We ordered nachos to go-there was no cheese! You can imagine our immense confusion and disappointment.

WHAT!!! Quiero Mas! Where are you? I have sent several friends to check you guys out and they all told me that when they went, the place was closed. I thought it was because you closed for a day due to lack of business, like you had told me once before. Have you closed down for good? I sincerely hope that this place has not closed down before it has an opportunity to gain local support! I tried calling today, but the phone number gave me a recording that stated it was not accepting calls at this number. I hope that this is not another local family business in Vallejo that has had to shut its doors! If anyone reads this and knows, please contact me. I feel so bad that I never got around to publishing my review of them. I started writing it back in October 2012, but got held up. I will go ahead and post it now. For those of my fellow Unilocalers that have not had a chance to check out Quiero Mas, I hope it is still around for you to still do so! I’ve eaten here a few times now, so I have a definite opinion about this restaurant. I came here for the first time back in September, after seeing their advertisement in the local Grapevine. I wasn’t sure where the restaurant was, so one evening, I decided to go seek it out. It was about 8:00pm. I drove down Tennessee St. and was surprised to see this restaurant at the old IHOP. I was taken aback! But I had to go check it out! I love love their crispy tacos! So does my friend, Nancy, who is a crispy taco fiend! She has now made this place our«Go To» for crispy tacos! Thank goodness! I was getting tired of going to Benicia every time she wanted crispy tacos! I have had the pastor, the carne asada, chicken, and the ground beef tacos! All were fabulous! The horchata is made on site and is to die for! You have got to give it a try! I usually take one home with me to go as well! It is soooooo good! The wait staff is always friendly and extremely accommodating! It usually consists of the owners daughter and this really fantastic waiter named… oops! I can not think of his name at the moment! Darn it! Well, he is great! I tried a Multa for the very first time! How should I describe it… It is a sandwiched taco, prepared on the grill, made with meat served between two tortillas and garnished with cheese and a special sauce. It was very good! I have also had the tamales here. I was told that those were made on site as well. They were very good, but I have definitely had better tamales from my friend. Nothing beats a homemade tamale from a friend who only has you in mind when she is making them! I should have known that no other tamale would match up! LOL! If you really like it hot! Like I DO! Then you must ask them for their spicy salsa to dip your chips in. The spicy salsa is so tasty! And it is nice and HOT! Not made for the weak at heart. This salsa has a kick that will set your heart on fire! I LOVEIT! This place is a MUSTTRY! Let’s keep these guys around for awhile! The prices are more than reasonable, the food is very tasty and flavorful, and the wait staff is very friendly and accommodating! Oh and clean! Did I mention that the restaurant is very clean?! It was such a pleasant surprise! I remembered the old IHOP that was there for many years and I was not expecting much when I walked in, but the décor is very nice and clean! A great place to take your family for an inexpensive, delicious meal for dinner!

The manager here read my review and contacted me. She was very nice and very concerned about the quality I wrote about and made changes in response. A+ to the owner/manager. She convinced me to give them another try and I did. The salsa was delicious and the chips were fresh and good. I had a chicken enchilada and a taco al pastor. My dining buddy had three different tacos, one mole, one pastor and on carne asada. The staff is wonderful and accommodated more than two change requests. Super nice people, if the service a bit slow. Unfortunately the best thing I can say about the food is that it is passable. Quite mediocre Mexican food. There are too many taco trucks in town that do it better for this nice restaurant with lovely décor to stay open long unless they change the food to a much higher quality. Very inexpensive.

The place is pretty enough and the horchata is good, but those are the two nicest things I can say. Came here with the lady for a late lunch on a saturday and was very dissapointed. The tortilla chips and the tortillas in my tacos were all stale(tip to the staff: tortillas on soft tacos should be, well, soft. These were roughly the texture of rubber.) and they were some of the most unimpressive tacos i’ve ever seen. Like they didn’t have enough meat and stuff and were trying to stretch it out as much as they could. The lady said her enchilladas were«okay but not great», which roughly translates to «this sucks, why do you always insist on trying new places instead of going places we know are good?» Add to that the glacial pace of service and this is another entry on my list of places I will not be patronizing again

I live in the old & established neighborhood nearby~ glad we have a new restaurant in the vicinity. I’ve eaten here three times since they opened as Quiero Mas and report is positive. Service is prompt and courteous while the facilities are clean and well represented. It is important to note that, most authentic Mexican food restaurants serving such will vary~ this is because the owners, managers or people in charge could possibly be from multiple Mexican states in their home country of Mexico, which will determine and influence taste, smell and plate presentation. States like Michoacan, Sinaloa or Jalisco for example.(Only if they are authentic and not influenced by U. S Anglo per say). Price is considerably lower, however the portions are smaller compared to my favorite Las Palmitas. Great overall spot!

Technically, you can’t go wrong with Mexican food here in sunny Vallejo, CA. There’s tons of them, whether it’s a sit down restaurant or a truck. I don’t think i’ve ever had bad Mexican food. Then again, you don’t often find a place that stands out amongst the usual over here. Even any new places that pop-up here, while good, don’t make me think, «oh hey, i’m gonna come back here and try more soon!!» Well, this place makes me feel that way. First of, just a mini history lesson. For many many years, this establishment was an IHOP. It was a mighty cool IHOP as well. Had a more down home greasy spoon café feel to it. Loved it. But a few years back, it closed. In it’s place, some seafood restaurant opened. It was dismal. In short, they disappeared within a few months. Now we have Quiero Mas. Verdict: great! The first thing you’ll notice is how clean this place is on the inside and out. New places in Vallejo seem to be making this a trend. I say, keep it up! Very simple décor too, a few pieces of ceramic cookware throughout the walls. It feels very comfortable to be inside, especially on the sunny afternoon I was there. Also, there was a good amount of business, several patrons looking like they were enjoying their lunch. This place is already winning in my head. So I order the 3 cripsy tacos platter with chicken. A few minutes passes by and my tacos arrive, complete with beans and rice. Beans and rice are good, your standard Mexican side fare. The tacos… mmm… they were awesome. The white corn shells were cooked just right. They were cooked tortilla chip crispy, they had enough crispiness with just the slightest bit of softness. Not greasy either. The chicken was flavorful as well, tender also. It was topped with a nice slaw of lettuce, crumbles of Mexican cheese, and salsa. Very wonderful tacos. I thoroughly enjoyed them. When I was all done, I felt satisfied and not stuffed. The meal was just right. Service here was great. Friendly, prompt, and always with a smile. I only noticed that I didn’t get any chips and salsa and I noticed a few other patrons who were newly seated received some. Maybe I should have asked, i’m not quite sure. The overall feeling here was they they really pay attention to detail and they make for an extremely enjoyable meal. I will definitely be back as I am eager to try out more of their menu. Mas? Most definitely!

My wife and I came here during their grand opening and were surprised to see how smooth they were already operating. The décor was nice and the staff was welcoming. Everything on the menu looked really good, but our stomachs can only hold so much Mexican food. Alas, we ordered the carne asada burrito and the carne asada tacos. I know, not very adventurous, but you can’t go wrong with these staples of any Mexican restaurant. Complimentary chips and salsa were brought to our table. If you like spicy and delicious, the salsa will knock your socks off. The burrito was huge. That was my wife’s order. Normally her appetite is pretty small, but she managed to devour this burrito effortlessly. I ordered the tacos. They were of the street taco variety and tasted like the tacos I used to eat in Tijuana when I lived in San Diego. Very tasty, with the right amount of spices. We spent about ten bucks for both our meals, including two sodas, so the price was right. We’ll definitely come back again to try out the rest of their menu!
