I’ve only made it here a few times, but they always have exactly what I’m looking for. No, seriously. The first time I went it was on an impulse and I found a Star Trek paperback that’s out of print that I’ve been looking for for about a year. It’s a small-ish store, but they don’t waste space and it’s incredibly well organized. The owners and friendly and know their stuff. And the best part? It’s affordable. Thank you, Interstellar Overdrive!

Got all your Sci– Fi right here. Horror and fantasy too. It’s a niche store but if you are looking for a title in any of those genres, you have an excellent chance of finding it here. I don’t know if kids today have much use for books as an entertainment alternative. Bummer for them, if not. There are probably a ton of books that won’t make the journey to E– readers or the internet. It bums me out that a current 14 year old might never be able to do more than skim the surface of some classic authors. Get ‘em while they’re still gettable.

Super friendly shop with tons of options. I had a few titles bouncing around in my brain(Red Mars, Stranger in a Strange Land) that I didn’t find. Almost bought a copy of Bradbury’s Dandelion Wine except their pricing scheme was a bit high for my taste. Anything not labeled is ½ price plus $.50. And a minimum of $ 2. So this old battered copy marked 60 cents was $ 2. A bit high, in my humble opinion. But way cool place and an easy way to spend an hour in Vancouver. They take debit too. And free parking.

Excellent selection. A lot of hard to find out-of-print books and recently published books. The guy working there, who I think is the owner, was very knowledgeable and helpful. I bought some books from some of my favorite authors that I didn’t even know existed. Book stores are struggling these days. Gotta keep these guys in business and shop local.

Interstellar Overdrive is a used bookstore for Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror books. The store is small but very clean and tidy. No hunting for books here; they’re all well organized. All the books I looked over were in very good or better condition, with no stains, rips or missing pages. Prices are quite reasonable — most of the paperbacks I bought were $ 2 to $ 3, which is significantly less than some of the other bookstores in the area. Their are no price stickers on the books; the pricing is based on a formula involving the original published price. The location is in a little strip mall(look for the Shell gas station on the corner). There is always plenty of free parking. So to sum up, it’s clean, organized, good quality and cheap — what more can you ask from your local independent bookstore?
