Todd’s Auto Body

You have many choices in the Vancouver area about where to take your car for auto body work and I would not recommend Todd’s Auto Body. Many years ago, this was a great shop to deal with, but now, it’s not. I mistakenly picked Todd’s to take my most recent car to after an auto accident so that they may assess damages. I thought they were still the great company they were years ago, but I was proven wrong. Although they seemed helpful and pleasant on the phone, when I got there to retrieve my belongings, it was a whole other story. To make a long story short, I pulled up to the yard where they were keeping my vehicle (total loss) and it was unsecured and my car doors were unlocked. I even started cleaning out my car before letting the office know and no one even knew we were there! Unfortunately, I discovered my knife missing from my car so I went to let them know. This is when things went from ok to awful. A large, grumpy man chuckled to himself and said, «Well, we didn’t take it!» even though I specifically stated that I wasn’t accusing anyone, but simply noting for the record. Of course, they didn’t note it anywhere and just brushed it off like it wasn’t a big deal. Then, when I had to retrieve my studded tires off my wheels and put the regular tires on, a nice employee came out to help us get the wheels off so that we could take them to a tire shop to swap them out. Upon returning, I asked where I should put the wheels and Vern said, «Well you’re going to have to put them back on yourself. Why would I pay my employee to do it?» I mentioned that someone helped us take them off and wasn’t even sure how things worked in this situation, but he snarled, «Well, he wasn’t supposed to do that.» I was flabbergasted and disgusted. At the last minute, before leaving, I realized there was a cd still in my stereo and had to get the key to turn on the car to eject it. When I went to turn it over, there wasn’t any ‘juice’ so I assume they disconnected the battery. I was not able to get my cd and when I went in to ask how to do so, both Vern and the large, grumpy man walked right past me with the next customers as if I didn’t even exist. I tossed my key on the counter and bid my wonderful car goodbye. They made the horrible task of leaving my great car behind worse with their lack of customer service and empathy. I don’t know if they just didn’t get lunch or maybe they are always this cranky, but what I do know is that I will NEVER recommend Todd’s Auto Body to any friends or family ever again. Oh wait, I would recommend them to an enemy so that he/​she could get treated like crap like I was.
