Mey Fung Bakery

I love this place, hole in the wall but the taste and quality is there, from their strawberry cakes to the coffee rolls. I’ve been coming here since I was a child and I’m still coming back.

Great strawberry whipped-​cream cakes! Nothing fancy about this bakery at all; kinda old and run down, but their amazing cakes make up for it and it is always fresh and delicious. We typically get their strawberry or sometimes banana filled cake. The cake itself is so light and airy; the whipped– cream frosting is perfectly lightly sweeten. If your looking for something affordable and prefer cakes that are on the lighter side and not so sweet then this is your place.

Amazing bakery ! The chocolate cake was beyond amazing (non-​sweet and frosting non-​sweet) super delicious my make was only $ 29 including the toys and the order process over the phone was super helpful and easy ! Thank you Jocelyn for helping with the cake order ! That cake actually served me for 25people !

I went in for a last minute baby shower cake, I knew I was cutting it close and I was happy that they had the cake size I needed in a good flavor (half banana/​half strawberry)…I paid before seeing the final product (big mistake). I wrote down the writing I wanted but without looking the young woman wrote the wrong name. She shows me and I said «no, that’s not the way I wrote it» she says «oh shit», takes it to the back where they wipe the name… not smoothing it out or re-​frosting it… brings it back and rewrites the name. Offering no discount or replacement cake, I never saw a manager the whole time I was in there AND I was the only customer so it’s not like they were too busy to fix the problem. Now I’m stuck with a cake I’m embarrassed to show up with and serve at my cousins baby shower. For $ 35 we’ll see how it tastes.

I love the 3 leches cake !!! Fast and friendly service. If you need a last minute cake that taste amazing this is the place to go!

I LOVE the tres leches cake. It is simply delicious! They usually have cakes already made just ready to be decorated but I always call prior to the day I want the cake just incase. Rarely I need to buy the cake last minute and not once have they told me they don’t have cakes for that day. Which is great and convenient.

Best cake ever! Officemates are happy that finally we found a good bakeshop! We’ve been trying every bakeshop near our area… we didn’t know the best is just 2 blocks away from our office! =)

This use to be my favorite go to bakery, but this last time the staff working the phone and counter was rude. The person writing the name on the cake I told her it wasn’t centered and she rolled her eyes at me and said well it’s gonna take 25 minutes to fix because they have to take the whole top off…
Seriously don’t have time for that… I’m already later than I wanted to be.
It’s your fault and it’s going to take 25 minutes poor customer service!!!

My family & I have been coming to this bakery for 20+ years now. It’s where we get our cakes for all our major events. It’s where we got my birthday cakes when I was a kid, & now here I am, buying cakes here for MY kids’ birthdays. Surreal.
I have to point out this isn’t a fancy ‘Cake Boss’ type of bakery. There’s no fondant. No glitz. No glam. Just quality cakes from a Mom + Pop shop.
Our go-​to is the traditional strawberry cake.
The only downfall is the parking which can get annoying.

Got a birthday cake here recently and like many others have said, their cakes aren’t particularly too sweet. Overall, our family liked the cake. Good service, as they do make a sincere effort to assist you with a smile. My only gripe is that they have limited options. My only choice was a strawberry center white cake with either a blue rose or a pink rose. That said, I was looking for the smallest cake they had and it was not pre-​ordered. Will definitely be back.

Good cake limited on how creative you want to get, girls were nice a bit unorganized the owners kid was annoying he threw hard plastic cake decorating balloons at me but good cake

Wow! What a great bakery and a perfect find as we were looking for a delicious and reasonably priced cake for my son’s birthday. Mey Fung will be our go-​to bakery from now on!
The cake we ordered was decorated just like we requested (a Minion-​looking eye on a round yellow cake) and it was de-​lic-​ious. Spongy white cake, strawberry and banana filling (real fruit), and divine whipped cream frosting and icing. So good!
We will be back on our next occasion!

This place is a gem. Very similar to the bakery in Hollywood that I grew up going to. Im a happy customer for being able to discover this hidden bakery two thumbs up!

Me and my family love coming here for birthdays special occasions etc and the cakes are always delicious, fluffy, and sweet. They are also reasonably priced. The workers are also very nice when we go there. I love this bakery a lot. If you are looking for a delicious and well priced cake come here!

I’ve been coming to this bakery on Sherman way and Van Nuys for at least 20 years. Excellent service, delicious and affordable cakes. Not to mention their excellent customer service and compassionate people. When I mentioned to them about our cancer terminal friend whose last wish was to see his daughter get married but due to his illness, they couldn’t afford it, without any hesitation Michael, the bakery owner gave us 50% off as a donation on making this wish possible. I couldn’t believe it. Their gesture speaks well about the owner and their business. If you need a good cake without spending a fortune then you need to try this cakes, the banana filling cake is amazing.

This is the only place that my family and I have been buying our birthday cakes, for over 20 years. The cakes are always great, yummy and not too sweet. My favorite are the fruit tart pie and the fruit cake w/​coconut on the side. I also almost always get them with all strawberry filing. Always delicious and we always look forward to birthdays because we get to have a Mey Fung Cake.
The location itself looks pretty hole in the wall but is definitely not a reflection of the quality of their cakes. Parking is not the greatest as it seems very crowded in that shopping center but to tell you the truth I’ve never had any issues finding a spot because people are always coming in and out of that shopping center lot.
The only reason I don’t give 5 stars is because I’ve had a couple of instances where I’ve ordered their kids character cakes and they don’t come out looking exactly like the pictures shown on the order book. However there have been times when they did come out exactly like it so it’s really a hit or miss on that.
Their prices are also very reasonable so if you’re looking for a bakery to purchase a cake for whatever occasion, I definitely recommend you give Mey Fung a try. You will be hooked. I know we are. lol

3 Leches cakes is so delicious!
I placed a order over the phone for the next day. The lady that helped was so nice and helpful.
I dislike the fact that they don’t offer customize cake. However I still wanted them to make my cake so I got a plain cake with 3 leches and strawberry and bananas filling.
I got so many compliments & question in regard to where I got the cake.
Everyone ended loving the cake!

OMG I’ve been craving cakes from here for the past couple weeks. I went twice for their fresh strawberry cake. It’s so cheap and wonderfully delicious. They come in various sizes (and have small cakes just big enough for 2 – 4 people). My Fatty McFatterson butt can eat that all in one sitting (hence two trips in one weekend). But don’t judge, I check-​in at the gym!
They’ll add almond on the cake for a dollar or so. They make awesome tiered cakes for larger events too.

A hidden gem… Came here because im getting married and my future mother in law told me to. The bakery itself isnt great looking a bit old no parking… But the pastries are delicious. I got a cupcake to see the quality and fell in love.
The bread is so light and fluffy and spongy! Delicious and moist.
The frosting (whip cream) is the best ive ever had especially since i am not a fan of buttercream.
Did i mention they are very inexpensive i saw a wedding cake here for 500.00 that i saw somewhere else for about 1600.00

I don’t usually give 5 stars but here with this place I do. I have been eating this cake since I was a child and I love this place. Until now we order from here. My mom doesn’t like birthday cakes so to she’s a fan is the least. My whole entire family love the cake w the cream banana and strawberries. So fresh and just right amount of sweet
