. (Food) They always have delicious bakery items, my personal favorite is their blueberry scones, but they tend to sell out when I have the time to head over there. I also get their sandwiches and potato salads often, everything is pretty fresh and made to order however you’d like(the sandwiches that is, the potato salad is pre-made but still fresh). This is where the Café gets their bakery items because this is where their main kitchen is. (Service) The workers are really nice. They’re not super duper amazing but they certainly get their job done. One time they gave me a bunch of day old bread for free!
