This is a must stop for any baseball fan traveling through Iowa! The Bob Feller Museum in Van Meter is absolutely amazing and has some incredible pieces of baseball history that would other wise be in Cooperstown! Like the bat Babe Ruth gave his retirement speech with! Guess who’s bat it was, it was Bob Feller’s and the museum has it! How cool is that! They also have great newspaper clippings, pieces from his high school days in Van Meter, and NO Hitter baseballs! Bob Feller was one of the greatest pitchers in the history of the game, and his career was interrupted by WW2 as he choice to go and serve the United States in the war! Lots of great history on baseball and WW2. The museum is super cheap too, 5 bucks to get in and they have memorabilia you can buy as well! Help keep this treasure open! I hear they are having troubles paying the bills! LOVETHISPLACE! So glad we have it in Iowa!

The Heater from Van Meter! I live in Chicago and have driven to Colorado four times in the past two years. I finally was able to stop and I am very happy I did. I love baseball, so Bob Feller is as good as it was. The place was close off the highway… I drove past it once before I realized it was right on the corner. Parking is small, but there was plenty of room. Inside is a Feller shrine with a load of autographed memorabilia from multiple sports. The articles, memorabilia and stories collected in the museum were fun to browse and I adored Dolores at the front desk. The Ruth bat was awesome to see and I walked away after purchasing a Feller and Dan Hampton autograph. My only regret is never being able to shake the hand of Mr. Feller, but thank you to all who have made this monument available for us to visit. I will absolutely be back again.

Talk about a beautiful treasure! Very nice museum, clean well organized. When you pull into the parking lot you see one of the coolest brick… not sure what to call it but if you look at the picture or visit you’ll know what I’m talking about! As you walk up to the building there is a big baseball with Bob’s autograph. They then have a home plate on the side walk and then a rubber where the pitcher would pitch from by the entrance. As you walk in there is a sign in book, make sure you check out the names in the brick. When you get in there is photos and memorabilia on the walls, they will play a video for you that is about 20 minutes long. After the video you can roam around and look at the different cases with autograph baseballs, bats, jerseys. They also have some football stuff here too. The big highlight inside to me where the Bob Feller photos and pins from his time in the Navy he gave 4 years of his life to serve in the military during the war. Those 4 years were in the prime of his career! Bob threw 3 no hitters in his career. There is a bat that Babe Ruth held in one of his most famous photos its the last bat he held on the field that is now at the museum. There is also a baseball bat that Ted Williams signed that you can buy for $ 1500. This is a great place to visit! I will come back to visit again and again! He’s not only a great American but he’s from Iowa too! If you have plans to be in Iowa make sure to stop here along with the Field of Dreams in Dyersville, Iowa They have signings, Billy Williams is coming up so and in a few months Mark Grace! Check out there web site for info!
