I would recommend this quaint Hispanic joint to anyone who’s on a semi-snug budget who desires authentic Mexicano cuisine – made from scratch – in Valdosta/Lwondes County.

La Jalisco is the very definition of a hidden gem. My husband and I were driving from Atlanta to Tampa, and stopped for lunch in Valdosta. I took a gamble and suggested we check this place out(we were both craving Mexican food). I’ll admit that I was a little nervous upon parking, but all of those feelings disappeared as soon as were seated(VERY limited seating by the way). Our waitress was very sweet and the menu had lots of delicious looking options to choose from. My husband I both ordered a tostada and a sopa(vegetarian for me, chicken for him). Even though the dishes are simple, the flavors are fresh and on point. I loved the corn bread crust on the sopa. As authentic as I’ve ever had! Even if you don’t live in Valdosta, make it a point to stop here when driving through!

Best Mexican food in Valdosta hands down! This restaurant is the only place in Valdosta that prepares authentic Mexican food. It is attached to a Mexican store so all the ingredients are fresh. The Cubana sandwich here is probably my favorite thing on the menu but I’ve never had anything that I haven’t enjoyed. Ask for the avacado sauce and habanero sauce on the side as well. Don’t take my word for it, try this place and you’ll never eat any at any other Mexican place in Valdosta again.

Excellent tacos, Huaraches. Aguas y guacamole! These were the best tacos I have had in a long time! I ordered Tacos de Carne Asada. The meat was well seasoned. The tortillas soft and delicious! My son ordered the Huarache de carnitas and he loved it! My husband had the tacos al pastor and he said it was perfectly seasoned.

I really can’t add much more to what others have said except to echo its authenticity. I studied in Mexico during high school and this food reminds me of that time. Go treat yourself to great food and at a very reasonable price.

Typical Mexican restaurant was a pleasant surprise to find in Valdosta. It brings me joy anytime I find a place that sells real-deal tacos(ie: tacos de tripa, lengua, etc.), and that they actually taste good. Their Mexican beer selection was decent, too. I was really bummed that they had run out of the menudo, but based on the menu picture it looked great. Next time I’m in Valdosta, i’ll swing by and order the menudo. If they have it and I like it, i’ll update my review. Regardless, if you want to experience authentic Mexican food and not the Tex-Mex crap we gringos have lowered our standards with, come here and give this place a try.

This is real Mexican taqueria food and a real gem for Valdosta to have and it’s attached to a Mexican market, as any good taqueria should be. Although they have a pretty big menu for a taqueria, the staples are the street tacos with your choice of meat(carne asada, al pastor, pollo, carnitas, chorizo, la liguina, tripa), as well as house-made tamales too, the mark of any decent taqueria. California burritos are another thing you can find here, and they do it as well if not better than any Moe’s, Chipotle, or Qdoba for a couple bucks cheaper. A favorite of mine is their tortas, which is kind of like a mexican sandwich on a soft bun filled with your choice of meat, avocado, jalapenos, and lettuce, served with salsa, my favorite being the verde. If you want your run-of-the-mill Americanized Mexican food, then you can keep going to Rodeo and El Cazador. But if you want authentic Mexican street food, come here.

La Jalisco is a wonderful little culinary pearl in Valdosta where there are so many chain restaurants. Supermarket in the front, small restaurant/taceria in the back. 1 $ tacos every Thursday after 4pm and 1 $ domestic beer is a perfect combo! I especially like the pineapple marinated pork and the beef tacos. Real, authentic Mexican food. Very casual/friendly atmosphere and service — very good prices and a great selection of hot sauces that are truly HOT! I actually changed my rating from 4 – 5 because this is as good as it gets with what they have to deal with. Less good things are that the outdoor seating is noisy because of the street, and the indoor seating is very small, but they can’t really change that.

Authentic mexican food. It may or may not be good, but dang if it isn’t authentic. Honestly, I don’t really remember if the food was all that great. It was greasy — I remember that. There were choices when it came to hot sauces. The menu had beef tongue on it. That’s about what I remember when it comes to the culinary aspect. The atmosphere is great. Seedy grocery store, seedier patio area to eat on. People behind a counter cooking the heck out of food and making it the way their mama used to make it. Go there.

The food is excellent and authentic. The dessert inside the grocery store is a great way to finish off lunch.

Best authentic mexican food in Valdosta. The only authentic mexican food in Valdosta. The tacos are amazing. They are smaller than your average restaurant taco but so worth it. Handmade corn tortillas served with grilled onions, jalapeños, liberal amounts of cilantro and lime wedges. Also great with salsa and guacamole. The chicken is good and so it the pork(can be a little greasy sometimes), but my all time favorite is the cow tongue. I would suggest everyone try it at least once. It is really tender with a very mild beef flavor. I can’t stress enough how good it is. Overall my #1 place to eat in Valdosta. Especially on thursdays– 99¢ tacos!

You’ll hear«authentic» a ton when someone’s talking about La Jalisco, and that’s accurate — you’re not going to get more Mexican than this place if you’re in Valdosta, and if you’re used to other Mexican restaurants and visit here, you might feel out-of-place. The food is tasty, and I’d rate my experience here much higher if I didn’t get a «Thank goodness I didn’t bite harder on that» bone in my first burrito. The server didn’t really seem to care at all when I pointed that out, and we paid full price for it. I mean, I get it — it’s a small business that’s out of the ordinary, and maybe the practices that make this food so good lead to bones getting in there every so often — but come on. We haven’t returned, as I’m a bit wary of my teeth, but I still liked everything else overall.

Finally!!! We finally discovered an actual authentic, delicious restaurant in Valdosta. Hands down best service, great deals, and best tacos(for Valdosta). Love the Mexican market attached. For a second I forgot that I was in a small town in the south!

Best tacos I’ve ever had! I got to this place almost every Wednesday for all your can eat tacos. They are the greatest thing I’ve ever ate in Valdosta. Don’t be scared off by the fact that it is a tiny place inside a grocery store. Best food ever and totally worth the wait.
