You want to take your furry loved ones to a doctor who cares as much as you do? Then this is where you should be going!
Dr Eric has been there for… uuummm… well, forever pretty much. He started as a volunteer/​kennel cleaner if I recall correctly, and eventually grew up and went to Veterinary school coming home to buy the place, or become a partner (Not sure which… but the point is that he is one very awesome Vet!).
The gals up front are always helpful, and friendly and greet your pets like they are the most important «person» there. I also know many others who use this office and they are all very happy with the services received, also.
We do miss Jeannie when we come in, but thankfully (for me, anyway) she is working the reception counter at another business I frequent, so I still get to see her smiling face.

The best place in Vancouver, Wa. that I have been for my animals. They definitely care about their customers and animals. True professionals and although always busy, they never let us see them sweat! I appreciate them! I can count on them. Sometimes it’s a bit of a wait over my scheduled appointment, but they always are working for the better of the animal and are doing their best to get you in and taken care of. Also, the other customers with their animals are pretty great also and always friendly.

My family has been bringing our furbabies here for as long as I can remember. From my childhood pets to my current puppy kids, they’ve been given the best care imaginable at a very affordable price. The wait can be atrocious at times even if you have a previously scheduled appointment, but that just means it’s a fantastic place to go! My little girl puppy doesn’t like the thermometer in her tushy, so the vets have always been accommodating to her modesty. I love that! I’ll continue to bring my furry family members here for as long as they’re in operation!

We have been bringing our dog to Dr. Eric for a few years now. He’s removed some tumors from her a few times. Our dog loves Dr. Eric and we can tell that he truly cares for her. He took the time to explain to me what was going on with her cancer and how we can best treat her.
However, there’s another Dr. there (I can’t remember his name) who just didn’t care at all. When we first got the diagnosis of the cancer he called to let me know. I was wanting to ask some questions so I had requested that my fiancé not be the first contact and that I be called instead. Well he called my fiancé and gave him the news and that was that. I called back asking to speak to him, I let the front office know that I had some questions about the prognosis and what to expect. The first thing he says to me when he picks the phone up was «there was no confusion on my part when I spoke to your fiancé». Very defensive and not responsive to my questions.
I was able to speak to Dr. Eric the next day who put my concerns to rest and answered all my questions.
A few suggestions: get a bigger waiting room. What if someone has an aggressive animal in there? There is not much room at all and I don’t want my dog near an aggressive dog if they were to by chance attack.
Also, there needs to constantly be someone at the front desk to check people in. We checked in 30 minutes late to my dogs surgery because they were so backed up. And I was there an hour early. I stood there FOR AN HOUR to check my dog in. People are patient, but there are the people that will walk straight up to the counter and think they’re next in line when there’s 10 or more there first. There is no organization to it at all.
We will continue to go back, but only because of Dr. Eric.

I have written several reviews, we were going to Orchards for quite some time over the years. I think Dr. Eric truly loves what he does, and is well liked in the community. I think the practice overall is very popular. Last fall, we lost one of our two elderly chihuahuas, DD. I talked to Dr Eric, but it was 15 mins until closing, and I was not able to get her there in time. She died in my arms at home. Our other dog, Anna, was diagnosed with a tumor in her stomach. Dr. Eric did an x-​ray, and I by choice, waited until the next day to have her euthanized. I knew he was unavailable, but we needed to do it for her relief. Very, very hard after 14 years with our sweet girl. The vet, a woman, was very matter of fact. However, when she gave her the shot, we didn’t realize it was only one shot that would stop her heart. We thought (and others agreed with us) they would give her one to relax her, and you could spend time with her, and then they come in and give the final injection. Then, she proceeded to wrap her up like a burrito in a blanket, and handed her over to my husband. I stumbled out of there in shock… so cold. Maybe I expect some compassion. most pet owners love their animals, and when this time comes, expect a vet to be more compassionate and understanding. My husband and I cannot talk about this, as it was one of the most difficult days.

We recently moved to Washington and this place was highly recommended by a friend. Our first visit was wonderful. We are so glad to have found a place that supports their community, supports military vets and obviously cares very much for animals.
Before raving about how much we loved everyone at this clinic, I want to speak to some of the negative comments/​reviews that I read below. First, if you don’t like the tone of someone’s voice and it annoys you, is that REALLY a viable reason to give a lower rating? I think not. Regarding the wait time — yes, we did notice that it was very busy and there was a wait at almost every stage of our visit. That said, no one was impatient and everyone seemed very happy and understanding. Could that be, perhaps, because the staff is amazing? Does it take longer maybe because the doctors spend as much time as needed with you to ensure your pets are thoroughly taken care of? Is it this busy because this place ROCKS?
My answer to the above questions would be a resounding YES.
OK, enough sarcasm.
So our experience was awesome. We were greeted with friendly smiles, and filled out paperwork. We have two medium sized dogs and Dr. N took plenty of time examining them, but first getting down on the floor and making them comfortable. Our dog that never gives licks or kisses was licking Dr. N within 30 seconds. They loved him and so did we. The Doctor was knowledgeable about our breed and it was obvious he loved animals and wanted to give them the best care. All of our questions were answered and we were very happy with the exam and consultation.
By the time we were done and waiting for our final bill and medications, the waiting room was full and we did have to wait about 20 minutes to close out our bill for that visit because they were so busy. I didn’t mind at all as I was able to see how all of the other pets were handled and how happy the other patrons were.
The cherry on top? The bill was MUCH less than we expected it to be. Compared to our other vet, it was about half of what we might have normally paid.
Yep, we are sold. Love this place and the people, we are so glad we found you!

They are always Friendly. They try to keep you from spending too much, instead of trying to get all your money, like other vets. Best care at the best price, hard to find… always busy, but thats what happens when you are the best in town.

My parents have been taking their dogs (dogs I grew up with in the past and their current dogs) to orchards vet for years. I took my cat in when he was really ill and my cat had to stay there for two days. Dr. Atwell called me at least once or twice every day with check-​ins regarding my cat’s health and new information. My cat had very progressive liver cancer and we had to put him to sleep. Dr. Atwell allowed me to come after hours to put him to sleep. They were so sympathetic and really seemed to love cat too. They sent me a sympathy card after the fact in which every staff member signed and there was a hand written note regarding my loss. I now take my puppy there and Dr. Atwell and Dr. Snowden are amazing! They have helped my puppy through parvo and kennel cough. They are so knowledgeable but most of all, you can tell they really care. As far as the staff is concerned, they are all incredibly nice and helpful. They’ve saved me appointments by giving me advice over the phone when I was going to schedule one.
I thoroughly trust this clinic and would recommend this place to anyone.

This place literally saved my dogs life. I originally took my dog to Columbia River Veterinary and they charged me $ 600 to examine my dog. They said they thought his tooth was the problem and was gonna charge me another $ 1000.
I was desperate for a solution and called Orchards Vet. They said to rush my dog over. They examined him for $ 37 and Dr. Eric believed he only had a infection in his mouth. He gave him 3 shot and meds and the next day my dog was almost fully back to his normal self. Due to the expense of Columbia River veterinary we almost put our dog to sleep.
This place and Dr. Eric saved my dogs life and I can not thank them enough!!!

Where do I start! Such an amazing place! With genuine people who really are there because they love animals! The lady’s at the counter are always smiling and greet me and my doggies (children) very warmly! This is the only veterinary clinic that I have been to that my dogs actually get excited to go to! They pull me to the door! :)
We see Dr. Neilan Snowden who is soooooooo good with my dogs! I love the fact that he gets right down on the floor and spends the first few minutes creating a welcoming bond with my dogs! They really trust him and love coming to see him! He is very patient and knows what he is doing! And he doesn’t rush through any of my appointments, he always makes sure to take the extra time to make sure my dogs are at their tip top health!
Lastly I love that they aren’t all about the money here! They REALLY care about the animals! And it shows! I will NEVER go anywhere else! And I will always refer them to all my family and friends! Such an amazing clinic!

PROS — The Vet service itself was good — The Doctor was well mannered and explained everything thoroughly. This is what I’m putting first in my review because we wouldn’t be there if we didn’t need a trained professional. I’ve got nothing against the actual Vet doing the real work in the back. I trusted them with my best friends health and they delivered.
Cons — Where do I begin? That’s probably what you’ll say when you walk in and find that there simply is no line. No designation of where people can sit/​stand. It’s chaos. For a business as busy as this one seems to be it’s obscene that nobody can take 5 – 10 minutes to manage the flow of traffic through their front lobby.
The front desk attendants themselves are another matter — as it is stated elsewhere — they are nice but in a very forced sort of way. Everybody seemed totally fake and spoke in ridiculous high pitched «I’m talking to a baby/​idiot» voices which ensures that I want to deal with these people ass little as possible.
Finally, the final offense for me was the way they handle prescriptions. Want to get the prescription filled somewhere else cheaper?
THEY CHARGE $ 10 TO WRITE OUT THE SCRIPT.
Cephalexin is a $ 4 generic at almost any Pharmacy and can be used for both humans and canines. They charged me $ 14 dollars for 14 pills — a dollar a pill. In contrast, St. Francis Animal Hospital nearby gave me the script for free and I got 42 of the VERY SAME PILL for $ 4 — a measly .095 cents per pill.
I’ll return here in a pinch but I’d advise others to try and find a Vet that has its act a bit more together in the front of the house. Price gouging on medicines is wretched — the only reason they are charging $ 10 to write out the script is so that they can profit off of something you can get far cheaper elsewhere.
Vet care is already an expense most people can’t afford. How about you actually compete on pricing rather than using draconic policies to goad people into buying from you?
Long story short — great Doctors doing good work backed by a terribly managed front-​of-​the-​house team and work area.

Let me first start off by saying, I’m a crazy cat lady and we bring our 2 little and 1 not so little cats here for their tune-​ups and nail clipping. We have seen all of the doctors and all have been very competent and nice to not only us but our little brats as well. The techs at the desk are also very good however overwhelmed most of the time because its crazy busy everytime we have been in. I would say the only bad thing about this place is the cramped waiting area and the long wait sometimes. The only time we do not go to Orchards Vet is when we take our slightly overweight cat to another vet who does acupuncture (see crazy cat lady lol). Overall this clinic is great and they don’t charge an arm and a tail for simple bloodwork, office visits or meds. Would highly recommend this place especially if you don’t want to go broke while trying to keep your pets healthy

Yes this facility might be little old but i could tell all the staffs there actually cares about your pet. I rather take my dogs to place like this than nicer with fancy equipment and all they think is how much they can get $$ out of you.
I strongly recommend this place.

Orchards vet is amazing! Very Busy, it is the best in town. DR Weidenarr is so good with people and animals! They are down to earth, tell you exactly what they think might be wrong, while being reasonable, friendly, and lower then many places in town. He in particular is well experienced, but all of the Veterinarians there are always incredible and Doctor Atwell is too. We are so lucky to have such a marvelous place in town to take the best kind of care of our pets!

For as long as I’ve had my dog I have took him to this vet, such nice people work here.
They are a VERY small place and the phones are always busy and the lines are always long but its so worth the time!
I now have 2 dogs and a cat that go to this vet and we couldnt be any happier!

I have fostered some dogs through Golden Bond and this was the vet to use for the goldens. The facility is VERY old inside and the individual rooms are the size of a bathroom stall.
No bad service but the place gave me the heebie-​geebies.

I have been taking my dog and cat to Orchards Vet for a few years now and have been very pleased with their service. The staff has been very friendly and the doctor I see has been very knowledgeable. I really get the impression that they cared about my animals when I brought them in. They always seem to be busy. I feel thats a good sign also. I will continue using their service for a long time to come.
