Incredible food! Incredible sorrel! Easy parking! I ordered the jerk roti, shrimp roti, sorrel. I was emphatically surprised on how tasty everything was. Will be going back, again & again.

Chef B‘s is great for Trinidadian food. I have enjoyed the fried snapper, curry chicken roti, shrimp roti, but my favorite is shrimp doubles. I have introduced several of my coworkers and they all enjoyed the food a returned on there own. Try Chef B‘s you will enjoy it.

After my shopping trip to the mall I was more than ready for some grub. Chef Bs has been a bookmark of mine for a few months now so I decided to give them a try. I was greeted with a smile by Bill. First thing I noticed was the décor, it’s a little busy. Disco lights in the dining room, white Christmas lights strung in random places, small seating areas designated for reading with stacks of books scattered around. On the other side though there is a pretty decent looking dining room with seating for 25 – 30 people. Their doubles were popular amongst Unilocal reviews so I got one shrimp and one pumpkin with a plain dhal puri roti on the side. Bill was nice enough to bring me shot samplers of all their drinks(non-alcoholic) as I waited for my food. The passionfruit and strawberry splash were my favorites. The doubles were full but the presentation wasn’t what I’m used to. I was expecting it to look like a sandwich but what I got was something else. I also didn’t like the fact that the tamarind sauce was so overpowering. Gosh that thing was sweet! I wish they would have given me the option, like they did with the pepper sauce, to put it on the side. That dhal puri roti though… Somebody grandma is back there bussing it down to make that roti! I havent had roti like that in years! It was fresh, warm, full of dhal and spices just perfect. I would definitely go back for one of their roti meals.

The restaurant is located in central ave, big yellow banner. Over seen it there for a few years now and haven’t had the chance check it out. However it’s one those Friday nights«what to eat» and the same lame food around wasn’t helping. Anyway I remembered this Trini spot I love Roti, hey it won’t hurt. The place IMO does need some redecorating, a more contemporary look. The host was very nice and explained a lot of the foods. I wanted poulori but there was non. So we finally decide on white meat roti which was 2 $ more and I also purchased doubles two I should’ve gotten one. The double was like roti skin with chick peas n sweet sauce, it was too sweet not my thing really(1st time tasting it by its cool). The Roti was okay, because I was automatically disappointed when I spotted the dark meat. I hate dark meat, though I was so hungry I had to close my eye and eat it some of it. Idk what that was about they mixed a lot of dark meat with white. I think it was some what deceiving because if they didn’t have white meat just let us know. My mom however was very pissed she picked all the dark meat. The prices are high it would’ve been so much better if we had gotten what we ordered. Thanks for service however she was nice

The best ox tail I’ve eaten in a long time, service was spectacular(even above). I recommend for anyone to try this place.

Very good Trini food! The shrimp doubles and stewed chicken were delicious! We can’t wait to go back and have more. Oh and the phoulourie was good as well. $ 4 for 12 is a bit expensive though.

I love Trini food being Trini myself, and I always thought some of the best spots werent on Long Island, until I went here in Valley Stream for a quick lunch. Their pepper sauce is very VERY hot and in a painfully good way. My girlfriend and I got doubles and they are well seasoned and delicious. Even despite heading to work and having to heat up my remaining doubles it is still very satisfying. I can’t speak on behalf of everyone’s experience but mine was personally pleasant and the passion fruit juice is refreshing. Would definitely recommend to anyone

I am very critical when it comes to trini food because I come from a family of fantastic cooks. Sometimes though, you just don’t feel like cooking or may not have time. I have bought roti/doubles/etc. many times and am hardly ever impressed. My husband and I randomly stumbled upon this little gem while looking for a falafel place. We saw the big Trini flag in the window and I said lets just go try it out! Must be a reason why we came this direction.(We were slightly lost.) Long story short, I was HIGHLY impressed. From the time we stepped out the car and heard the sweet sound of pan playing, I got excited. The décor was very laid back and welcoming. Not your typical roti shop feel. I spotted some Spanish thyme plants in the window and if you’re a true Trini you know how important that is! The gentleman was very very nice. He had a smile from start to finish. He gave us samples of the fresh juices they offered. Everything tasted delicious. I had passion fruit while my husband chose mauby. The doubles were absolutely tasty. We had shrimp roti. The roti was VERY soft and delicious. I really do not have a bad thing to say about this place. I was completely satisfied. The prices are a bit higher than you’d expect. But given the location, I wasn’t surprised. In any case, I don’t mind supporting a mom and pop restaurant that offers such delicious food. Chef B’s will surely become a go to for my husband and I. And I will be telling everyone I know as well. Kudos to the Chef!

If for nothing else, go here for the doubles! This place has the most savory and flavorful doubles I’ve ever had the pleasure of tasting. And they have the friendliest owner and chef serving up this delectable goodness to you hot and fresh! Keep in my mind that the doubles aren’t an every day item and they are always made to order, so I would suggest calling ahead and placing your order in advance. I can assure you, you won’t be disappointed! Also equally delicious are their rotis(they have both the dhal puri and ‘buss up shut’ variety… try them both), their accompanying curries, and their tamarind and pepper sauces. The only criticism is that their prices are a little steep and they don’t have a menu with printed prices next to each item. So, a lot of times you won’t have an idea of the kind money you’ll be spending until the bill comes. That being said, Trini food and Caribbean food takes TIME and EFFORT to make. This isn’t your«round the way» fast food joint and you’ll taste the quality and love the from the first bite. In other words, you get what you pay for and Chef B’s is worth every single(delicious) penny!

This place hits a home run in the three categories I analyze when trying a new spot– Food(obviously) The food is amazing, we were impressed with every facet of the meal, right down to the home made sauces and tropical drink. Attitude — The owners were extremely friendly, chatted with me about the history of the business and invited me to taste the beverages they make daily Value — Huge portions for the $$, even threw in bottles of water to wash down the meal. Overall a great experience, can’t wait to dine in next time and enjoy the unique ambiance they’ve created!

I usually get the pumpkin doubles and they are the best. I recently got curry chicken roti and I was not pleased at all. It was over priced, they told me it took 30 mins to prepare. The dish seemed as if it was out all day and not freshly prepared. The quality of the curry chicken roti was not worth it, I was better off going to queens for some real roti. Bits and pieces of chicken and a lot of bones. If you’re looking for doubles, this is the place but anything else I wouldn’t risk it.

I was really craving curry shrimp with roti and have been meaning to give this place a try. My friend ordered food and they told her that it would take 30 minutes. The wait was not an issue, but when she brought the food to me and I dug in, it was lukewarm to say the least and some of the shrimp was extra cold. I live less than a minute from this restaurant so there’s no reason for the food to be so cold. Other than that, it’s portioned great but they should probably make sure their food is cooked through and hot.

Ok people… Have you noticed that the curry that they have is stale. they cook it and freeze it and then microwave it when you go there. business is not booming for them so they do not cook everyday. The roti may very well be fresh as it does not take long to cook. If you fresh food go to liberty Avenue in Richmond Hill. they are too expensive as well and food is not tasty!!!

This restaurant came highly recommended to me. I was taken aback when I went into the restaurant and there were no customers. Usually long lines means the food is good and no customers means… well, you get it. I ordered shrimp doubles and it was actually delish! The person at the counter was also very pleasant. The restaurant itself seems a bit cluttered with things that have nothing to do with with a restaurant, like a bookshelf and a reading corner. They need a makeover with an interior designer. I’d prob go back again because it was close and the food was good, but I’m not 100% sold yet.

One of the only Caribbean restaurants in the area. The staff is very warm and welcoming. The vibe is that of going home and enjoying a home cooked meal. The dishes are very tasty and made with quality, no rush service here. My favorite must have… Mauby or Passion Fruit drinks!

Just got back from there. LOVED it. Usually you can’t find good Caribbean food in Long Island let alone Trini food. So glad I stumbled upon here though simply from a FB review. Staff are very nice. Their portions are huge too. Me and my boyfriend each got a chicken roti thinking it’s would be fine. However, One roti is more than enough for two people. I also tried their oxtails which I thought were very well seasoned. I had their passion fruit punch which was delicious. The sorrel was good too not too sweet. I tried the Mauby but you have to really like licorice to drink a whole cup of that. Then I bought a bunch of ice cream truffles that I can’t wait to dig into but I’m so stuffed. Needless to say I left there broke… But with a full tummy.

I went here when they first opened and it was Café Central. I ordered doubles and it was literally the best doubles I ever had. However, I went there recently and ordered a doubles with jerk chicken which was ridiculously priced at $ 9.00 And it had to have been THEWORST doubles I have ever had. Doubles had no taste at all and the jerk chicken tasted so weird. My friend ordered a doubles with curry chicken and the curry chicken tasted like bland watered down sour curry. It was so bad. Save your money, Just take a trip to Queens for authentic West Indian food. This place just doesn’t cut it at all.
