I’ve been playing here since the early 90’s. There are 218 hole courses to choose from, Arrowhead and Tomahawk. Tomahawk is the more challenging course and newer course at the site, opened for play in 2002 and designed by Dan Maples( ). Arrowhead is mostly straight runs at the flag with some hazards and hills, but it’s still fun and challenging for most players. This has been the staple of the course since they opened in 1965. I’ve played several courses in the area and this is as good as it gets in Central Maine.

We played the Arrowhead course today(there is also the Tomahawk course there as well, and it’s probably better than Arrowhead). Arrowhead is completely boring. It seemed like every single hole was a straightaway par four, with huge, wide open fairways. No fairway bunkers, very few doglegs, very few water hazards. Extremely uninteresting course. As soon as we were done with the first hole, I wanted to leave. About the only nice thing about the place was that some of the water coolers had cold water in them, the cart got us the whole way around the course without dying, and the greens fees plus cart fees were $ 51 per person(which I guess isn’t too too bad). I would never want to play Arrowhead again, but perhaps I could be induced to try Tomahawk. Anyway, if you like interesting golf course design that forces you to make shots, avoid this course. Otherwise, if you’re just learning to play golf, I guess this course would be fine, since it’s so wide open and relatively easy.
