This has been relegated to ‘the other pool’ status over the years. Don’t get me wrong. It’s in fine shape. Everyone just seems to flock to the 2 other public pools. Fine by me. I’m not really into teeming masses of humanity, echo chamber effects and all the stuff that goes with a public indoor pool on a hot summer day. It has the little kiddo pool off to the side, a large open area and the usual roped-off lanes for swimming laps. I usually go in the afternoons during the summer. Sometimes there are 10 – 12 people here. Sometimes 2 buses worth of daycare kids are here. You pays your $ and you takes your chances. The schedule changes with the seasons so check their website before you go.

I come here to swim laps. It’s a great pool for that, with 6 lap lanes(4’2″ max depth), and nice, cool water. The family/wading/95% kid’s pee pool is smaller and very warm. It also has hot jets for those who enjoy that type of thing. Floats and paddle boards are free to use, and lockers are available. Bring your own lock. $ 4 adult entry or you can also use your month pass from the bigger community centers in Vancouver. It is part of the attached middle school which means that their hours during the school year shift from their summer hours. Make sure you download the latest schedule from their website. The other side effect from it being part of a middle school is that the shower nozzles are at about eye-height for an adult. You will have to bend down to use them, or enjoy a shower nozzle in your eye. I understand that the women’s side does have 2 extractors but on the men’s side, one of the other regulars told me that some middle schooler decided taking a dump in it would be funny. No extractor on the men’s side, welp. At least during the summer, it’s busiest between 8:30 and 9, so plan your trip accordingly.
