My wife and I are now full timers on the lake and try to go there every few weeks on Wednesday night. Nick the chef, has not disappointed us yet. His ribeye steaks are some of the best ! Had the fresh wahoo last week and it too was perfect. Sarah our waitress of late is also spot on.

This is in a way two very different great restaurants under the same roof. The buffet side features southern comfort food and has a rather casual atmosphere. Fried chicken(very moist, probably the best fried chicken I know of), black-eyed peas, Brunswick soup(not the official name, but it really is a soup version of Brunswick stew), green-beans, and fried fish are some of my favorites and can be found there nearly every week. The ‘restaurant’ side caters to those with fancier tastes in ambiance and flavor. My favorite dishes are the country ham: flavorful and not overwhelmingly-salty, and the shrimp & grits: creamy and smooth. The walls are classily decorated with 19th century-style paintings and artifacts. The wait-staff is attentive and polite, and the owner often comes around to make sure everyone is enjoying their meals. There is also a certain old-house smell that I find charming and helps with the feeling that you’ve stepped back in time, to the early days of the mud house.

We recently visited this restaurant and really enjoyed our meal. The service was excellent and the meal was delicious. This is not a fast food restaurant !! If you want a good meal it is well worth the wait. They have a good selection of food types to satisfy just about anyone. Since this is now the off season you may want to check the schedule before going. Try the Cheesy Collards !!! They are the bomb !!!

The owner(who is also the host) is so rude and unwelcoming that it’s hard to patronize this restaurant. There are several other restaurants in the area that have friendlier management and food of the same caliber.

The food is good, but my husband wants to order from the menu and I prefer the buffet. If we ordered the way we wanted to, we wouldn’t be able to sit together. My husband would have to sit in the«menu» room and I would have to sit on the«buffet» side of the restaurant. Honestly, I think that is a messed up situation for a restaurant. Won’t be back

Very good food. We generally do the menu side but that is because we don’t need to stuff ourselves. Dennis will do whatever is needed to make your experience good. Highly recommended.

We eat here a good bit because it is very close. They have some of the best fried chicken around! I also love the gravy they use with their country inn chicken. I also highly recommend the mushroom ravioli. The smell of the old house takes a little getting used to and sometimes the staff can be a little slow but overall great place! The buffet always has my favorite fried chicken but rarely some of my favorite sides so I prefer to order off the menu. I wish they would allow some of your party yo order the buffet and others to order from the menu but it is all or none.(Buffet only on certain nights) Wish they sold the fried chicken by itself for to-go instead of having to buy a whole meal.

We used to eat here frequently when I was a kid. In fact, some of my favorite memories were their tenderized ham, mashed potatoes, and green beans. Unfortunately they’ve changed. Although the mud hut still stands and looks the same(along with the same old smell I love), the food is lacking. We won’t be eating there again. :(
