Upon my arrival the first thing I noticed was a homeless man and cart right by the front door. The front area was eh… The clientele looked a little down on their luck. You go back to the dental area(what is with the communal chairs?) and there was mud chunks all over the floor. The general feel of the practice… the word that pops in my mind is ghetto. I felt like I was part of the human mill moving in an out and they already had appointments set for me on a piece of paper as I was shuffled out(how do you know *if* and what day I will be available?). If you can find another practice, pretty much any other practice I’d go with it. I have the feeling that the only reason that people go there is that they pretty much accept any form of dental insurance.

After making an appointment with this dentistry for the first time, Kool Smiles followed through on calling back to make sure we were confirmed for our appointment. When we arrived the staff was friendly and helpful. I will admit that their video game systems were in bad shape, but the TV worked and the kids were entertained. The dentist was thorough, and our son felt comfortable the whole time. All in all it was a good experience and their set up is impressive. You can also make appointments for all your kids at the same time so you don’t have to keep coming back.

We went in when the office was brand new… Each appointment after things went further downhill. Last time, everything was broken and in very rough shape in the waiting room(they had not even been open a year I don’t think?), the wait was almost an hour from the appointment time, when we did go back, they ask the parent to stay in the waiting room so after the appointment when they met with me, I asked about a mark on my 5 year olds c heek and they just said they were not sure, it ended up being a scab on her cheek(about the size of a dime) for weeks after. We did 9 appointments(between my 3 kids) and each one was more and more disappointing. At the last appointment I told the hygienist that we would not be coming back again.

I was very excited to take my son to this dental office. The website makes it look so fun and kid centered. From the moment I walked in I did not have a good feeling about it. This was confirmed once we were taken to the dental work room. It was a room with 8 dental chairs all together. The Dr came out to talk with us. He didn’t shake my hand or introduce himself to my son or even ask my name. I don’t even think he smiled. The other dentists/hygienists were talking badly about one of the other dentist/hygienists every time she would leave the room. There were two other young boys laying back in the chairs and no one was paying any attention to them or talking to them at all. For a business that markets themselves as kid friendly, they really failed at being friendly at all! We sat around for 20 minutes being ignored after the doctor did his exam, just waiting for the fluoride. We’re all in the same room and they just ignored us. No one treated my son as a patient or gave him any attention. Then… the only prizes they had for my 5 year old was a rubber lizard or a broken pair of sun glasses. Oh fun. Made my other son an appt elsewhere. We will not be returning.
