JFS Construction, Inc. was established in 1999 by Johnathan F. Safri, who used over 20 years of experience to build a company that supports home and property owners during stressful and complex restoration projects with professionalism and integrity.

The company has successfully expanded to include 24-​Hour Emergency Services, Contents Pack-​Out & Restoration, Duct Cleaning, Custom Cabinetry, Mold Remediation, and a full-​service Loss Mitigation Division for commercial and residential properties.

Established in 1999.

JFS Construction, Inc. was established in 1999 by Johnathan F. Safri who brought over 20 years of experience into the company. JFS developed strong relationships with some of California’s finest corporations, insurance agents and adjustors while providing services for our original venture in structural restoration. Over the years, we have expanded our services to include 24-​Hour Emergency Services, Contents Pack-​Out & Restoration, Duct Cleaning, Custom Cabinetry, Mold Remediation, and ultimately, a full-​service Loss Mitigation Division for commercial and residential properties.

Business Owner

Johnathan F. Safri has more than 25 years of experience in the restoration business and has been a licensed general building contractor since 1998. He currently holds a Flooring & Floor Covering license (C15), a Plumbing license (C36) and a Roofing license (C39). Mr. Safri formed his repair and restoration company, JFS Construction Group, Inc. («JFS»), in 1999. JFS handles losses occurring from fire, smoke, water or sewage backup and provides a variety of services including residential and commercial restoration, 24-​hour emergency services, contents pack-​out and restoration, duct cleaning, in-​house custom cabinetry, mold remediation and certified lead renovation. JFS serves all of Los Angeles, Orange, Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties. Mr. Safri has extensive experience in preparing repair and restoration estimates and, based on his work history, is familiar with the guidelines carriers use when determining whether estimates are reasonable.

JFS Construction was a referral through my insurance company. I am writing this review after more than a year because I wanted to wait until my 1 year warranty expired to give a detailed and accurate review. I wanted to see how the work they did would hold up after a year. And I must say that I couldn’t be happier. I think that the work they did, is by far the best work I have had done by a contractor. They remodelled my entire kitchen and it turned out beautifully. I really enjoyed working with George Keoshkarian, the person in charge, who listened carefully to all the details I wanted to go into this kitchen. He was always kind and patient to all my questions and requests. Vigen Javadian, who was the most amazing cabinetmaker on this job. He gave me everything I asked for. He was a very happy and pleasant person to work with. Dave Calyton, the electrician on this job did a great job installing the chandelier above my island and all my outlets and switches. And lastly, Chris Grai, the project manager, who was always on top of things and always great to talk to. Every time I called him for small things during my one year warranty he would always make the time, from his very busy schedule, to come out and take care of them. He even mopped my ceiling from the dust that had accumulated during construction. All in all, I am happy with each and every individual that I dealt with and would love to do business with them again. Throughout the project I was told by Chris that «we want you to be happy.» And happy I am. Thank you JFS for an amazing job!

One of their trucks hit my parked car and I called their main office. At first they said they would come out to see the damage then kept delaying it. I called my insurance and they are now not getting back to us. Very unprofessional and irresponsible for hitting a parked car trying To fit into a spot that’s obviously too small.

We came home and our whole first floor of the house was flooded. It was a ruptured water pipe. It’s really not nice coming home to that and we were in panic. I called a friend and he suggested this company to me. Frantic, I called them and they made me feel better right away. They explained that this happens pretty often and assured me that everything was going to be alright.
They came over right away and assessed the situation. Broken water pipe leading into the house. They quickly went over the process of cleaning up the mess and I agreed. They started working on it the same day and everything was finished that same week. After they left, everything was pretty much back to normal. They said they used the best materials so it wouldn’t happen again, at least in the same way.
Some people seemed to have a bad experience with his company, but for us it was really smooth and everything went well.
I recommend them, especially because they helped us calm down and gave us the feeling that everything is under control. My wife was really happy too. Thanks a lot guys! I really appreciate all your help.

JFS CONSTRUCTION is unreliable and can not install cabinets correctly or anything else for that matter! Our upper cabinets are 2 inches off center approx. to our directly below lower cabinets and it is so obvious and looks ridiculous ! We did not hire them our Hazard Insurance Company did and we trusted AAA. Wow to say the least, that was a mistake! This has been in construction since March 5th 2015! OVER 8 MONTHS and still not done. They have literally walked off our job now for months at 80% completed and will not stop asking for final payment and saying they have completed the job and now threatinging to put a lien on our house when they have over 9 feet of upper cabinets to tear out & replace because they can not measure correctly and we have more brown filler that is now cracking in our expensive granite countertops because their cuts in several places were to big and they had no choice but to put in color fillers which look terrible but they sure were not going to replace at there expense a huge slab of granite so they just expect us to live with it! They also built a drawer next to our dishwasher and didn’t even bother to look that our dishwasher had a handle like 90% of dishwashers do to open them up and the drawer would only open a few inches before hitting the dishwasher handle so we had to have our dishwasher replaced with one that does’t have a handle because we couldn’t open the drawer! they screwed up on that measurement as well! Also If you stand infront of our stovetop and look directly up at the range hood it is 2 inches approx. off center to the left and looks ridiculous! Even the lower cabinets do not line up with upper cabinets either. We have been waiting months now for them to redo the 9 feet of upper cabinets and trim and they have to reglaze and relacquer it all and there are way to many touch up and fixes of dried dripping lacquer markes that look terrible and tan color paint marks on white ceiling and JFS just put us on the so called back burner and went on with other jobs and left us hanging with no end in site so we fired them on Nov. 3rd through AAA who hired them because we need professionals not these people that can’t measure and walk off our job and leave us incomplete for months! We have to live here and deal with this every single day and they just don’t seem to care at all! They don’t even deserve one star! We are so upset and unhappy with JFS CONSTRUCTION it’s a joke at this point what they have physically and mentally put us through.

Poor quality, pricey, slow and unprofessional, sums it up. They were highly recommended by 2 trustworthy people, so I was shocked by the results. Perhaps it’s luck of the draw when it comes to estimators and subcontractors that are placed on your project. The owner came out and apologized and did very little to rectify the issues. He is now ignoring my emails.

This was a recommendation from my farmers insurance adjuster. I was reluctant, however because of the low farmers bid I was pretty much forced to go with JFS. The gentleman that came out was really nice. he said everything would be fixed in less than a week. I signed the contract and off we went. the repairs that were supposed to take a week took more than a month and a half. The contractor said the building was painted and ready to go. imagine my surprise when I showed up and there was no paint. the window tool over a month to get replaced (that’s right 1 window) all in all it was a bad experience. I would not recommend these guys to anyone.

Do NOT use this company! Everything negative that you’ve read in these reviews is true and happened to us! Project managers are inept, inconsiderate and completely unprofessional. They can’t schedule a project efficiently to save their lives! They don’t communicate with their subs, so EVERYTHING has been done wrong or incompletely, and the project took 3 times as long as it was supposed to. We quit on them before the end and ended up paying a different contractor to finish a number of things, which ended up costing us much more.
The subs were pretty professional and well-​intentioned, but they end up doing the wrong work, and having to come back multiple times because the PM doesn’t communicate with them.
The content specialists were the only «department» in the company that actually did an amazing job! They packed our stuff out beautifully and with care and then amazingly unpacked it all and put it back exactly as it was supposed to be. That was amazing!
The adjusters lie and say whatever you want, and seem very professional UNTIL you sign and then they disappear and won’t call you back and don’t respond to email.
It’s true that John, the owner, is knowledgable and he does show up after his employees have screwed up, and he tries to fix it, but it’s like putting a band aide on a gaping wound — there’s only so much he can do before he has to run and tend to the next emergency. Although John is the only one who was able to make some things right, I hold him ultimately responsible for the mess that his employees create, because he is the owner, after all.
Don’t believe ANYTHING good that they or your insurance says about this company. You will regret it. Like the other reviews say, «RUN, don’t walk» away before you get sucked in!

Another highly DISSATISFIED customer. This company doesn’t deserve one star. Every awful thing you’ve heard about construction pales in comparison to these folks.
Our insurance told us this company was reliable — a «preferred provider» so we trusted their recommendation. HUGE mistake!
At first Chuck seemed so professional — he returned our calls, answered our questions, told us what we needed to hear… until we signed on the dotted line. Then everything changed. I have to laugh when I saw their hours advertised as 6 AM-​midnight! At 4:30 in the afternoon Brian won’t return texts or calls because he’s «off»! There are SO many bad things to say about this business, but this is just the funniest!
Everyone knows that construction can be devastating. The ppl at JFS bring the whole industry to a new low. The PM and the general contractor were consistently dishonest, and inconsiderate throughout our terrible 5 month ordeal that was supposed to take 8 weeks. Their subs broke as many things as they fixed, there was no oversight or supervision, every time we brought an issue to their attention, the response of the PROJECT MANAGER was: «it’s not my fault, I didn’t know about it.»
Where do you go with that?
There was absolutely NOTHING good about working with this company. A nightmare. Don’t be swayed by anything they say.

Stay away. Horrible work. The only positive is Victor. I have contacted my insurance company to ask for a different contractor next time.
JFS has taken over one month to finish work on my basement. They also did work on my daughters bedroom and i’ve had to have them out multiple times to fix mistakes on the drywall. Frustrating! The guys mean well. I’m convinced that they just don’t hire enough independent contractors to save money thus leading to longer jobs and less than stellar work. Basically, my daughters room looks worse now than before JFS touched her walls. Painter was never on time. Just horrible horrible service.
I think Victor is awesome though. Great guy who works really hard. He just has ZERO support. If he moves to another company, we will follow him. Until then, I cannot recommend JFS construction to my friends in the southbay. Try Fernando at Southland Construction. They are awesome:

After re-​roofing our home in the 90’s (that we built in 1972), we had major leaks with extensive damage. USAA sent John Safri to evaluate the damage which he then had repaired. I chose to remodel the kitchen while it was being reconstructed. John and I worked together on the kitchen as well as on a redo of our master bath.
In 2014 we had a leak in our other home (a condo) from the condo above us. USAA again used John (now JFS Construction). This was a relatively simple affair, but it renewed our relationship with John. Our house needed another kitchen redo. I dreaded this until John re-​entered our lives. He has been able to salvage our kitchen cabinets and granite counter tops, while replacing appliances, faucets, etc. I am enjoying working with John again. I think highly of him and his subs. Building and remodeling are very stressful at times for most of us as well as for contractors. John has gone out of his way to make repairing and remodeling as pleasant as possible.

I have used JFS for several jobs on a couple different properties. John, the owner is great. He answered all my questions and gave me some great suggestions on the work I wanted done.
One project was finished when they said it would be complete. One was delayed a bit because I made some changes half way though, so that is my bad.
I have referred JFS to several friends who all had great experiences.
I was pretty surprised when I saw the negative reviews, they are completely opposite of my experiences. as we all know, most people will only post reviews if they are unhappy. I am sure there are hundreds of happy people who have used JFS.
Any work I need done, JFS will always be my first call.

Omg this company is the very worst. I am an insurance agent our company would never use these idiots. My condo was flooded by my neighbor and when I got there triple a had sent these idiots. I should have listened to my first reaction and hired someone else. They overdried they don’t return calls. The owner showed up and he was useless and he didn’t return calla. Run don’t walk away from this company

OMG, do yourself a favor and RUN as fast as you can AWAY from JFS. A $ 56,000 job they started 2 years ago is still not finished, and we are getting the run around… They don’t know their heads from their tails. Pick any other company. Stay away from JFS
