Vallejo is my hometown, and I’ve frequented pretty much every Mexican restaurant or truck in town over the years. Each has its speciality and fan base. Juanitas Tacos is a diamond in the rough, tucked in a fenced off lot on the lonely corner of Broadway and Lewis Brown Drive. This industrial area used to get more traffic before they converted Highway 37 to divert traffic over this neighborhood instead of through it. The employees I’ve encountered have been exceptionally friendly and patient. Their prices are reasonable. I ordered a huge super carne asada burrito for only $ 6.00. A super veggie burrito is only $ 4.50. The burritos are dense — full of moist meat, soft rice and refried beans and overall deliciousness. Most other trucks in town charge $ 7 or more for their super burritos. My burrito was mild, but they included very tasty red and green sauces to enhance the flavor. It’s definitely a hole in the wall, in a tired looking area of Vallejo, but the burritos shine.

Loved the fresh tacos! Well done Juanitas. Wish your truck was back in Kansas where we live!

Great family operated food truck. Don’t let the city of vallejo scare you away from eating at this gem. Very kind and the food portions are generous. Give these guys some love!!!

I finally found a taco truck i like in vallejo. I only drive by the one every day on my way home from work. I finally stopped and gave it a go. The prices are normal, but i personally liked the taste of the food more than any of the others i’ve been to in town. They have the jalepeno/carrot/onion mixture that i can’t remember the exact name of that you can take as much as you want. And the guy gave me some extra foil so i could dump it in their instead of having to open my taco plate up. I don’t know if their hours fluctuate, my dad says it’s always closed when he sees it. I found out it’s actually operated by the same people that own the juanita’s restaurants in alameda that have a good reputation. My mom and a lot of other people i know say go to the one by the old yard birds, soon to be grocery outlet, my brother says go to a couple different ones(which honestly, i haven’t tried yet), but i say go to this one, off by itself.
