The vibe has totally changed in this thrift store. My aunt used to live around the way off Redwood and Tuolumne and she’d often shop here. Now I stop in Vallejo during my drive from Oakland to Sacramento; stopping at Bud’s and going to Thrift Center. This place used to be super busy on Wednesdays, with the furniture out front and buzzing with people. Not anymore. The best part of this thrift store was the annex; it had been there as long as I could remember. Probably even longer. A Mexican lady was in charge of the annex and would remember her customers and often check«in the back,» if there was something specific we were looking for. It was awesome. It felt like a solid reciprocal relationship; a community relationship. And then they got rid of the annex and the lady in charge of it. The annex would store«true vintage» finds that were accordingly priced and you had to dig for the finds, this was the best part. The regular hohum vintage things that weren’t worth anything would be in the front, also priced accordingly. Well, now that they have gotten rid of the annex, the people that work there don’t know anything about anything and so they price everything old and vintage ridiculously expensive. I can’t seem to find shit here anymore. I used to be able to find leather Ralph Lauren jackets with fringe, Vintage gentleman hats and Panamas, Le Creuset and Dansk enamel cookware, vintage english china and FIESTA! Lots and lots of fiesta. Only three things can be happening to the good stuff; they’re hoarding for themselves, selling online, or just don’t receive the things they used to. #hardpass

I have visited every thrift store in Vallejo and this, by far, is my favorite one! They are reasonably priced(compared to Ecothrift and Goodwill) and always have sales! When I need something, I always come here first before I buy new and I almost always find what I need here! The store is a little grimy, somewhat of a clusterf*** and I always sneeze when I’m in there but it’s not that big of a deal; I just sanitize my hands as soon as I get in my car. They took out the Vintage Annex a few months ago but speaking for myself, I can’t say I miss it since I never found anything in there that I couldn’t live without. Great prices and always a new selection of merchandise, this is my favorite little gem!

Thrift Center Thrift Store has a lot of clothes for those looking. books –lots of titles(2.99. 3.99)-didn’t notice any interesting ones. sales always ongoing. stay alert for sales info and future sales announcements. shopping notes: –noticed afterward lots of spaces in the lot off limits for thrift shoppers luckily, wasn’t ticketed. –only single lane for checkout…

So I have been going here for what seems like forever. They always have the BEST deals! They have a display when you first walk in above that states which color tags are 50−75% off. If anything the rest of the things in the store are 30% off. Mind you, coming in here. It is not organized like a Value Village or a Goodwill or Savers. It is pretty, for the lack of a better word, ghetto –_– Yup, I said it. You want the truth, right?! Well, YOUCAN’T HANDLETHETRUTH! Lol. They are pretty sectioned off very clearly. Furniture, womens, mens, kids, shoes, purses, jewelry(up at the cashiers) & etc. No size sections though so it is a free-for-all! I guess you get the best deals that way because for the people that don’t like to go through EVERYTHING like me, they miss out on deals. Best believe, I go through every single aisle. Lol. During my last visit, they urged they customers to leave the hangers on the fixtures & just take the clothes to checkout. So FYI. Not sure if that’s been the policy or if I just never listen. Could be both. Meh. The cashiers are always nice. You used to have to bring your own bags but the last 2 times I have gone, they have provided the bag. I’m guessing donations since the bag had random jibberish advertisements on it. OH! FYI; when the cashiers are ringing you up, the 50% doesn’t show up on the register right off the bat. So don’t be alarmed when it shows full price on the register, they put the discount at the end of the total. Happy shopping! :)

This thrift is worth a look if you don’t mind a bit of rummaging. Lots to look at and some true antique/vintage items. The store itself is big and there are is a good deal of clothing, cookware and furniture. The Annex houses the more«valuable» items. Granted, I didn’t find anything worth much, but I did find an amazing vintage late 60’s Polynesian/psychedelic print dress for under $ 10. The housewares in the Annex aren’t in great shape, but the clothes are stuff you’d find on Haight for ten times as much. However, a lot of the Annex items are marked up(an old naked Ken doll was $ 10!) but they constantly have sales of 30−50% and they give out coupons on certain days. This will be in my new rotation of thrift stores. It has a lot of potential. The items that haven’t been selected to be in the vintage/valuable section are very reasonably priced for a thrift when compared to nearby Goodwill and Ecothrift. The stock doesn’t move as quickly as other thrifts and it feels a bit dirty, but I think there are some hidden gems to be found.
