I can’t believe this hasn’t been reviewed by anyone! Gourmet on Gore is a free food and wine festival over Labor Day weekend in the middle of Vail Village, perfect for a little day trip or an overnight stay if you’re foodie like me! Admission is free but you have to pay for tickets if you want food or wine($ 1 or $ 5 increments). I worked as a vendor but also experienced it as a regular person and both aspects were wonderful! As a vendor, the event staff was always there to help, provide ice and there seemed to be someone always walking around. I’ve been to a number of events that were poorly ran and this was one of the best I’ve been to. As an attendee, this was a fantastic way to try food from restaurants in the Vail area. Curried Oxtail from the 10th, spicy ahi tuna tartare tacos and quail and waffles from Taste Catering, Meat and Veggie Sliders from CineBistro – it was all delicious and I loved the modern take on classic dishes. The lines for food weren’t out of control at all as I thought they were going to be and having over 50 tents spread across Vail Village definitely helped in that aspect. Parking was really easy since the parking garage is free during the summer time and we just had to walk a block over from there, it’s so nice not having to pay for parking! This was only two hours away from Denver and was a great little getaway for the weekend to eat, drink and be merry, foodies unite!
