First time trying this kind of food was here. I always get the tri tip combo. The sauce that comes with this is BOMB! The meat is always juicy and tender(my mouth is watering thinking of it) my daughter enjoys their ribs.

I really love this restaurant. It was clean the food was delicious the staff was very kind they accommodated a large party of 12 of us on a Saturday evening as they were gearing up to close in the next hour. They were super accommodating and the food really was genuine and representative of their proud culture. But many of us are bothered by the Styrofoam usage! We were dining in and they still put all the food in Styrofoam. And we just could not imagine the large trash heap left in our wake from eating at this restaurant. We would’ve been much happier on reusable plates even if they didn’t match or even paper plates anything but Styrofoam. Sadly we would like to recommend this restaurant to all of our friends who are heading up to enjoy themselves at Six Flags. But until this restaurant starts to get on the environmental train none of us in the party of 12 feel comfortable recommending this place…

This was my first time having Guam food so I can’t speak for its authenticity, but it certainly was delicious! The red rice, tri tip and BBQ ribs were all excellent(thanks for the recommendations Unilocalers!) and I definitely recommend those three items. The meat was similar in flavor to Hawaiian BBQ, but much less greasy and salty. Grandma’s bread is also a delicious, not-too-sweet treat. It’s kind of like King’s Hawaiian Bread with a frosted sugar glaze on top. TIP: An extra scoop of red rice is definitely a good use of one of your sides. As for the other sides, I tried the chicken kelaguen, lumpia, and daigu. I was less impressed with those sides, but still enjoyed them for sure. The chicken kelaguen was worth a try and had unique flavors, but I’m not sure how much of it I could eat. The lumpia was expertly fried and contained ground meat, peas, and corn. The pickled radish side(daigu) reminded me of the yellow pickled radish you get at Korean restaurants sometimes, but a little saltier. The staff is really friendly and the restaurant is clean, casual, and comfortable. It’s a little randomly located in a strip mall, but at least there’s plenty of parking! Warning: It’s not the most vegetarian-friendly place though since its limited menu is very meat-focused.

I love the food at this place! Every time my fiancé goes out this way for his hair cut(since it’s right next door), It’s a MUST that I ask him to order me some food to go! I love their tri tip with red rice, chicken kelaguen, pickled papaya, and the King Car Lemon Iced tea! I’ve also tried their chicken empanadas which were very tasty as well!

This place is legit. Everything is well flavored and delicious. The tri-tip and red rice is bomb! It is a little pricey, but the quality and flavor justifies the cost. If you haven’t had Guamanian BBQ before– go try it, it’s different in a yummy way!

Unilocal has been an amazing resource for me to be able to find restaurants in a new area I am visiting. Initially, I was searching for a Japanese restaurant but this type of food doesn’t seem to be popular in this general area. As I was searching through Unilocal,I did see this restaurant pop up, but I did not care to click on the business because it was categorized as BBQ/Bakery and this wasn’t the type of food I wanted to eat. After countless amount of searching, I finally decided to click on this page and I was presented with a hidden gem! Why do I say that it’s a hidden gem? Because I grew up on the island of Guam; therefore, this restaurant brought me back to my hometown… or should I say home island. The marination was great, the restaurant décor was unique, and the people working there definitely had the island hospitality.(Very friendly) If you’ve never had food from Guam, I highly insist that you try this restaurant so that you can experience the goodness of «Keep’n it Island» Unfortunately, I was only in town on a business trip, so I won’t be coming back anytime soon, BUT I do come to this area from time to time and you can count on me to always eat here whenever I am in town! I typically take photos, but my hunger and excitement told my mind to just eat! Si Yu’us Må’åse’

This is my favorite place to come when I’m in San Francisco. The Tri tip, empanadas and potatoe salad taste delicious! I love everything on the menu — plus people treat you like family and welcomed

Love this place. Definitely worth the long commute that I took to get to this place. I ordered a cake and it was done way beyond my expectations. The staff here are super friendly and the prices are very inexpensive. It’s in a hidden location so you truly have to pay attention when you’re approaching. Definitely will be going to this place every time I need a cake. Haven’t tried their food yet only the cakes but next time I go I definitely will get some!

I’m usually hesitant about eating at Chamorro restaurants as I think that the food may not taste that great. My Mom, Grandma & Family make delicious Chamorro food already. My family & I went and it was delicious and flavorful just like the way my family made them. I highly recommend going there. All the food are delicious. We’ve tried most of them. Try some Chamorro BBQ and other dishes. You’ll be happy you did.

This was my first time at a Chamorro restaurant and because I saw good reviews from friends, as well as other Unilocalies, my SisterInLove was down to try some with me. We got red rice, chicken kelaguen, bbq chicken and finadene sauce to bring back to the house. I like it enough to come back to try more! I hope the local community continues to support this small business.

My boyfriend and I have been coming here for a few months now and we are addicted to the food here! We always get the tri tip, chicken kelaguen, and red rice. Like LOTS of red rice ;p The tri tip is tender, juicy, and seasoned just right. The kelaguen is so refreshing and with a very slight hint of coconut which I love. And then the red rice. Oh my :) Red rice comes with the tri tip meal but we always order extra otherwise we end up fighting over it. The employees are always so friendly and accommodating. We usually just call the order in and pick up and we’ve never had a problem with our order. Sometimes the tri tip might take a while if they’re super busy but they always let you know how long the wait will be when you order it. Whenever we would crave island food, we used to pick up Hawaiian. Now it’s a no brainer. It’s all about the Chamorro food at Keeping It Island :)

Being half Chamorro I wanted to check out a place that has authentic Chamorro food. I was really hoping it would be amazing but sadly it did not bring me back to Guam. We ordered the chicken kelaguen, the bbq tri-tip, the ribs and the chicken empanadas. I was very under whelmed by the kelaguen. It wasn’t spicy at all and had no citrus flavor to believe they used lemons. The tri tip and ribs were ok but again no WOW factor. The chicken empanadas would’ve been the best item but they were dry. They had a good spice but it was so hard to eat since it was so dry. They do give you ample finadeni and each meal comes with a side of potato salad or chicken kelaguen. The potato salad was pretty bland. Overall, I’ll continue to make kelaguen at home rather than come here.

If you want to try legit Chamorro food in the Bay Area, this is the place to go. My faves are the tri tip, keleguen, and empanada but you can’t go wrong with any of the foods. I spend way too much every time I go because I want to order everything off the menu. LOVE this place and not surprising that the service is as expected… nothing but Chamorro love. I’ll be back anytime I’m in the area. Lucky I don’t live closer cuz I’d be broke from eating out all the time.

Unique place hidden in the corner of the shopping center. We tried the two meat combo for $ 13.50 with tritip and ribs. The ribs were a little tough but the tritip was well done and tasty. The Guamanian pastries were delicious though! I would totally recommend the Chicken Kelaguen — super tasty!

The food at this place is great. Almost everything we’ve had is excellent — the chicken kelaguen, lumpia and tri tip are great with nice flavour and texture. The rice and pickle sides are great. Service is nice, the place is simple but nice. The main complaint is that everything comes only in take-awaye styrofoam vessels with plastic utensils. Location is ok — a seedy shoopping centre on the seedy northern part of town. I know it’s Vallejo but the town really has a large, attractive downtown and it would be nice if more places moved over there while the seedy, run-down parts of this town really are pretty scuzzy, not just characterless.

4.5 Stars! My husband and I were willing to drive from San Francisco to Vallejo on a Sunday just to try a Chamorro restaurant. I am sure glad we did, and we’ll probably do it again quite frequently. I’ve got to say that the Mesa family is SUPER friendly! Their strong Chamorro accent made my husband miss living in Guam. I love their Chamorro pride prominently displayed in the décor. And, I was diggin’ the island music they were plahing. Most importantly, the food was really good! The red rice was really tasty. The tri tip and chicken were tender and moist. The kelaguen was pica(spicy), just how my husband loves it. The potato salad reminded my husband of his mom’s. I’m not even a fan of potato salad but I enjoyed theirs. The negatives I would have to say are that the portions of their sides are a little small and the cucumbers were a little salty. Other than that, I am looking forward to our next visit.

Wow, I can’t believe that I haven’t left a review for Keepin’ It Island. I guess it’s been one of my consistent«go to places» that I’ve taken for granted. The food is consistently good and is a good change of flavor from the local restaurant choices. We were in love from our first visit. It was recommended to us by my Chamorro co-worker telling me that the food here reminded him of his grandmother’s cooking. That greatly peaked my interest. Needless to say, the food exceeded our expectations. I’ve had Chamorro food before but this one is different. The spices are spot on and the flavor is wonderful. To top it off, the serving sizes are generous. My favorites here are the Tri-tip plate, chicken kelaguen, and chicken empanadas. For those with a spicy taste, make sure to ask for it spicy out of the kitchen. It will come out with some serious kick! The spice here is all up front, it doesn’t linger like other spices out there. I also had them cater our annual work party, and they made a lot of new customers. They made me look like a superstar by serving their food. It was a hit! I can’t stop recommending this place to friends, family, and co-workers. Even if you don’t like the food, the ambiance here is awesome. Great island music in the background, tv playing local sports, and the workers make you feel like family. ***There is also a hidden gem/Easter egg here!*** Lisa makes some awesome cakes! They are so good that often they are back ordered several months in advance!

My boyfriend and I love this place, him being Chamorro he had high standards going in. But it reminded him of how his grandmas cooking was. Reasonable price and delicious, so glad there’s a Chamorro place in town. I recommend ribs and tri-tip. The sides are also do die for!
