We stayed in one of the upstairs suites and also had dinner there($ 10 discount if guest!). The suite was reasonable cost vs hotel and worth it for the convenience of walking to everything downtown. A little bit of awkwardness about checking in and out through the restaurant but we were the only guests that night of the two suites so felt like our own little condo downtown. My husband loved his burger at dinner and I was shocked at the quality of the oysters. They were Chesapeake but rivaled what I was able to get in New Orleans. We sat outside and it was beautiful setting. 3 Floyds Zombie Dust on tap sealed the deal. And excellent service.

Eh, ok food but very expensive for what you get. Not a fan and definitely too expensive to bring the kids. Seating outside was nice.

Ate here for the first time last night with a few friends, and it was great! We were promptly seated(which was kind of surprising considering it was 6 pm on a Sat.), and then from then on out everything was great! The servers, and service was great! Top notch, attentive, and very insightful. As for the food I ordered the seafood chowder($ 7.99), and it was delicious! I definitely recommend it. Give it a little time though because it comes out screaming hot. For my entrée I ordered the Shrimp Diavlo($ 18.99, I think), and this is where it loses a star for me. It wasn’t all that great. It wasn’t in a red sauce which was surprising, and it kind of lacked flavor, minus the punch from the spices. Overall I had a very good experience, and even though I didn’t necessarily like what I ordered I will most definitely be back to try something new!

We recently discovered a mistake while dining at Pikk’s. We didn’t get Open Table points after making a reservation and dining at Pikk’s. The manager, Tim, was very good about dealing with this and getting it corrected. Thanks!

This place is good. Walked in and was seated relatively quickly. The servers were friendly. The restaurant is clean. I feel like the burger sliders I had were a tad dry. They had good flavor with the onions and blue cheese on them. The fries were good as well. The thing they are known for and is still my favorite is the home made avocado dip and chips. Literally make the dip in front of you with a fresh avocado and mix ins. I have been here before but this is my first review on Pikks. I gave it 4 stars because the service was good. The food was above average for a higher priced restaurant like this and for that I would give it 3 stars if it wasn’t for the good service.

Had a very good first experience here last night. The appetizers(huge oysters on the half and fries with several dipping sauce choices) were outstanding. Shared a very good burger and a bowl of gumbo. Definitely will be back here.

Over priced for the food and your are paying for the location. If you have a family with children I would avoid because it looked like an inconvenience for the server. If I wasn’t for the server and the price I would probably give rate at 3-stars.

I would give this 4.5 stars. Pikk’s is in a convenient location on the square. The décor was nice, and the service was great. Hands down, they have the best fish and chips in the area. I would recommend this and will be going back.

Pikks is great for a casual evening out with friends or a date. Although the menu isn’t that extensive, what they have to offer is really good. You can make a meal out of the appetizers alone and still probably be able to take some home… Plenty of food!

This place should be so much better the food last Sunday as many times prior is sub par. The owner has a very good restaurants in Chicago and Indy but let’s this place go . I really wish they get new chef and train their staff better… It’s needed terribly

We hadn’t been here for a while, and quickly remembered why. I want to like this place since it is near my house, but it continues to underwhelm. We also stood near the hostess area and were ignored for a few minutes even though several people walked by us. I ordered a $ 20 tuna steak dinner which had no flavor whatsoever, just a slightly fishy slab of tuna atop a bed of bland rapini drowning in the what tasted like canned tomato soup. Our server was nice but out of sorts most of the time. The person clearing tables just hovered in a creepy way until we signaled she could take a plate. She never actually spoke at all. The beer selection is decent but expensive. The atmosphere and décor are good. Too bad the food disappoints. We will be back again when we forget how bad the food is.

It is hard to find anything negative to say about this restaurant… great ambiance, great service, great food… First Impressions: The outside façade gives very few clues about this restaurant. It looks sports bar-ish. On the inside, I immediately noticed the brickwork, and beautiful hardwood floors. I ordered raw oysters, a chopped salad with chicken, and a coffee for dessert. Pros: I really appreciated the limited menu. I always appreciate a brief menu with quality, well thought out dishes. The menu is definitely not typical pub fare; a lot of high end meat dishes, some pasta, very good appetizers… Pikks deserves an applause for their service. Very attentive waitress; manager was incredibly friendly. Food: The oysters were incredible. They were great with just a squeeze of lemon; coarse salt might have been nice. The chopped salad with chicken was good. Chicken was cooked perfectly, and very flavorful; tons of cheese, what seemed to be homemade dressing. The salad could have used some romaine lettuce or spinach to add color in place of the iceberg lettuce. Lastly, surprisingly great coffee! Strong, fresh, with small cup of cream. Cons: There weren’t any cons during my visit. I do have one suggestion though; if I was management, I would look over the menu and possibly hire someone to redo the layout… the current menu doesn’t do the food justice. The dishes are great, the descriptions could use some work, along with a layout overhaul… cursive handwriting, handmade paper for example… something that reflects the quality of the food.

Hit or miss! They have a decent beer variety, and innovative cuisine, but every single time i have a good experience, the next two are down right horrible. I’ve eaten here at least 10 times, and i can only remember three occasions where they lived up to their potential. The atmosphere is really rustic but upscale, if that makes sense. Bathroom is in a weird place, but it is what it is. I love their fries, and the chicken and waffle brunch entrée is always good. Burger of the month is a crap shoot; sometimes it’s great and others it’s… well… not so great. How do you screw up a burger and not Benedict? The problem here is the staff. I like the proprietor/manager, he is always polite, but i feel he is forced to pick up much of the slack from the staff. So while he could be going around to tables in a quality control role, he is constantly rushing to bring things the staff should have already asked/brought/offered. IDK, maybe it’s the layout. Also, if you send back an order and get something else instead, expect to pay for it even if it is inedible.

Food was ok… got a table with no problem, once we sat down it was 15 minutes before we ever saw our server. Food is incredibly over priced for what it is. I mean we had the burger and the open faced steak sandwich(both were very good don’t get me wrong) but 40 dollars for 2 sodas and two sandwiches is a bit much in my book. After we finished eating we sat forever waiting for our check. That and the creepy bus boy standing behind our table all night so he could watch the basket ball game didn’t help… all in all its decent but we probably won’t be back.

It is a shame that I feel I have to give Pikk’s a poor review. The food has always been good but the customer service has declined so profoundly that I doubt we’ll go back. Last night was the second time in a row that we stood at the entrance for a solid five minutes as wait staff whizzed by without eye contact or a single word(apparently there is no host or hostess). Once we were seated and the bus boy set our table, it was another 10 minutes or so before the waitress came by to see if we had any questions. We did… «Could we see a menu?!» We were already too frustrated with the service so we left. I hope you have better luck!

Decidedly underwhelming. Short beer list, and the bottle I wanted was out of stock. Only five taps, and the waiter had trouble remembering what they were. My turkey club was lacking in flavor and the bread, despite being toasted, was wet and crumbly. Worst of all, a friend’s meal was accompanied by raw potato sticks, aka severely underdone French Fries. Not ideal.

I’m kind of surprised reading the reviews of this place. I don’t think it’s the greatest restaurant in Valpo; but it’s really good, the service is great, and they pour a generous cocktail. During our meal, 3 different people came by to check and make sure we were happy– that alone is worth 4 stars. So this place is in downtown, right on the Square. Given that fact, you know the competition is fierce, so these places know how to bring their«A» game if they want to survive. Pikk’s menu is somewhat small, but they do have a lot of daily specials and they have some unique craft cocktails. I was thoroughly impressed with my rye old fashioned– this is a delightful cocktail that packs a punch. My date had the bourbon lemonade(made with Bulleit, I believe) and it was a hefty cocktail as well. I had the flank steak sandwich(open faced) and my date had the special fried chicken. The food was solid, the cooks definitely know what they’re doing. The flank was nicely cooked medium rare and was good. The fried chicken was decent, the mashed red potatoes and corn on the cob were the start of the show. I’d suggest brining the chicken or stuffing the cavities of the bird with herbs or something before frying to get a little more flavor, but the batter was delish. Overall our service was awesome. I really appreciated that they checked on us often, the food and drinks were delivered fast, and everything was accurate. Definitely a four-star experience.

Pikk’s is trying very hard to be a five star restaurant. The prices are high and the staff are certainly attentive. The food is so so, served in gigantic portions. Quantity however does not make up for a lack of quality. The burgers are the size of your head. I didn’t eat one, although my friends did. The beers, which I experienced, are overpriced. Tasty, certainly. Just not with $ 13 a bottle.

We had a great time with my grandparents. My grandmother’s mini burgers were very overcooked– my boyfriend just gave her a piece of fish and ate her order even though they were black. I get the feeling that if she had sent it back they would have been nice about it, but it wasn’t a big deal. He likes crispy meat anyway. I had the chopped salad with steak and it was great! The portion size was huge, very filling! Their fish is excellent, I suggest it. My grandfather ordered a burger– he said it wasn’t anything to write home about but it was acceptable and he ate it all. I also tried a Pink Cadillac and my boyfriend got a Dragon’s Milk beer. I would suggest either, however the drinks are pretty expensive even for a bar so be aware that even for a bar the prices are a bit steep. All in all the food was adequate, nothing more or less. The service was what blew us away, everyone was extremely helpful, polite, and smiling.

On the rocks. Take note: this is not a watered bourbon. How generous they are here! Fancy bar in Valpo and I heard their lamb dish is good. Too bad I didn’t get to try it cuz we already had dinner when we came here.
