OMG this place is AH-MAY-ZING. I came here for a retirement party and couldn’t walk through the front door without stopping on the path to take in the amazing external details. Upon entering, I was completely blown away. I was agog at all the fascinating architectural elements. Everything from the crown molding to the gorgeous staircase to the wonderful design elements I just don’t know the names for. Woodwork everywhere. Amazing. There are 4 large rooms on the first floor: the entry/atrium, and 3 rooms off the entry area. Perfect for private parties, and mingling among groups of guests. There is also a broad front porch. I couldn’t resist going up the stairs to, you know, look for ghosts. I didn’t find any ghosts, but I found more fascinating areas of the house. Local politicians have offices up there, which I thought was really cool. I don’t know much about the history of this house — I’d love to know more — but I’m so glad I had the opportunity to enjoy this amazing location.

It was nice to see the Marshal House, but it seems like its main purpose is to rent it out for events. It does seem like a good place to host an event, but it seems odd that it is open otherwise for people to talk in and see. The upper floor is rented out to businesses(you can just walk in the hallway) and the lower floor just has a few artifacts about General George C. Marshall and a video you can watch(read: yawn). It’s honestly better to just walk down the sidewalk and look at the houses from the outside.
