I love this place! Not only is the chocolate great the food is also! The gals that work in there are very very nice and polite! Love this place can’t say enough about it! I recomment this place to any and eveyone even if you don’t like chocolate!

This place has decent service and is usually clean. They have a large variety of items such as chocolate(and other candies), chocolate covered oreos, fondue, brownies, cookies, chocolate covered pretzels, ice cream, chocolate covered strawberries, cheesecake, cake, fudge, and many sugar free items. I highly recommend the dark chocolate malt balls. The fudgy wudgy cake was pretty decent(it’s really super chocolatey – sort of a semi sweet sort of thing-so being a big chocolate fan helps!).

Here’s a place you can get coffee and similar beverages, ice cream, and, of course, all manner of chocolates. Free wi-fi is nice and there are a couple seating areas. The high amount of foot traffic(and child foot traffic as another Unilocaler noted) makes it a good hangout only if you can ignore all that. More importantly, the chocolate is not as good as the stuff down the road a few miles at Albanese Candy Factory, and the prices are higher here. Also, if you want ice cream, I’d recommend one of the local ice cream shops within walking distance. Nothing terrible here, but meh, I’ve experienced better, as they say.

The chocolate here is sub-par, but ok in a heartland sort of way. The coffee is ok as well, and it is neat that they have the roaster there. I have been to this location many times and the free wifi was the main reason I was in here. the SBCC just never moved into real gourmet chocolate but produces a lot of stuf that does not compare to the artisan stuff now available around the Chicago metro area. The location on the cute little Valpo town square, parking in back and on the street make it worth a visit if you are in this super cute little gem of a town.

On a chocolate level, I’m sure the South Bend Chocolate Company is fantastic. On a coffee level, it’s actually not too bad either. And I’ve even tried some of their soups and sandwiches there and found them to be fairly tasty. The problem I have with the South Bend Chocolate Company is not food based at all. The problem I have with the South Bend Chocolate Company is that I’m not a fan of children. And, when you go into a place with candy and ice cream and all kinds of other fun things, children tend to abound. And, although I’m sure this make me a horrible person, I have no desire to ever hang out in the vicinity of children. And I especially have no desire to be in their company while I’m trying to read or write or browse the internet or chat with a friend or just enjoy a delectable cup of coffee complete with a chocolate spoon.

What a great selection of chocolates. yum, I usually get an ice cream soda(they use Jones soda) whatever flavor you want with whatever ice cream, how delish! It’s a nice stop after visiting the shops around the square.
