Wow!!! Bombass breakfast!!! And breakfast is my favorite meal of the day and my favorite food. No one comes close to their prices. Maybe Joyce’s coffee shop. But wow amazing food and prices. I loved it. Thank you!

Very delicious food. Pancakes where made to perfection. The environment is very home like. Al workers are very friendly. Not a big variety on the menu. But overall a good experience. Small parking. I came when t wasn’t busy so parking was easy but I can imagine when it’s super busy. .

We love this place. Sometimes we go twice a week for breakfast. Service is excellent and food is great. I love the pancakes. Portion sizes and prices are better than most places in the area. I like the fact that I can share with my son and don’t have to order anything else just for him. They are a family fun business and are always very kind. They always know our order and bring my son a cute decorated pancake. He loves it! This is our ride or die breakfast joint! I hope they can update the décor soon! That would make it an even better place to go!

This might be the last diner in the valley that isn’t overrun with screaming kids on the weekends. Sometimes it’s just so nice to sit at the counter and have a quiet Saturday brunch alone. The servers were polite, but not effusive– nobody made small talk or bugged me about what I was reading. It was glorious. I can’t wait to go back.

First time here with a friend for breakfast and loved it! The food could have been hotter, and the coffee as well but for the price it’s great. The service was wonderful! Shelley was so sweet, kind and attentive. I’ll definitely be back. Thanks for the cute lil design on my pancake Shelly! :)

Love their breakfast! We had the 2×2×2×2 and the country fried steak with white gravy. My boyfriend and I had a wonderful experience and enjoyed our brunch very much. Wish I knew about this place sooner especially when I lived in the area. The quality and prices of the food are hard to beat! Will be visiting whenever I am back in town. :)

Came in for brunch today and got the 22222 omg it was so good. This place has been here for ever and I wish I would have known how good it was before. This is my fourth time here and it’s been great each time just the way I want at a great price. Take a look at what I had. Hmmm hmmm

Small cramped venue with very pushy servers. My boyfriend and I visited this diner for breakfast and was less than satisfied with the service. The lady who served us was very insistent on coffee or orange juice when my boyfriend clearly ordered just water. On top of that the prices were iffy. They charged extra for egg whites and +$.50 for water. It was uncomfortable feeling like they were milking us of our money. The portions however were large which was nice. It was ok.

Local greasy spoon. Good old fashioned diner food right here in Lake Balboa. Typical diner service with an attitude. Lol. Totally low key. Don’t expect anything fancy at all. But that’s what makes this place good. Great eggs and pancakes. Parking can be a challenge in the front lot but there is a lot more parking out back.

Oh how I heart Hearts. Drove by it many times and never stopped by, until last week. First of all, I hate eating at chain breakfast joints. Nothing like a small ma and pa place to get a great start with breakfast. Service: picture going to your friend’s house. Not the friendliest person in the world but you feel comfortable visiting. The waitress was running around but was efficient. Less means more sometimes. And even though she didn’t spend much time with us, she was sincere. Food: I liked it. Not gourmet at all, but definitely comfort food. It hit the spot. And the prices were great. This place has great vibes!

This place is a Dump!!! I ordered pancakes & bacon, and the pushy old lady tha t took my order ask me hash browns… Coffee… Did I order hash browns or F’n coffee. The pancakes were ok but the bacon taste like it sat out for a while then dunked in the fryer. It was horrible… Wish I could give NOSTARS…

The stars are solely based on the food. Comforting and satisfying. Also very, very cheap prices which is a plus. Definitely quality diner food for cheap. The service is the worst I’ve ever experienced. The waitresses are incredibly rude and sassy and literally could care less about your business. The lack of care made me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. Overall, I give two stars because the food was good but the service was non existent. I can’t say I’d go back due to the dreadful service.

Independent coffee shops once a main stay of the LA culinary landscape are few and far between. «Coffee» shops are no longer the greasy spoon comfort food places vis-a-vie a place like Heart’s but the mega chain and hip independent places that focus on just that.coffee. So Hearts is indeed a time warp with Formica counter and table tops with booths and diamond tuck swivel chairs on the inside and straight up art deco futurist architecture on the the outside. The fact this place still survives in its original state is a bit of a redevelopment anomaly in and of itself. Step inside and you are thinking this place looks straight out of a Tarantino flick. Pulp fiction could have easily had scenes filmed here. Anyhow they offer up coffee as you are being seated and a nice touch although I am not a coffee drinker. Very friendly and super attentive, I got the feeling it is indeed family owned and staffed from the server to the cook as indicated on their exterior signage. They serve breakfast all day and while it was early-ish for lunch I opted for a bacon cheeseburger and my brother got a patty melt. The portion and overall look of my burger were pretty spot on and a bargain at around 6 bucks! Really nothing objectionable except the flavor did not meet up with the eyeball appeal. Long on looks and short on taste. The patty itself was let down, too tough for my liking and really not much going on for the star ingredient. The bacon was there alright but it seemed overly salty even for bacon without much else going on, crispy would be better for sure. The fixings were all very fresh and I haven’t seen a better looking tomato or lettuce adorn a burger like this in a long time. Side of fries were worth the extra guilty pleasure.(they are not included with the burger) Heart’s has a lot past the nostalgic look and feel to bring you in, friendly service, tons of parking and a nice sized menu with lot’s to choose from. I am sure they do many things well including what looks like some great breakfast items. In summation and based on this experience I would give Hearts a second try but probably give the pancake and eggs or similar a go next time.

Nice size portions here!!! Amazing for the price. I split the chicken fried steak with my husband and it was the perfect amount. It was also one of my favorite flavors of chicken fried steak so far. Seasoned very nicely. We came with friends who each got their own omelets and neither of them even made a dent in the massive omelet in front of them. This place has a cool old school vibe to it. You kinda feel like you went back in time to what diners used to be like. We sat at the counter and there was an old fashioned soda machine and milk shake machine in the back. The woman working was so sweet. She has a lot of regulars who love her as was evident since while we were sitting there and people just kept coming in and hugging her and asking how the family was. I love to see that! This place is a little out of the way for me. We went with friends before. A trip to Disneyland. I am excited to stop by next time I’m in the area though. I recommend stopping here for your breakfast needs if you are close.

I am sorry but this Place is a NO. After looking at the 5 star reviews I wonder maybe should have come for breakfast, but the lunch was less than mediocre borderline bad. And I don’t think its due to the fact that the chef and everyone else is Chinese… trying to run an all american diner. I just think its lazy restaurant management. DECOR: 50’s diner /Chinese urns and calendars on the wall. I cannot tell if the corn and the green beans were from a can but I am pretty sure… And if f they were not than just horribly over cooked. Ever heard of blanching ? 1:Bring a large pot of water to boiling. … 2:Fill a large bowl with ice water. 3:Working in batches, carefully lower the green beans into the boiling water. Chicken fried stake was greasy. Mashed potatoes were okay . The menu said«vegetables» come with lunch. To most of us canned corn is not really in the realm of vegetables. A few pieces of steamed broccoli or cauliflower perhaps some carrots may go a long way. I ordered a piece of extra grilled chicken which was okay. It wasn’t really bad, but somehow things just don’t work here. For dessert they listed 3 options, only 2: custard and ice cream was available. The Ice cream was good. Soup was«home made» chicken soup… maybe…maybe not. It was OK. Overall I don’t think I come back. Cash Only, ATM in the back. $ 2 charge.

My bf is a big fan of diners being from the ‘Diner State’. We always go to Nat’s for breakfast but I wanted something different today. So I hopped on my Unilocal and did some research. I found this place fairly close and decided we should try it. It was pretty packed upon our entrance but no waits fortunately(already one up from Nat’s). The place is family run and they are very cute and friendly as well. They definitely do a good job getting around to each table and taking care of you. I had the 3×2×1(3 pancakes, 2 eggs, 1 hash brown) for $ 5.85! And let me tell you, the portions are massive. I mean they served me two plates full of food. It was ridiculous. Of course I only ate about ¾ of my meal but it was tasty and a bargain. My bf had their sausage omelette with cheese and that was quite delish as well. We paid $ 21, including a very generous tip. Amazing! Will definitely go back!

Whoa… what a great place to go to for reasonably priced breakfast that’s DELICIOUS! Old school diner feel with a(better) Denny’s breakfast! Their chicken fried steak(they have two on the menu. The one with the white gravy is better in my opinion) is bomb diggity! Holy smokes! Their pancakes are fluffy and a good size, too. I’m sad I was too full to finish the entire plate! Family owned and run, there’s a family feel to it for sure. The kids loved their meals and couldn’t get enough of the bacon! Ha I’m so happy to now know there’s another option(and a good one at that) for breakfast around here! Card holders, take note– Cash Only!
