Tranquility Ponds

One of the worst businesses I have ever dealt with! If I could give a negative rating I would. We bought a new house with a pond. Had to replace a quartz sleeve on a Laguna filter that was bought from them in June. Drive to one location. It was shut down. Tried calling second location. Multiple times. No answer. No call back. Tried calling THIRD location. Number forwarded to a Las Vegas business. Finally drove thirty minutes to second location only to find they don’t carry the product in stock and it would take three weeks to order! Yes, because ponds like to remain stagnant for a month. Then the ONLY employee in the store tells me the boss fired the secretary and she forwarded the phone number of the third store to the Vegas business and she messed with the credit card machine so they couldn’t use it for purchases. If you are smart you would avoid this business like the plague! And if you’ve done business here via a credit card I would check your statements. If his allegations of alleged misconduct are true who knows what that could mean for the security of the customers.

Nutshell: They sell sick fish, which will spread disease and kill all your existing fish.
Let me start by saying that as a new pond tender, I made some serious rookie mistakes, my first one was going into this shop.
I visited Tranquility Ponds, Vancouver WA store around July 2^nd 2015. I purchased two lovely shubunkin goldfish. It was a very hot day, and my plan was to drive straight home and put the fish in my pond. By the time i was ¾ the way home I noticed that one of the fish had DIED. I was really upset, and partly because of the price of these fish (two for $ 37.00) I called the store, and told them I was on my way back to deal with the dead fish.
I asked the young guy at the shop if this type of thing had ever happened before, he said «no this has never happened». He theorized that it may have been shock because of the heat, it sounded plausible to me so I asked to replace the dead fish. He did so, but not before expressing that it was not the store policy to do so and that he was «doing me a favor». Just so we are clear, I asked him where the fish were from and he said they came from a local breeder, I asked if they quarantined new fish, and he said that they did. All of the other fish they had, Koi, Shubunkin looked health and happy.
I rushed home, and put the two new shubunkin in my outdoor pond where there were currently 2 goldfish 6 — 8 years old and one young shubunkin. Everything seemed find but within about a week and a half one of the new shubunkins from Tranquility had died. Another week or so later my older goldfish was dead as well. Today 8÷04÷15 i lost my original remaining goldfish. I am now left with one of the shubunkin from Tranquility and my other young shubunkin from a reliable source.
I have spent the past 72 hours reading everything I can on the internet about pond fish and their diseases. My fish had NONE of the usual sicknesses that tend to effect goldfish/​koi/​shubunkin… The water tested normal for all the parameters associated with fish health. The bottom line is that Tranquility Pond sold me sick fish, they passed whatever they had onto my existing fish and now I am on a non-​stop fish death watch. This entire ordeal has been emotionally draining, watching my fish suffer, and slowly die has been horrible. We put the last goldfish down today in the freezer rather than allow him to suffer any longer. Had this store been responsible they would have offered me a full refund, and put their entire stock of fish remaining in the tank on anti-​biotics and quarantine. As a rookie pond tender I should have known better, I feel like a fool for letting this happen to my fish — BUT I TOLD THE GUY AT THE SHOP THAT I WAS NEW TO THIS, I assumed he knew SOMETHING about fish. Every reputable person who I have told this story to has said that the shop should have offered me a full refund and quarantined their fish. This is not what they did all to save a $ 37.00 dollar sale.
Bottom line — don’t spend a dime there. They don’t care about their customers or the health of the fish.

No customer service, period. I went to this business yesterday to purchase a pump, water plants & possibly fish for my new water feature. As I had been working in the yard, I was not «dressed up», so possibly my appearance (jeans & t shirt) were not enough to prompt someone to ask me if I needed help. In fact, two people came in after me & were helped first. I had been to this location several years ago & the service was excellent & the selection very good. At that time, they also had a few working displays of different types of pond installations. This visit, not so. Very few plants, only a small selection of certain fish & one non-​working pond (looked very rancid). Will definitely be spending my money at another source.
