Their Pad Thai is amazing. The medium spicy has great flavor.

Finally i or(we) have found a good thai restaurant. Found this place because it was one of the very few restaurants open on Christmas day. What a good find. Cashew vegetables, and pad woon sen or(silver noodles) with shrimp; my friend ordered panag salmon. Cashew vegetables were delicious and their was a very nice assortment of veggies… Broccoli, carrots, 2 types of fresh mushrooms, green beans, onion and cabbage. Portion was just ok. Could have been larger; but a hell of alot better then some other thai restaurants ive been to. The pad woon sen. Taste was very good, i just wish their were some vegetables with it; it was noodles and shrimp and nothing eles. Portion was just ok. My friend said his panag salmon was delicious. We enjoyed our food at Planet Thai so much that we ended up there again the very next day for lunch. And again the food was delicious. This will be top on my list when im craving thai food. I’d love to give them 5stars but the portion sizes are lacking, also for the fact that no vegetables in my noodle dish(which really should have a handful of fresh veggies) and prices are a bit high. They spiced the food fairly close to the way i like it. I got level 4 out of 5, it wasent perfect but it did have some good kick. They were very accomodating in bringing out some fresh chopped thai chillis so i could add it to my food.

Great service but the Pad Thai was way too sweet and my Larb chicken(no taste) should be served with sticky rice not steamed rice. Com’on, Planet Thai…

Wow, we saw this from the road as we were checking out the area around Salmon Creek, what a great Thai food was served. It might be our new favorite Thai stop in the pnw. All kinds of fresh veggies and multiple types of mushroom in the Tom Yum, and the flavor was outstanding.

Wow. I mean… just… wow. Maybe the best Thai food I’ve ever had. Planet Thai has a diverse menu. Ignore it and get the Beef on Fire — my wife loved it and she doesn’t like much Thai food. I had the Fish on Fire(halibut) with steamed vegetables. This alone is worth the drive from Portland. I’d eat there once a week if I could!

I’m not sure why everyone here is griping about the food and service. I just had my meal here. Having been to Thailand several times and living in predominantly Asian areas AND being Asian myself, I’ve had a lot of Thai food in my life. This place is clean, well appointed, the food was delicious, well made and prepared. The flavors are exactly what a Thai restaurant should be, the food had that fresh not overly cooked taste that a lot of Asian places can get. The staff was very attentive and a joy to be served by. Maybe it’s because I’m eating at lunchtime or maybe it’s because I am from out of town and scream city girl, but this was pretty damn good in my book.

This used to be my favorite Thai restaurant, way better than a popular spot on NW23rd in Portland(seriously!). But the food has changed. I just found out about new ownership and/or management on some other Unilocalers’ recent reviews… What a bummer! The decrease in quality is noticeable. I’ll be taking my hard-earned money elsewhere, for sure. Does anyone know where the previous owners and/or managers went? I’d like to eat at any new restaurant they may be at! :)

I wish I had reviewed Planet Thai before the change in ownership. The food was flavorful, nuanced, and consistent. I had a hankering for Thai food tonight, and since I live in Salmon Creek, the options are limited to one, but that one had never disappointed. I called in for takeout. When I tried to order crab puffs, I was informed that they are under new management and no longer have them on the menu. I ended up ordering fried spring rolls and panang curry with tofu. The spring rolls were good, if not a bit greasy. The curry flavor was a bit off — too much lime I think — but otherwise had nice flavor and good heat. It was overloaded with green beans and had 5 lonely little cubes of tofu in the whole container. It was also very runny, so overall I’d have to say that this dish(which used to be my favorite) was pretty disappointing. My biggest complaint is that the portion sizes have decreased(I agree with a previous reviewer that there seems to be about 2⁄3 as much) but the prices have stayed the same. Unless I hear that changes have taken place, I sadly will not be returning to Planet Thai.

I hate to give a bad review but, we went to planet Thai last night and not only was everything slow but our meals were also barely warm when we got them. The veggies were barely cooked and it was stir fry. The chicken had a rubbery texture to it. We have been going to planet Thai since they originally opened in Salmon Creek. We used to love it. We will not be going back. The quality is definitely in need of improvement.

I understand this place is under new managent… Chicken Rama meat looked like it was the kind you buy from the freezer aisle. From a big bag, the precooked type that still has gritty tender bits in which you can’t chew and must spit out. Bleggh gross. The peanut sauce was quite a bit more oily than before with no tiny peanut chunks within. Bummer :| House salad was alright. More pieces of fried tofu but the mushrooms and giant slices of soggy tomato are not complimenting to the salad whatsoever. Overall pretty disappointing & makes me timid to go back to see what other favorites have changed for the worse.

Not impressed with the new ownership! Planet Thai USED to be a family favorite, eating here several times a month. We won’t be coming back sadly. Same prices, smaller portions. What once used to be food full of flavor is now bland. Hopefully they can turn it around.

Don’t bother. My dad and I used to eat here once every week or two. We lived for the northern style egg noodle soup. The new management ruined everything, and now Planet Thai’s food is bland, forgettable, and disappointing. That’s a family tradition down the drain. We won’t be returning.

UNDERNEWMANAGEMENT: We ordered from one of our favorites tonight(let’s be honest, there’s not a whole hell of a lot of options in Salmon creek) and come to find out it’s under new management. We figured, okay, no biggie. We’ll try anything once. And once it is. Ugh, gross. Never again. Why do people have to go and mess with something that’s not broken???

We have eaten at this restaurant a lot. We live up in Salmon Creek, and this was pretty much the only nice restaurant up here with good food. When we opened up our menus last night, it was obvious that the restaurant was under new management. I was excited to see some new options on the menu, along with some old favorites. My kids and I ordered the chicken satay, the vegetable ginger stirfry, the pad se ew and the pad Thai. The waitress left our table without asking about spiciness levels. She apparently assumed that my kids can’t handle any heat, because none of the dishes had any spice added to them. That being said, some of the food was pretty good, much of it was mediocre. The chicken satay was mild, perfect for my preschooler. It came with peanut sauce, which was tasty. There were four sticks of chicken satay, which seemed a little more generous than what the restaurant used to serve. The ginger chicken dish with vegetables was good, but would have been improved with the addition of some spices. Lots of interesting mushrooms, and the veggies were tender but not overcooked. The pad se ew was delicious– slightly sweet, savory, with more perfectly cooked chicken and veggies. Highly recommend– just make sure they add a little heat ;-) The pad Thai noodles were under seasoned and too firm. Bummer. Splurged for an affordable dessert treat– won’t do that again. The fried ice cream seemed exactly the same as what you get at a Mexican restaurant, except it needed to be cooked a little more so the coating actually crisped up. My kids loved the whipped cream from a can that was on the side. ‘Nuf said. Staff seemed like they were still figuring stuff out. We will try again and hope that things have improved!

New Ownership :( Very disappointed that our absolute favorite local restaurant is under new ownership and the menu has changed. We’ve only tried one dish off the new menu, one that was supposed to be similar to our favorite dish. Well, the results are in… its not the same(of course) but its not even close. The prices are the same, but the serving size is 2⁄3 the size. We are very sad, probably won’t be going back. We have to find a new Thai restaurant that does fried rice the way the old owners/chef did.

Decent food. I always get the pineapple fried rice and yellow curry. Both are good.

Do you like Thai food? Are you 7,482 miles from Thailand? Well, if you want Thai food in Salmon Creek, this restaurant is the only planet with Thai food in a world without options. I’ve traveled to Planet Thai and back twice. Here are my suggestions for a successful expedition to explore these Thai tastes. * Street Vendor Chicken Wings … recipe from Sukumvit Road … I guess * Stir-fry Eggplant — Get this spicy … and then spicier * Penang Curry with Pork … a little too creamy. Add to rice. * Seafood Delight … my in-laws loved it. I didn’t. What’s new? * Egg Rolls … Fried wrap and basic. Needs a little better sauce * Red Curry with Beef — Almost the same as the Penang? * Spicy Basil Fried-Rice … needed extra Thai Chilis, so, ask for them While this may not be the best Thai food found on earth, Planet Thai does have the best Thai food in this part of Vancouver … 7,482 miles from Thailand. So, accept it for what it is … a Thai gift from the universe to your own little piece of the world.
