Teagle Optometry

I had been coming to Teagle for years as a kid and then once my parent’s insurance changed I started going elsewhere. I recently went back under my own insurance solely because it was familiar. I don’t know if it has always been like this and because I was a kid I didn’t notice/​care but as an adult I am unimpressed by all that Teagle has to offer. It’s disgusting in there, their front office staff is regularly dressed for the club, you walk in and there is so much skin and breasts and legs in your face. I recently went to pick up my final box of contacts from this place and used their restroom on the way out and their restroom is pretty much where their storage is with contacts, holiday decorations, dust, etc. There are stacks and stacks of old magazines pretty much used as end tables. I give them two stars simply because they do do their job and the girls who work there have been nothing but polite. However, I will not be going back.

I had gone to Teagle for 2 years and this review is well over due. Unfortunately this last visit will be our last one here. We went back the later part of last year and while Dr. Teagle himself was ok his office staff was horrendous. Trying to get someone to help us was a joke and the primary women TINA was worthless. All she cared about discussing was her new car that was in the parking lot that she had just purchased and taking everyone out to see it.
Icing on the cake was when we did get our glasses my sunglasses were not tinted the darkness that I had wanted. They told me no problem and they can fix it in house. I was like awesome, and they did. Now, my husbands had ordered mirror tint, well there was no mirror on those glasses at all. Needless to say they were going to have to send them out and could not give me any sort of an eta on how long it would take. They told me to follow up mid next week as it was friday. We left and went to the mall. As soon as I walked into the store we had gone to I looked at my glasses and my frames were cracked at the top and bottom (basically about to split). Needless to say we went right back over and they first looked at me and tried to insinuate that I had done it. I told them there was no way in the span of 20 min that I had been able to destroy these frames. Come to find out when they were popping the lenses in and out to darken the lenses they caused the cracks in them. The tech that worked on the said «I thought it was just dirt», so she obviously had seen the cracks. I was very unhappy with entire way things were handled. The office manager was amazing and tried to help as much as she could.

I’ve come here since my family moved to California… so maybe 14+ years? I used to like it. Recently though they have gotten extremely rude. I’m talking about the staff of course, the doctors are fine. But you deal with medical staff for 90% of the visit, so they are the ones who can truly make or break a business.
Well, they’ve broken it and pretty much lost my family. I came here in November to get frames and they said my plan only had the discount plan. Um nope, I had checked it before I came in. I left and said I’d be back once I figured it out. Talked to my mom and she said wait until January 1^st because our plan would increase coverage exponentially. So I came in today. 4:50. I didn’t know what time they closed, nor did I care. I came from work to look at frames. I told the girl at the front desk and she frowned, looked down (I’m assuming at a clock), and said «okay but we close in 10 minutes.» But I’m here now? Who cares if you close. I’ve worked in a lot of aspects of customer service: a nail salon, a restaurant, the medical field. If you are to enter an establishment before they close, the courteous thing for the staff to do is entertain the customer in order to bring business. ESPECIALLY at a medical office. I’ve never been told «oh we close soon» at a medical office nor have I ever told any patient that.
To top it off, she looked up my plan again and told me, again, I only get the discount plan. No, again… I do not. And I told her this, that my plan covers a specific amount. Then she said, maybe you’re not in network. I wanted to tell her that I have been there every 6 months for 14 years. But I just said no that’s not correct because I’ve come here for a very long time. She said, oh okay we’ll have to check with your insurance company. But we are leaving soon so we’ll do it Monday.
Woowwwwwww. Well you lost me as a patient, Teagle. The fact that your staff can’t stand to stay past 5 to help out a patient, and they can’t take the extra few minutes to check with my insurance is pretty cruddy. I’m going to find a new optometry; maybe they’ll treat me better.

If i could –i would rate no stars. Having been coming to this office since 2012 my children needed a check up. Waited a week for an appointment advised to employee making appointment all my insurance information to confirm still accepted told everything was good to go. Received confirmation of my appointments show up to the appointment get told sorry we dont accept your insurance and that they called me to advised they no longer accept my insurance. Funny my call log showed no missed or received calls from there office. Got no apology nothing– but were sure wanting to collect my money. That didn’t happen. Asked for notation on paper work of there mistake they could not even do that. THE WORST!!!

I have been coming to Teagle Optometry for all of my eye exams and glasses for over 6 years. I went in this past week for my annual eye exam and to pick out new glasses and, as I’ve come to expect, the entire staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. I wanted to maximize my vision benefits and still get a great pair of glasses so Teagle’s staff took their time with me and helped me find the best pair of glasses for my face and my budget.
My exam was with Dr. McClenaghan who was professional, courteous and thorough. He had a slight concern with my right eye’s prescription change and did additional tests/​exams (at no cost to me) to ensure I had nothing to worry about. I appreciated him taking the extra time with me and explaining everything he was looking at and testing for.
I am constantly recommending my friends and family to this office because I know they will be in good hands. I look forward to my next visit with Dr. McClenaghan and the rest of the staff!

I went into Teagle optometry for the first time yesterday for an eye exam and new glasses. I had a new vision insurance plan and Teagle was on the plan. Normally I pay out of pocket and go to another provider but I was getting tired of paying $$$ and my previous provider was hard to book appointments with, so I was really pleased to see that Teagle has Saturday hours as my work schedule is very heavy.
They were easy to schedule my appointment with, very professional, friendly and on time.
Dr Teagle Jr explained in great detail all of my results, answered all of my questions and was very thorough. The testing equipment was state-​of-​the –art and much quicker than at my last optometrist. The staff was very efficient with testing.
Once I was finished seeing Dr Teagle Jr., a really lovely optician came and helped me pick out frames for my glasses and sunglasses. They had a nice selection. She sized me and went over details and costs with me. I was out of there in about one hour. It was really a great experience and although I loved my previous doctor, this place was hands down a huge improvement in staff attitude, efficiency, convenience, technology, professionalism and selection for glasses. I was very satisfied.

The office manager, Janene is AMAZING! I have been going to Teagle for a long time now and EVERY SINGLE TIME I need Janene she is ALWAYS there to help me! I have twin boys so there is always something happening with their glasses!

If this review was based ONLY on the optometrist, it would be five stars. Unfortunately, finding the correct glasses is also very important and you spend a good portion of your time with the front office staff. My husband and I have dealt with this office for about two years now and each time the staff have either spoken to us in a very nasty tone or not said a word only shooting dirty looks. Today we were fortunate enough to get the help of Sheila. She was very helpful with finding a new pair of glasses as the ones that he had originally bought were too short once his lenses were
put in. Had someone been kind and helped as Sheila did today we would not have had to come back for a third time. Can we get Shelia to do a quick training on how to smile and help customers? If so this office would be PERFECT!

I was long overdue for an annual eye exam when I made this appointment so I was a little nervous. I mean, when you don’t go to the dentist for a long time you end up with cavities. I didn’t know what to expect! What is the eyeball equivalent?
I walked into the office and was immediately greeted. They asked that I complete some paperwork. It took me literally four minutes (I checked the clock) since they had most of my info from when I called to schedule my appointment. I did the routine scans and tests, sat for almost no time, and then saw the doctor (not one of the Teagles). He was quick but thorough. And explained a lot to me when I had more questions even though my eyes were totally fine. I was curious!
Since I didn’t need contacts or glasses, I was able to look at sunglasses to use my lens credit. They didn’t have anything I liked for my face shape so they told me j could come back any time and check out new inventory. I’d still get to use my credit.
My whole experience took half an hour. Overall, I recommend this office.

TONY!!! Why did u leave? This used to be a very good place. Slowly but surely, the professionalism and respect has gone away with the former employees. Tony would never allow my frames to take a month and a half to get there. And if there was an issue, he would call right away.
The office staff is unorganized, unprofessional, and need a course in sales. I get if they need to push a certain product. But if after listening to your sales pitch, I decide I want to stay with my Oakley lens, then just get on the phone and order them for me. Period. Instead, it’s been 6 weeks and haven’t heard back. It’s a shame because this used to be a real nice, enjoyable place to get my yearly eye exam.
Sad to say, I will be looking for a new place…

I would give this establishment 0 stars if I could. Teagle’s staff is unprofessional, disorganized, and condescending. I had received my prescription for my contacts but not my glasses. They had to email me my prescription for my glasses, after waiting over an hour to receive my prescription via email I called their front desk to make sure they had the correct email. Turns out they never sent it. The young lady who was helping me over the phone asked if I’d like to have my prescription for my contacts also emailed to me, I said yes. I then only received my prescription for my contacts and not my glasses. I had to call back AGAIN and ask for them to send me my glasses again, apparently they «forgot» to send my glasses. Later that same day I went to Costco to see how much my contacts would be. Once arriving at Costco I was told I needed a physical copy of the prescription and not just electronic. I then called Teagle to request for my prescription. They agreed to do so (with an attitude). I then received a phone call shortly after from Teagle, they questioned why I want them to fax it, I explained that I wanted to purchase contacts elsewhere. They told me that THEY HAD THROWN AWAY MY PRESCRIPTION. Which is illegal by the way. I had been in earlier that day and a few hours after they had THROWN IT AWAY. Are you kidding me? After I demanded them fax over my prescription they faxed them over shortly thereafter. They were completely disrespectful and rude. DO NOT GO TO THIS ESTABLISHMENT. They are shady and sleazy.

Love all the doctors. Very fast and friendly. My family always leaves happy. The staff is amazing to and on top of their game at all times. Never any issues with getting in to the office, if it’s a normal check up or an emergency. Thank you for providing my family with top of the line care.

I’ve been going to Dr. Teagle for years, as has my entire Family.
Dr. Teagle is great, and his staff used to be very sweet & caring & couldn’t do enough for you. The last few times I have been in there their staff has not been great especially this one rude woman. Today, after being on the phone with one of his staff members, who was the same rude argumentative woman who’s name is Tina, I’m done! She wouldn’t listen regarding my order that was a mistake on their part, & when I tried to explain, she just talked rudely over me & did not listen to what I had to say, could care less, nor did she try to help or try make it right. When I told her on the phone after she was continuously argumentative to just refund my money & I would not come back, & take my business elsewhere, she said OKAY! Bye!!!
I don’t know if Dr. Teagle is aware of her running off his customers! Then my husband asked to speak to Dr. Teagle & she came back & made it right. She needs to go!
Dr. Teagle is a great Optometrist but I’m not going back if she’s who they want keep to have to deal with at the counter.
If you decide to see Dr. Teagle, make sure you bypass that rude ass woman!

My whole family and I have been using Dr Teagles office for as long as I can remember and they used to have top quality service. Nowadays the staff is incredibly rude and patronizing and argumentative when you try to ask them any questions. Dr Teagle Jr is very knowledgeable but due to his rude and unfriendly staff my family and I will be switching to another dr. So very sad because it used to be a wonderful Drs office.

It’s true that Teagle carries higher-​end frames so the expense of getting new glasses is noteworthy. The staff seem to be nice enough, although they do steer a patron toward expensive frames and lenses with all the bells and whistles and then compliment them profusely so that the seed is definitely planted toward blowing the budget. In all fairness, they are competent. I don’t, however, like Teagle’s policy of selling the frame straight off the rack. My consultant, Tony, said it’s much like taking a dress from the mall… except that I get a dress more than every other year, and don’t generally spend $ 500 or $ 600! So for the frame I purchased just last week, I requested him to order that new. He says he complied, but upon arrival for pick up, I checked the racks and my particular frame was indeed mysteriously missing. He said, «This frame just came in today. What? You can’t find the other one? It must have sold over the weekend or be in the basket to be filed back. I’m just saying, while I have no proof that Tony proceeded to sell me the frame in accordance with store policy and ignore my request while even worse deceiving me over the whole affair, I have to find it at the very least suspicious. My instincts are on high alert; no one wants to be hoodwinked!

I have been coming here for over ten years…
They are a little more expensive than others; however, well worth every extra penny. In attempt to save money last year I opted for a change… It was a horrible experience which sent me running back to here. The glasses I got from the other place had the wrong prescription put in them multiple times and it took two months of back and forth, returning numerous pairs… Even the last pair was imperfect. I am not a difficult person to please… I just want to be able to avoid running into walls. The other doctor had a very difficult time fitting me for contacts, we tried three different pairs and all left my vision almost worst than without them… He then told me my astigmatism was the problem… And contacts were not an option… unless of course I wanted to order the really expensive custom contacts… (mind you I have worn contacts in the past).
Undiscouraged and on a mission, I returned to Teagle Optometry. Dr. McClenghan, proved custom contacts unnecessary. Although it took a few trial pairs he was dedicated to making sure my contacts were perfect, and that I was happy (and not blind). He ensured me, despite my astigmatism we would find contacts that would work. After each trial pair failed he had me come into the office and exam the problem (this was something that was not done at the other place) It allowed him to see the rotation that was occurring as the contacts sat… he was able to account for this rotation when ordering new pairs. This was actually my first experience with Dr. McClenghan, usually I see Dr. Teagle… I was definitely not dissappointed. All of the doctors here are truly the best. They prove time and time again their dedication to their patients.
The front office staff is also really friendly. If you go alone, i would ask a few of the girls for their opinions on which glasses look best… They display no chicanery. These girls are not just trying to sell you on the most expensive pair. They actually let you know which frames fit best on your face.
The prices in frames here are pretty expensive, but this is due to the fact that they sell mainly designer frames like: Dior, MK, Coach, Dolce and Gabbana… Etc. they do have a small selection of lower priced frames… Plus in addition to the frames you add the cost of the lens. And there are a lot of extra coats that you can add onto the lens. Again ask the office for their advice on which ones are important… they are really honest. For and example, if you live in your contacts and using your glasses only occasionally, they suggest not to add all the extras… and vice a versa
My philosophy on glasses: you should spend the extra money and get ones that you love… You wear them on your face!
I highly recommend this place, and will never go anywhere else again.

I have downgraded my review because on two occasions I have been in for my exam and the doctor forgot to finish my exam (the drops). I think Dr. Teagle, Jr. is burned out and just wants to get his patients in and out quickly. On our most recent visit, my husband had an exam and they asked us to fill out the online paperwork which I took the time to do. When we checked in, they asked us if we had done so and had to pull it up – you’d think they would have checked this prior to our visit. We requested the eye drops for dilation for a more thorough exam. Dr. Teagle, Jr. forgot to do that part of the exam. When I reminded him that he didn’t do it, he actually told my husband that’s why he stopped bringing his wife to his exams! How rude! We will be switching eye doctors immediately. They no longer seem to care about their patients’ care or health and are mostly interested in upselling expensive glasses. Steer clear of this practice if you want a thorough exam and good patient care.

I’ve been coming here for 10 years and always have had a good experience! Both optometrists are very nice as is the other staff.

My husband and I have been going here for years, and the staff has always been very friendly and helpful. I’ve been to a few of the doctors, and all of them have been professional and knowledgeable. I wear contacts and my eyes are extremely dry. Dr. McClenaghan has taken so much time with me to make sure I am comfortable and have the right lenses for my eyes. I also wear glasses and Tony spent a good hour with me making sure I had the right glasses for my face and did not try to sell me the most expensive glasses in the store. He was patient, courteous, helpful, and always made great suggestions. I’ve also had my kids eyes examined here and the whole staff was wonderful with my kids! I wish I could give above 5 stars, because they truly deserve it!
