I’ve gone here three years in a row because they are covered under my insurance, along with my husband and son. My husband and son get their contacts without any real problems, their prescriptions are fairly simple. We never buy glasses here. They’re OUTRAGEOUS. My prescription, however, is fairly complicated and has been the last 20 years. I have a high prescription and an astigmatism. Last year when I went, my payment was lost somehow and I waited an extra few days to get my contact supply while they sorted it out. Not a big deal, all was found, but I wasn’t ever apologized to or acknowledged about it. This year, the optometrist noted that my eyes are exceptionally dry — possibly a different lens would better suit me. He ordered 2 kinds of trials. When the first ones came in, they were wrong. I couldn’t see. I argued for 15 minutes with a gal on the phone who was trying to convince me to wear them a few more days. I got an appointment with the optometrist, who immediately agreed they were wrong. He ordered a different trial. That was 2 weeks ago. The 2nd pair of trials hasn’t arrived. The 3rd pair of trials hasn’t arrived. I have terrible eyes, no contacts, and no communication from Vision Point. The doctor is nice, quick, does a good job as long as things aren’t too complicated. The staff seems utterly confused. It’s so frustrating. I will not be returning. I can’t imagine any normal person has the time to commit to this process. There are at least 8 girls working at the place. You’ll never talk to the same one twice. And not one of them has a clue what is going on when you call. It’s unnerving when you add their rudeness to it.

I have never been to Vision Point, but I called their Valpo store recently to ask about their prices. I have an older friend who needs an exam and new glasses, and she asked me to look into the best place to go. I was told by Vision Point that currently an exam would be $ 69, that frames for the glasses run anywhere from $ 89 to $ 600, and that single-vision lenses for the glasses start at $ 150. I asked if they furnish the PD(pupillary distance) on the prescription; the girl on the phone replied that they have been told not to do that. The reason I asked about the PD is in the case that my friend would wish to take the prescription and use it to order glasses from an online store, where I have bought eyeglasses(frames + lenses) for as cheaply as $ 11.99 including shipping. Without the PD she could still order online; she would just have to calculate the PD herself. I plan to give this information to my friend.(I personally would not visit Vision Point myself, based on the above information that I was given, but that’s just me.)

I went to Vision Point because they are covered under my insurance. I have been wearing glasses for almost twenty years and have never had any issues. I have a pretty severe astigmatism and I am very nearsighted, so I need a the staff to pay close attention to my lenses. Unfortunately, the optician was not at all knowledgable about my high prescription and got me the wrong kind of glasses with the incorrect lenses. I have been back there a total of six times since that first appointment. I am now waiting on my second pair of glasses to see if those work for me. They did apologize, but have not been all that pleasant since they made the mistake. Their frames and extremely overpriced. I would recommend Walmart over them anyday. I won’t be going back next time.
