Ugh. The DMV. Typically a horrible experience. This one just happens to be different. There are signs everywhere promising friendly service and they actually deliver! I will go out of my way to get to this office in the future.

Going to the DMV here is such a 180° from going to the DMV in San Francisco. When I arrived, around 2pm, there were about three people waiting in seats, including myself. I didn’t even need to sit really as my wait time was less than three minutes. Everything is digital so there are no paper forms to fill out. Now if only my photo had turned out a bit better… c’est la vie.

No one likes going to the DMV/​DOL. Its always one of those tasks that you put off until the very last minute because you just can’t work yourself up to actually bite the bullet and go. There have been times I have visted various locations and leave literally sat there for hours waiting for my turn. Then you get to the window and the cranky lady has it in for you from the start. Well, I’m pleased to report that my experience at the downtown Vancouver DOL was NOTHING like that. I arrived promptly at 9AM on a Wednesday morning and braced to see the line already around the building. But wait — there was no line. Hmm… peculiar. I went inside and against braced for impact. But wait — there was no line there either. I grabbed my ticket and before I could even take a seat, I was being called up to the window. There was a nice comfy chair to sit in and the lady behind the counter was pleasant and greeted me good morning. My transaction took all of 10 minutes at the most (titling and registering a car I recently purchased) and was hassle free. I left feeling undefeated and calm! What a change! I’ll definitely frequent this location again!
