In May Ryan Malekas, the carpenter from Handypro, did a non-trivial repair to the soffit on my house. The three-foot-wide soffit was bulging down in a number of places, fallen off in a couple. After considering alternatives, Ryan suggested installing a furring strip all around the house, and cleaning/reusing or replacing the soffit. It was a several-day-long job, but I am happy that he suggested a real fix. He also alerted me to the unexpected oddities that he found when tearing off the soffit — there were some unscreened holes and so forth that he turned into vents. Fortunately not much rotten wood. Ryan also repaired a fence and did some interior plastering. The exact plastic fencing material apparently was not available, he managed to use some plastic lumber to create an indistinguishable repair. Also he did the post properly, unlike the original. I really appreciated working with a carpenter who was interested in doing it right, not just putting some soffit back up and leaving the real problem unaddressed. Handypro is a franchise, the carpenter works for them but your business dealings are with the franchise manager. Who was perfectly fine and professional, no problem.
