Very average sandwich in taste. Had the #21 + BLT. BLT was best of what we ordered. Sandwiches had fresh ingredients, soft bread, were large in size and looked great. The #21 just had a bit of a bland taste to it. Maybe it needed more condiments?

My mother and father started building this place from scratch back in 1998 or 1999 and sold it in 2002 right after I turned 1 years old. Actually had my birthday party there! They rented the space it had previously been a travel agency, and was an empty shell. The map on the wall was already there and that is still there today(they kept it for a reason). And the mural of New York was placed before 911, we didn’t want to remove it because it was so significant. You won’t see that landscape again So happy to see it still flourishing today. Awesome! Good job to the new owners. Thank you for keeping small business peeps alive.

Food is good for a Sandwich shop. Definitely fills that need when you are craving a classic. The staff are friendly. The location could use a remodel, as it feels a little outdated, although that doesn’t take away from the experience as it is clean and welcoming.

I ordered a ½ turkey, bacon and guacamole on sourdough with a cup of chicken soup. Perfect amount of food but more important, it was delicious. The bread is thick and the turkey was like something you carved yourself. As for the bacon, it’s bacon. The only thing that made it even yummier was the fact it was hot off the stove. Perfect compliment to the cool and tasty guacomole. Service was super pronto even with the line at the counter.

I was in the place less then 5 minutes before I asked for my money back and walked out. WORST front service I’ve ever had! I had never been before and was looking for a good sandwich place in my area to maybe start frequenting. I walked up to the counter and the girl just stared at me and said nothing. I ordered and she didn’t say a word. When I asked if they had sides or soups it was as if I was an inconvenience. Who ever they have taking orders upfront is doing NOTHING for their business. After paying 12.00 for a sandwich I decided I wasn’t going to spend that kind of money and be treated that way I asked for my money back and left. I live and work downtown and this could have been a place a would have gone to regularly but I am telling everyone to not bother! There’s plenty other places to go downtown where you can get good service and good food seriously skip this place. I’ll be going to Blue Door Bakery or Rosemary café from now on for a good sandwich. I would give it ZERO stars if I could.

This is a great little sandwich shop in downtown Vancouver, They serve great tasting and high quality food. Obviously the bulk of their business is the sandwiches but the soup and cookies here are top notch as well. On my last visit I had the turkey and cream cheese sandwich and had them add cranberry sauce. It was very good as was the cookie I got with it The friend I was with had the soup and a sandwich(they happily gave him something to wrap half of it as he couldn’t finish it so took the half sandwich for his break at work). Everything was really good including the service. Tip before you drive over check out their very limited hours. 8am to 3 pm and they are closed on weekends. If they had better hours I might give them a five star rating as it is four will do as their hours make them less convenient for me… and this is my highly subjective score.

After driving past this place a dozen times when they were closed I finally remember to stop in during weekday hours and am glad I did. Compared to Vancouver’s other sandwich options(*cough* subway *cough) this place is an easy call… Quality options, lots of toppings, hot food, a real deli. More importantly however the staff just rocks. Sure, it’s walk up and take your order but they’re totally engaged, chatty and go out of their way to make sure you’ll like your meal even if it’s just a sandwich. Just wish they were open a little more often!

Super great place for fresh salads, sandwiches made to order, and delicious soups. I especially like the Sausage, Potato, and Kale soup! It is perfect on a chilly day.

I love this place! It’s like my personal Cheers — I walk in and everyone knows my name. The sandwiches are fresh, big and they are super friendly. They get really busy, so I usually call mine in ahead of time. Been going here for over a year now and still love it. Two finger licking thumbs up!

First off, the ladies working here are supremely nice. They were helpful, kind, and super welcoming for our first time to City Sandwich. The space is comfy and urban, but in a way that says«enjoy your meal» instead of «get a meal and get out!» More importantly, the food is impressive for a small looking sandwich place. Very pleased, only reason it didn’t get a 5⁄5 was the weirdly placed photo of the Twin Towers inside… but I’m coming back again soon!

I know many people are going to make a big deal about the 8 – 3 M-F hours but I get that. Their target customers are those people who work in downtown Vancouver and they have been there for a long time so they are definitely doing it right. I had to wait a long time for my schedule and money to match up allowing me to try it out since I usually don’t work downtown but it was well worth the wait and their burger was great. I loved the atmosphere and if I get a job in the downtown area may look at making it one of my daily lunch spots.

This place is over priced with low quality ingredients. We went in and the sour dough sandwich bread was just pre sliced plain white bread. Meat was clearly low quality and tasted like something you would get at a discount supermarket. Also the staff was not friendly.

Great service, but the sandwiches weren’t anything special. also, they were out of onion, and cucumber. Been looking for a great new location to frequent, and this is not that place.

Great big sandwiches — bring a friend to share. The soup could’ve been a little warmer, but they just opened for the day. Friendly service … when we visit the NW again, we’ll be picking up another delicious greatness.

This place is so welcoming and inviting. And the girls here make the best sandwiches in downtown Vancouver. Eating a ham egg and cheese on rye right now! Came here a couple weeks ago and had a turkey bacon for lunch and it was phenomenal!!!
