Best sushi restaurant in vail by far. Went twice to matsuhisa and that is only for bluff(people watching) wish is not a bad thing but I’m a sushi obsessed and this is the real deal. Traditional Japanese. Warnings: tiny place and reservations are take only the same day. So wish you luck. But if you are one of the fortunate ones to get inside you are going to be amazed !!! Really really recommend this place if you are a crazy fan of raw fish like me

By far the best sushi restaurant in Vail. I’m almost hesitant to write that for fear of letting the secret out. Fish was FRESH. Our litmus test is always the Uni and it was delicious(I won’t even try it at most sushi restaurants). Rolls are a delicate balance of fish, rice and the special sauce they brush on. The décor is simple — this place is truly about great food, not the hip interior or interesting cocktails. We plan to become regulars. Note: We ate at Matsuhisa and Yama this week and neither compare.

The best Sushi in Vail! Everything is so fresh, the owners so attentive, the staff helpful & friendly. Nothing is a problem, the meal was so delicious. Thank you for an awesome experience.

I made a reservation for 5 people, which is TOO many to fit into a table in this tiny place. I had a problem and tried to cancel the reservation and the hostess informed me that I would be charged $ 100PERPERSON for the cancellation, you are asked for a credit card # when you call and make a reservation and NOBODY tells you about their cancellation policy. So, in the end I was forced to eat there, in a packed tight spot where waiters were constantly hitting your chair and I had sushi that was good but not GREAT.

I am extremely surprised at this place. The cuisine are extremely authentic, the services are great. The only downside is the area is quite small. I still don’t understand why this place have such a low rating.

Best sushi I’ve had in the state of CO, without hesitation. The fish was very fresh, cut extrememly well. Only complaint is too many people packed in a tiny place. Want more people served? Get a bigger place. With sushi that good they will surely fill the seats!

I just had a fantastic sushi dinner at Osaki Sushi. The fish was very high quality, especially the bluefin tuna. Most of the dishes were simple, attractive preparations. Some had a little twist like a spicy ginger yuzu jelly, but I didn’t have anything that was fried or contained cream cheese(a sushi crime in my opinion). My only warnings are that it is a tiny place and is quite expensive if you order the sushi specials.

Nice small spot in Vail Village. Got there without reservations(which is never a good idea) and they were nice enough to fit us in between reservations as long as we are in 45 min. Service was ok and the food was good. I got the udon noodle soup which compared to what I cook at home it was more salty and didn’t have enough veggies and tofu. My friends ordered 4 sushi rolls and they were really tasty, especially the one with eel. It’s a nice stop for sushi.,

Absolutely without a doubt the best sushi in Vail… Don’t be fooled by the size of the restaurant. The sushi’s taste is 2x that!

no reservations?.. no sushi for you!.. but, small table opening up… when?.. unknown…tiny restaurant and will walk/wait outside… no sushi for you!.. must wait at the door… coat check attendant providing shelter inside the hallway to restroom and coats… quietly waiting… owner checking to make sure we stay put… browsing menu and waiting… owner checking again… attendant advising that coats be checked in… would like to keep our jacket… no sushi for you!.. restaurant too cramp and small for jackets inside… coats checked in and waiting… long wait, but finally released to small table waiting… kirin beer and sake ordered first… no overflowing love to the box in sake pour… just to the brim and no more for you… fresh wasabi root requested… good otoro sushi… sweet black cod… decent yellowtail roll… crispy tempura… slice of ankimo from a large lobe. mistake and different from what was ordered, but taking… smooth and non-fishy, but lacking… octopus and kanpachi fresh… finishing with powdered sugar strawberry slices and check… yowza…$three-hundred total…$seventy-five person paying… paying more than expected…

Sushi lovers you can tell from the review the folk who know sushi gave this spot high marks and I have to add to that. Wife had been naggin me to give this spot a try for years — I thought how absurd — top notch sushi that has to take a min of two flights to get here — no thanks. You can hate me for living in LA and being from NY but that sets a high standard for sushi snobbery and this place completely shocked me. Yes — per the upset reviewer below, it’s expensive, but you get what you pay for here. Excellent

Extremely mediocre japanese food. Granted, most fish items were fresh enough, but we received one or two that didn’t smell great. Choices of authentic sushi are limited. Mostly rolls. For the price(~$ 300 for 4), definitely not worth its salt. Service was a plus. One waitress tending 4 – 5 tables, yet she performed the tasks quite admirably.

this is my favorite sushi bar in vail. It is tiny; everything is in one room. I would never bring a large group. I would never count on table service to be anything better than adequate. The sushi bar is where its at They serve dinners, but it is a SUSHIBAR. some of the best giant clam i have ever had, and really fresh uni with quail egg. really close to sebastian and solaris and marketplace on the free town shuttle

Best. Sushi. Period. We ate there a few nights ago and try to go at least once a month, you’ll pay a price, but worth it totally! Fresh fresh fish, the space is small and intimate. I highly recommend it over any other sushi place in Vail.

Whoa terrible sushi, but worse? The service! We ordered off a page we were then told wouldn’t be available until next month. Food took FOREVER and each item came out 15 min apart, and I’d asked for it to come out together. We were brought a bill that once we opened was taken away because it was wrong… when they brought it back she told us we’d received a discount. Only problem? Our«discounted» bill was more than the original. Hmmmm. Oh and the discount wasn’t to make up for the poor service, it’s good through the rest of the month.

The service was poor, the food was overpriced, and it was very close to(if not the absolute worst) Japanese I’ve ever eaten. Wow. I’m utterly dismayed. I don’t expect much from the off-season at Vail, but this ruined even my lowest expectations. Give it a miss.

I’ve been hearing about this place for almost a year from my husband and his buddy after their guys weekend ski trip last year, and coupled with the reviews below(most of which are favorable), I couldn’t wait to try it out this year. Making the reservation and getting the time that I wanted was not an issue. Our plans changed, and I called back to change it from Saturday to the following Tuesday — again without issue. Until the Saturday night, when I received a very rude voicemail stating«Your reservation was for 7:45. Its 7:50. Where are you!» Click. Never mind, I thought, just a mix up. I’ll call the next day and clear this up, which I did. They apologized for the mix up and we move on. Tuesday night arrives, and we were careful to be on time of course(ever mindful of the voicemail message I’d received previously). The coatcheck lady(described in a previous review) was indeed very nice. She’s also the doorperson/bouncer, as she goes in first to see if you really have a reservation.(Or just showing up rogue??) Our reservation is fine and they can seat us, but oh by the way, we’ll be done by 9:30 pm right? okay… Its 7:45 pm, sure… so with the clock ticking we sat down and starting ordering away. The standard sushi pieces were very fresh(apart from 2 bones — 1 in a piece of salmon and 1 in a piece of tuna) and the rolls and other speciality dishes were fair. An exception was the albacore in jalapeano was especially declicious(and surprisingly not that spicy — lots of flavor). The chef came out twice to deliver our dishes personally and also to apologize for the bones, which was nice. The comes time for the bill, which they started trying to bring us at 9:20 pm, even though we weren’t quite finished(still trying to meet that goal of getting us out by 9:30 pm). Instead of charging one of our friends for his 2 beers, he was charged for 11(I mean — didn’t the server realize that he(A) didn’t order/receive 11 beers at any time and(B) she didn’t take 11 empty beer bottles away? But the server quickly takes steps to correct the bill. Out comes the chef again, which I have by this time realized is probabaly the owner as well, and he is very apologetic for the bill, the bones, etc. We get up to leave, and are immediately ushered out to the coatcheck area by our server.(We couldn’t leave fast enough for her!!) Overall, I would say that the food was pretty good, the service very — ish — the chef/owner very nice, and definitely an experience that I’ve shared with others.

Food was expensive, portions are tiny, fish was not very fresh, udon with tempora was exactly what I got, a bowl with bland broth, udon, and a side of tempora. No scallions, tofu, or anything else in the soup. Only reason for two stars is the coat check lady was really awesome.

Though the tables are cramped and it is a bit pricey, it’s worth every penny — truly some of the best sushi I’ve ever eaten. Incredibly fresh fish — we tried a bit of everything and it was all melt-in-your-mouth-sweet-jesus-this-is-incredible good. My favorites were the fluke tiradito(like a spicy and glorious ceviche), the shrimp dumplings, albacore and yellow tail nigiri, as well as the yellowtail/scallion roll, and two of the special rolls — one had tuna draped over it and something amazing inside and another was something with shrimp tempura inside and godliness on the outside. I want it all in my mouth. Again. Now. Oh, large din for 7 people is easily $ 700, though I’m not sure of the exact cost of our meal, fish this good doesn’t come at bargain barrel prices, nor should it.

Small and out of the way, a little expensive, but that’s Vail. We went on an evening with a 30% discount on rolls. A large sake($ 13) plus three rolls(soft shell crab, futomaki with fish, spicy salmon) and some uncommon sushi selections(mirugai, smoked saba), $ 72 with tip. The sushi was better than most. The service nice and the place charming. Call ahead!
