I had Kaluha Pig. It was a bit salty. More than I like it anyway. The Mac salad was bland. My wife had coconut prawns. She enjoyed them but they looked a lot like Costco’s Coconut Prawns. The staff was very pleasant though. I kinda doubt that we will return.

Incredibly friendly staff! Food was tasty; had spam musubi, moco loco, chicken katsu and their teriyaki burger(two trips). The latte with a hint of hazelnut was amazing!!! Best coffee I’ve had in a long while.

LOVE this place. Food is wonderful and service is very friendly and prompt. Reasonably priced as well. Wish I knew where they got their pineapple mustard from… I would put it on everything.

Was in transit on the way to Seattle and hungry. Hawaiian breakfast on Unilocal?Detourrrrrr. Staff was kind. Ordered a coffee, loco moco, and house made sweet roll. Food took a substantial amount of time to arrive, considering I was the only customer in there. Loco moco was good but not as good as I’ve had elsewhere. Hamburger patty was hard and almost grisly, though eggs were cooked nicely. Sweet roll… Alright, I must be a fat American because I was expecting one that was bigger than a 1.5 inch square considering how it was 1.50. The bread was toasted, which was a nice touch, and served with a dollop of coconut butter. Coffee was very good. The part that made me raise an eyebrow was when the staff member wanted to charge me an entirely separate fee to get a cup of coffee to go, even though I already ordered and paid for the one cup I had. I don’t think that’s something even MY penny-pinching people would do at a Chinese restaurant. They have some affordable lunch specials which looked good. It might be worth a try if you live locally, but I wouldn’t make it the top of your list if you are just passing through town.

If you’re from Hawaii you may not want to go here. If you ever wondered what happens when Haole meets Hawaiian in the food industry, this is it. Pretty good rice though.

I love this place! Outstanding customer service(it really doesn’t get any better than here), excellent food, and extremely family friendly! Yes, the place is smallish, but the best places always are. ;) My go to is the blue plate special with kalua pig, white rice, and salad. Their teriyaki sauce is homemade and just the right amount of sweetness. Their ranch is good quality – not too thick, not too runny and tastes great. Now for the kalua pig. In the past, I have had it taste a tad on the salty side. This is because, like the best home cooking, they eyeball the meat and try to add just enough for that particular cut. Since the cuts come in all different shapes and sizes… they have pretty much perfected it at this point tho but hey, they’re human. Every now and then you might get a batch that’s a little saltier than others, which in that case I just get extra ranch to dip it in. ;) Overall tho… their kalua pig is hands down the best I’ve(and many others I’ve talked to) have tasted. I crave that stuff! I’ve also had the coconut shrimp, kalbi beef, and teriyaki chicken. All excellent choices as well. And the burgers I’ve seen coming out of that kitchen… holy crap! HUGE! And juicy! The portions are large and the prices are fair. My kids like this place better than the yellow arches!!! To top it off don’t overlook the haupia! Creamy coconut goodness I can never get enough of!!! ^.^ nom nom nom…

I stopped in the parking lot to get my directions straight and saw this place. Good service and awesome shrimp. I especially liked that fact that a telemarketer called during the lunch rush and the owner said«yes this is she, and you are calling a restaurant during lunch goodbye just like we all do when we get frustrated with telemarketers. lol seriously I should have ordered more of the coconut shrimp. best I ever had. :) Also didn’t hurt that she was a nascar fan. :)

Very friendly, inviting décor, nice friendly staff… order took a little while to prepare but was well worth the wait. Teriyaki sauce was spicy/interesting and a cut above what one normally encounters. The beef could have been a little more tender but the sauce really helped the combination along with the spot-on sticky white rice. The house dressing was very good. The«chaser» of a Spam Musubi was enhanced by the meat being grilled… small point perhaps, but you’d be surprised how many local places overlook that detail: all in all, a very good place with numerous special touches throughout their offerings, well worth revisiting!

For a lunch place with fantastic service and cute décor this is a nice place. You need to factor the Hawaiian cuisine with generous portions of rice and plenty salty! This is a fun casual place at a store front location. This beats a burger or other fast food and the service team is nice.

The must have: The pineapple mustard. Just… wow. I ordered it with my coconut shrimp. The shrimp in and of itself was very, very good, and in that kind of case, I usually don’t like to overdo the flavor profile by adding sauce. But because it’s their pineapple mustard sauce… that was not a problem. I ordered: A mixed plate lunch, with coconut shrimp and kalua pig. In hindsight, I should have just gone for the gusto with the coconut shrimp. Not that there was anything wrong with the kalua pig, the coconut shrimp was just that good. The kalua pig was actually excellent, and there was a LOT of it.(I love kalua pig, but for some reason, I can only eat a little at a time.) The rice was perfect, and I ordered mac salad with the deal. It was very simple: just the noodles, dressing, and pepper. The dressing was a bit more tart than I normally like it, but it was peppered to perfection. The service: Very, very friendly and hospitable. Maybe bordering on overly chatty, but it’s not terrible. As a result, it’s not fast, but for a casual place where you like to linger, that’s not so bad. The one big critique: extra teriyaki sauce with the meal is not a given. I definitely need a little extra something on my kalua pig. Otherwise, I wish they could live in my kitchen and feed me every day!

This is only the 2nd time I have been let down by Unilocal reviews. Maybe I had overly high expectations, but I was really disappointed by the food. I ordered the Kalua pork plate and requested ½ lo mein and ½ rice portions. Was told that I could not do that… no explanation, just not possible. Received my plate and was impressed with the generous portion of pork, however, it was really salty. I enjoy highly seasoned food, yet this was just too much. The mac salad, on the other hand, was under-seasoned and my side of lo mein was tough and extremely dry. Based on the temperature variance of the noodles from cold to hot, I expect they were reheated in a microwave. The café is pretty cute inside, given that it’s in a strip mall, and they play inviting Hawaiian music. Hoping I just caught them on a bad day.

Oh boy these folks know how to put together a pleasing and filling plate! Their pulled pork is a winnah! From an academic standpoint from a fella who is always looking to augment and improve his store of bbq mastery, I’d love to pick these folks’ brains on how they prep their meats. I know that many people are very guarded about their techniques and«family recipes.» But Heck, they could bundle it up and copyright all of it and sell it online, I’d pay good money for that kind of knowledge! Looking forward to returning to check out more menu items, this star review has much potential to shoot the moon…

Kahlua pig is very tasty but I do agree with another Unilocaler that it is a little salty. Just a warning to those of you that add salt before tasting your food. The staff there during the week are just lovely and very helpful. This is one of my daughter’s favorite places and I’m glad when she asks me to meet her there for a quick weekday lunch.

So we returned on a weekend. In fact, we’ve returned multiple weekends since the last review. With that in mind, I feel completely confident in stating that our previous weekend experience must have been a severe anomaly. Seriously. We’ve since met the owners– not difficult considering the fact that they are the wait staff. And you know what? I haven’t felt this good going to a Hawaiian restaurant since Kuhio Grill in Hilo 1997. Not just friendly, *warm* and friendly. Aloha Spirit abounds. Fo’ real. And business is reflecting that– they are usually slammed now with large groups on the weekends. As such, the kitchen can be overwhelmed at times, so bring your sense of humor and be prepared to kick back, relax, and spend some island time«talking stories» with your table. Food is still ‘ono. Prices are still reasonable. The increased wait time still keeps it at 4 stars. And watch out for that Krispy Crème bread pudding. A la mode. Crazy.

Oh yum! The man and I got the Bento lunch specials — Katsu chicken for him, Kalua pig(house specialty) for me. One taste and WOW! The pork was tender and perfectly seasoned and it went very well with the fluffy brown rice I got with it. Portions were very generous and I was very sad when my belly was full and my plate was empty — because I wanted more. In fact, I still do. You have to try this place. It’s awesome. Oh, and get the banana-eggroll-ice cream thing for dessert. DELICIOUS!

Great spot to pick up an excellent meal. While they are a Hawaiian café, they do offer standard ‘café’ fare. Daily lunch specials, as well as a Friday ‘early bird’ special. Staff is friendly, food is excellent and location is perfect!(my office is just around the corner:))
