Mid Valley Veterinary Hospital

Let me start off by saying I should’ve read Unilocal reviews before I was blindly recommended here through connections. They claim to have affordable prices but even after a friendly discount it’s just like going to any other vet (i.e Studio City where my friend takes her yorkie and I’ve seen her invoices that happen to be even cheaper than Mid Valley Vet). I have a yorkie puppy that I’ve taken here about 3 times, one for the initial vet check up to see if he was healthy after just bringing him home, 2^nd time for castration surgery at exactly 6 months of age & third time was for what they said it was kennel cough but it wasn’t, it was allergies as we just found out from our new vet (he has a wheezing sound NOT a cough) which Mid Valley Vet didn’t even physically check him for, they literally just looked at him and decided on kennel cough and gave him a penicillin shot for no reason. Now my problem with Mid Valley is that they absolutely do not care about your understanding or your pet’s needs. They do not take the time to explain to you what you need to know about certain concerns you may have. They literally just diagnose without even asking you anything. Now why am I writing this review now? Well because I just changed vets for this exact reason and took a list with me of concerns in his behavior and they took their time to explain each and every single one as well as solutions to them (prescription meds, advice, etc). The number one thing I am most upset about is that my new vet is telling me who ever did the castration surgery SHOULD HAVE taken out his double canines (all of them have doubles, top and bottom) since they did not fall out on their own before reaching 6 months of age. Now I call Mid Valley and ask them why they didn’t and they simply say they thought that they still had a chance to fall out on their own and the vet decided not to. I explain to them that I am aware that if by 6 months of age they hadn’t fallen out they should have taken them out! They just say oh well the vet decided not to. Are you kidding me??? Maybe they should’ve consulted me during the process if they were unsure. Now I have to put my 10 month old puppy under anesthesia AGAIN for this mess that’s going to cost me $ 635 and not even a sympathetic apology from Mid Valley, not even a trace of customer service here. I am so beyond upset, I definitely do not recommend this unprofessional establishment to ANY pet owner out there.

Great vet. I tried them just because I drove by but I am very pleased. They didn’t try to up sell me on anything. For example, I wanted to get a lump removed from my dogs belly but they flat out told me that it is a lump of fat and does not need to be removed. For someone on a budget, that means a lot. They told me to keep an eye on it and then we will discuss removal. Also, they didn’t try to get me to do X-​rays for his limp. They gave me anti-​inflammatory pills. Every vet wanted to charge me $ 500 for the same work that cost be $ 125 here. I would recommend this place to everyone. They only recommend services that are necessary. This means they care about my pet and not about money. THANK YOU!

Have had numerous experiences with Dr. Pitt and his staff. What an amazing team. I trust him with my four legged babies. Thank you all for diagnosing them correctly and for brining them back to full health. You are all wonderful. I appreciate all of you.

Arrow loves to come here and he’s been here a lot for just short of a year. The front desk girls are always so kind and love to see Arrow, or at least I think they do because they are so kind! Most the the guys I think see me as a crazy dog mom and I kind of get vibes that they get annoyed with me but they still take good care of my pup. I’ve only seen Dr. Oh and he’s pretty good with Arrow always straight to the point, although I would admit that I often need to ask questions to get details from him but he is always professional as well as friendly and helpful.
The reason for the 4 starts is because I’ve never been seen on my actual appointment time it always take so much longer. I’ve waited up to an hour and half past my appointment time. I get it it’s hard to see the the patients but it can be a bit frustrating.

The staff and doctors here are great. They have kept our pets healthy for over 12 years now. Thanks for all you do! Mid Valley Vet is the place to take your pets.

The receptionist is the most rude and unprofessional… I called for a quote for my 6 dogs for rabies and year to date. She said she didn’t know what I meant by «year to date» she just kept repeating that each shot is $ 16. I have called several vet clinics and they all knew what «year to date» was. My mom also called and she kept on hanging up on her. I wish I knew her name but it was this morning at 9:20am and 11:00am. My vet is under construction and I was looking for a new vet. People like this makes me appreciate my vet clinic and their staff. It suck because the doctors are probably really nice but the staff hinders the business.

I’ve started my draft for a review of my experience at this place for several several months now, but I never made the time to sit down and finish it. Nor will I spend much time explaining in detail the TERRIBLE experience I had here, but I will tell you this: these people completely are not interested in the well-​being and health of their patients — it is EXTREMELY evident that all they care about is getting paid. They almost let my dog DIE because they left him untreated overnight, charged me for the entire stay but failed to administer any medication (PARTICULARLY THE INSULIN HE DESPERATELY NEEDED TO STAY ALIVE), and had the audacity to come in the room and demand us to pay before they continued to treat him.
*** THEY THREATENED TO KEEP MY DOG AND HEAL HIM AND GIVE HIM UP FOR ADOPTION IF I AM UNABLE OR UNWILLING TO PAY THEIR VET BILL!!! *** THAT IS NOT LEGAL! WHY would I pay if I hadn’t seen my dog get ANY better since we had left him and he actually looked WORSE? (I still have the pictures of him from that day IN the doctors office). Yet they had the audacity to send in some rude underachiever to extract more money from us. We were forced to lose over $ 500 at this HORRENDOUS place and had to take my pet to Sherman Oaks Animal Hospital so they can ACTUALLY save his life. The vets at Sherman Oaks were APPALLED when they saw my dog in this condition and heard about what happened.
Additionally, when I talked to a lawyer about this case, (coincidentally) they informed me that they’ve had another person file a lawsuit against Mid Valley for breaking their little chihuahua’s jaw and rendering him incapable of eating alone. The lawyers assistant said he was familiar with them and that there had been several people with bad experiences at this establishment.
My mom took my dog to this place without notifying me because it was was an EMERGENCY and they were really close by. She hadn’t even considered looking at the reviews. I URGE YOU to read and acknowledge these reviews. These are real people with REAL and terrible experiences. What these «vets» are doing is a CRIME! IT IS FRAUD! These individuals really do not deserve your business, because that’s JUST what they see it as – business! They don’t care about your pets damn life.
I kindly request you to consider your pets well being and AVOID THIS PLACE COMPLETELY! I can’t wait until I see them finally get shut down.
P. S. I have absolutely no gain from «destroying the reputation» of this establishment. I guarantee that my experience and review is 110% accurate and I am willing to join any one who wants to pursue legal measures. I have ALL the evidence I need from before/​after pictures, medical bills, medical diagnostics summaries, vet comments, etc.

My family have been going to this facility for many years now. I have taken more then one fur baby there as well as others in my family have taken there fur babies too. When my first dog died the day after a visit there, I couldn’t really point fingers so I didn’t.
I made an appointment over a month in advance to have my new dog spayed. I did this in advance because I needed to make previsions for after care for my fur baby.
I go to drop off my dog at 7am and right before I left I asked who would be performing the surgery. At that time the woman tells me that Dr. Oh is on vacation and Dr. Pitt is on a «personal leave» til April. APRIL?
Don’t you think that it would be standard to let your customers know when the TWO vets you are going to see are BOTH not there? Guess not. Then she tells me the name of the vet and that she doesn’t know her and was visiting the clinic for the first time. They didn’t even know her first name. WOW.
My gut then was take the dog and run. But I didn’t. I called 3 times before 9am to speak with the «manager» but was still not in yet.
I finally get a call back right around 9am letting me know the first name of the doctor so I can of course look her up, find out a little about her. I couldn’t find ANYTHING on her. She isn’t even from California which I found out on the THIRD call from her. So lets get to that, She calls me the first time and tries to talk me into rescheduling the surgery because she doesn’t feel comfortable doing it because I do not know her and she doesn’t do these kind of surgeries often. Went on to bash the clinic as well saying she doesn’t know where anything is because they are so disorganized (not sure that is true). After the 3^rd time she contacted me, she told me she was (the Dr.) sleep deprived (up since 4am to catch a flight) and very hungry (hadn’t eaten yet (it was 12:55pm). Once again, she did not want to do the surgery. I again explained how this appointment was made way in advance. She then got an attitude with me and said that she wouldn’t be getting the surgery done now until 4pm and was not going to be able to monitor the dog properly and I would be more then likely paying a visit to the emergency room from complications later in the evening. I asked to speak with the front desk area and voiced my concerns. The «manager» Liz became somewhat rude. Again, they have my PERSON there in the clinic so I have to walk on eggshells here. (HOW SAD THAT IM AFRAID TO SPEAK MY MIND AFTER THE WAY THEY TALK) The tone in their voices (all of them) is so impersonal its almost scary. I feel no love for animals from any of them EXCEPT ROSIE!!!
I call another vet, one that has seen my dog before, and they said to call and see if she had gone into surgery yet. I did that, and they said she was already in surgery. I asked the girl that answered if I could talk to the «manager». When she (manager) got on the phone she was YELLING at me saying how dare I do this and how dangerous it is to bring a dog out of anesthetic. HUH? No idea why she got on the phone to say that to me when all I did was ask to speak to the manager. She said «come get your dog we ARE NOT going to do the surgery» and hung up the phone. Nice… When I got there, only one person at the desk, phones are ringing off the hook, no one helping her answer phones, but she wasn’t answering them either. She was talking to a customer on another line. Not acknowledging myself, nor putting the person on hold to answer the other incoming calls.
My experience was horrible and I don’t wish this on anyone.
Remember…Your animal is part of the family and they deserve to be treated with love and care not fear! Makes you think…

I couldn’t say enough great things about Dr. Pitt and everyone on his staff. They all truly care about our pets, and give them excellent care. I have been to many vets in the valley over the years, and Mid Valley has the best prices for the super care they provide. They are honest and thorough and I never worry about our pets being there. In my family we have taken over 12 pets to them!

We took our Rott in because she tore her ACL (knee ligaments). They quickly took us in and explained everything. All costs where disclosed up front. We opted to have her undergo the TPLO procedure and it was done that same day. We shopped around prior to going to MIdValley Vet Hospital and and they had very competitive prices. We liked their all inclusive pricing. All aspects of the surgery were included in that one price. We picked her up the next day and she was well bandaged. Overall, we are very satisfied with the cost, vets, and staff.
Update — 1÷30÷16
Our girl made a full recovery and she is happy to be able to move around. As promised by the Vet, there were no extra charges for all the X-​rays (almost every 2 weeks for 2 months), and no charge for extra pain meds. Go here with confidence if you need a TPLO for your pup!

Luckily we’ve only had to visit this vet a couple of times but am so pleased with the level of attention here. We’ve seen Dr. Oh on both occasions and he has been very attentive and thorough in his explanations. They are flexible with appointments and their hours are great for people who work /​can only make appointments on the weekends.

This is a terrific clinic, especially for the big stuff (ie. expensive surgeries).
I’ve been taking my 115 lbs Shepherd there for over two years — he has had two ACL surgeries. They charged me $ 2800 for the first knee (and that’s for everything — x-​rays all during recovery, pain meds, antibiotics, sedatives, rehab if needed). Two years later, the price had gone up slightly but they charged me the same $ 2800. Dr. Pitt is a very, very gifted surgeon. I never wait long. The prices are competitive. The aides and front desk staff are efficient.
PS. I realize it doesn’t make a direct difference for your pet, but this clinic also reduces its surgery prices extensively for rescue dogs, which is awesome. Another reason to patronize this business! (Yesterday I met a lab that had been hung (!) in a Korean meat market, dislocating its legs and knees. A rescue paid to fly it to So Cal and Mid-​Valley cut its surgery fee to help reattach the dog’s kneecap and tendons.)

I cannot say enough. I found a kitten on the side of the road and took him to a vet that said he needed a leg amputation and to see a specialist. The specialist confirmed it was needed and was going to charge me $ 3500 for the procedure. Being that I literally just found this cat, I was not going to pay that kind of money.
I then took him to Mid Valley Vet. Not only did they do it for $ 1100… But they did it well. Also they were the cheapest out of EVERY reputable place I called in the SF Valley.
*This place is very clean
*They quoted me over the phone and didn’t charge a DIME over what they quoted me
*The doctor is very knowledgable, he cared and even helped me to figure out the cause of this kittens condition (which the specialist couldn’t figure out)
*The staff is friendly
*They are great with follow up, after the surgery, in the evening, the next morning… Etc.
*Organized and scheduled quickly
I will be taking my dog and newfound kitten here for anything they need.

I’ve been taking my dogs to Dr. Pitt for over 20 years. Dr. Pitt used to be with Sherman Oaks Animal Hospital, which to me is a butcher shop. Dr. Pitt was with them, and when he left, I followed him. Dr. Pitt is the most caring, compassionate veterinarian on the planet. I just got off the phone with him [on a Sunday]. He is a dog lover, dog owner, and compassionate individual. He’s concious of things like how much treatment costs the owner, schedule, etc. I have to drive 40 minutes to get there and I live within walking distance of of a local animal hospital. What does that tell you? The staff there is also great. If you come here, rest assured your pet is in the best hands possible.

Thank you for saving my dog’s life, Junior was great the whole staff was. Vet’s are very good at there job. I highly recommend this place for animal emergencies and every vacinations. It was worth every penny I spent to see my dog come back to life.

Brought my small chihuahua mix in for a limp. Staff is super friendly and helpful. They do love the animals. I had an appointment so my visit was not too long. Dr Oh was friendly and did his exam and suggested n xray with we did and poor pup had a fracture. They splinted and bandaged her up. And we were on our way. They took good care of my pup.

Mid Valley Veterinary Hospital is truly amazing! All of my animals I have rescued over the years are cared for at this facility. They are well cared for by all doctors and staff and I feel extremely confident every time there is an issue or just an annual check up! The facility is always clean, which I love because they get extremely busy just about all day everyday! My family and friends also love Dr. Pitt/​Dr. Oh and staff! Thank you for always making Dax feel better, he loves you guys!!!

Dr. OH… The Best!!! I Took My Maltese Here For Teeth Cleaning Due To My Vet In L.A. Finally Gave Me A Not So Good Visit. I DecidedTo Search For A Local Valley Vet So That I Don’t Have To Drive To L.A., Well I Ran across Mid Valley, I Took Chyna In On April 27^th, And I Must Say I Have Found Chyna A New Vet Dr… They Had Everything Available To Treat Chyna The Same Day, Even Down To Having The On Site Availability To Do Blood Work For Right Away Results. Dr Oh Was Great With Chyna Took Care Of Her Dental Needs With Care And Providing My Husband And I Understandable Explanation As To the Need To Extract Multiple Teeth. The Front Desk Staff Was Great! A Very Nice And Clean Clinic. DR OH, I CAN’T THANK YOU ENOUGH! CHYNA IS NOW FEELING SO MUCH BETTER AS YOU ADVISED SHE WOULD… I’M 4EVER SO THANKFUL FOR MID ANIMAL HOSPITAL!!!

I strongly recommend Mid Valley Veterinary Hospital. My Mona was very ill with Parvo, lesson learned on my end. But the staff from Yecenia and the girls atreception to Doctors Oh and Pitt were so very helpful, kind, patient, professional and knowledgeable. Mona thankfully has made a full recovery and my experience at Mid Valley has been nothing short of amazing. Complete gratitude for the hardwork and diligence of her care.

I have finally found a good vet in the Los Angeles area!!!
Sounds crazy but it has been extremely difficult to find a place which:
1. Has a friendly and competent staff
2. Does not try to screw you over by overcharging for every visit
3. Provides clear recommendations as opposed to a long lists of confusing options
If you have struggled with this as much as we have, I am happy to announce: THIS is the place for you!
We have an English bulldog (Brutus) and a cav king charles mix (Chester). Like most bulldogs, ours struggles with a number of health issues (allergies, infections, acne etc). So we were in desperate need for a trustworthy pro to assist in keeping him in good shape.
Most recently he injured both back legs in a freak accident and needed a TPLO (surgery to stabilize his ruptured cruciate ligament). After getting a pricey cost estimate from a different vet, we came here for a second opinion. We really could not have hoped for a better team. Between the über qualified front desk lady (Juliana), the vet Dr Pitt and the surgeon Dr Barrett — we have died and gone to Pet heaven. I am so grateful for this referral from Bone Sweet Bone in Studio City. Location is not super convenient even when you live in the valley, but so worth the drive.
Surgery was last week and not only did we get a great deal on the procedure, the amazing follow up and advice from this team has been priceless. I can’t vouch for any of the other vets but if you stick with this (dream) team there will be no more sleepless nights worrying about your furry babies.
