Great place to hang out with friends and enjoy high quality coffee. Staffs here are really funny and fast. The atmosphere is relaxing. Love to be back!

Went in for a light lunch, and was pleased with super friendly baristas and a great space. Free wifi!
Got some black tea, a cup of broccoli cheddar soup, and small Thai salad.
Tea was strong and tasty. Sorry I can’t comment on the black gold, but the specials looked awesome.
The soup was sub par. Nice texture and filled with brocc, but the veggies were stringy and tough, and the creamy broth was a bit lumpy.
The salad was great. Fresh greens, cukes, carrots. And the peanut sauce it was served with was delicious. A little bit thick on texture, but so so good. I opted not to have any egg on the salad, but usually it comes with a hard boiled egg, if that’s your thing.
Great friendly service, good tea, delicious salad. Can’t speak on the other soups, but avoid the brocc/​cheddar. 4.4 /​5.

We had simply the best coffee HERE during our trip to southwest FL AND NYC. Awsome place, awsome staff and awsome coffee. The bagels are yummy too.
Skip the chains and go there, you won’t be dissapointed.

Winter crack is really all you need. The friendly staff and amazing product makes it my favorite place for coffee. The Buckeyes make the perfect sweet treat and the tomato basil bisque is absolutely to die for. Black Gold is so much more than just coffee!

Love this place! What a gem. Every time we visit family in this area, we visit for breakfast and of course delicious lattes. The staff is always friendly, kind, and helpful. The espresso is just delicious. Presentation is beautiful. And with such great coffee, who would think they need to bother with good food… but they do! I always order the lox and bagel plate because the details count, including fresh dill and a lemon slice makes such a difference. My husband loves the croissant egg sandwich. His only complaint is that it’s not big enough because it’s so darn good. I also need to mention that they are so kind about giving me a cup of hot water to warm my infant daughter’s bottle. Very comfortable and relaxed environment. Looking forward to our next visit.

After reading the reviews, barbs and jousts on Unilocal I had to visit this place. I am not a coffee drinker however, enjoy local business vs the chains.
This place is cool and worth the trip. The ambiance is cool and the bags of coffee beans and the roasting area is cool.
I did not meet Gary however the staff was accommodating and pleasant. I did not get chased in the parking lot or followed via drone (that would have been cool)
Gary the smoothies are good and the orange truffles are awesome. I will make sure to route myself here next time I am in the area.
I gave 4 stars which is 5 in most people’s rating system

We read some reviews on this place and they were mixed. One was quite horrible but we can see that person was just being mean for whatever reason.
The place was not on the ‘island’ downtown area but we road our bikes there so it wasn’t too far. The place is very nice– super clean, good small menu & great service. The young lady that took our order was oh so friendly when suggesting restaurants for the evenings dinner choices. She also just became our local Chamber of Commerce. There was another worker there who made our beverages. I wasn’t certain if he was the owner but his drinks were perfect & he too gave us a little insight about the area and was just genuinely super kind.

Amazing spot. Not your average coffee shop. Great breakfast and lunch menu consisting of sandwiches, paninis, etc. And lots of unique coffee flavors! As a coffee fanatic it was hard to pick which to try. Iced coffee was great and hot latte was beautifully made. Tried the bacon egg and cheese on a bagel which was delicious and plated nicely, staff even brought the food and coffee to us (we chose to sit at one of the many little tables in and outside of the store). Staff was so friendly and nice. Went here while on vacation and really wishing we had this spot in our hometown!

Black Gold Coffee Roasters is that special place that you will enjoy to start your day off right! The coffee is hot and delicious and is only surpassed by the staffs attentiveness. By the way there are a number of wonderful cold drinks! Try my favorite cold coffee drink, the ‘BD’. There are plenty of wonderful selections for breakfast or lunch. Try the lox on an asiago bagel… delicious!

Best coffee in town by far. Staff is friendly, shop is clean & inviting. Their product personifies their name — GOLD, I love this stuff!!! I just wish they were open in the evenings, though this is Venice, FL … (lavish portions of still silence here –amidst the sea of old people and sharks teeth.)

We love this place!
We were in Venice for a weekend getaway and before leaving we decided to stop by and have breakfast. It was delicious.
We both had croissant sandwiches and each ordered iced coffees. You can taste the real ingredients in the food.
Had the pleasure of talking with Gary, the owner, and he an outstanding guy. It’s awesome when you get a chance to have a great conversation with the owner. Can’t do that at Starbucks.
We’ll definitely come back to Black Gold Coffee Roasters when we return to Venice.

Gary’s BLT was done to perfection as described in the menu. The bacon was delicious and the tomatoes were juicy served on toasted Ciabatta, YUM!
Topped lunch with iced coffee skillfully roasted on sight. I’ll be a regular.

The beans are roasted on site using a very robust and beautiful Santa Fe roaster. The owner/​roaster usually gets his hands on an array of high-​end beans that you won’t be able to find at many other places (if any). They might be «a bit dark in color» for my personal liking, but I have never bought a bad tasting bean here to date… Hence the name, «Black Gold», I guess.
The bean bags here come in transparent bags and are «true pounds», (16 ozs, not the usual 12 oz. bags) that many other places sell at the same price, so thumbs up here too… Let the candy bars get smaller from decade to decade, but please, leave the coffee beans alone!
«Coffee shop food» is getting better and better all across the country, no exceptions here!
My only complaints are it’s small size (especially outside), and the limited hours.
The Cure… Take over the nearby Publix supermarket and make the open hours from 4am to 2am… That should allow just enough time to do the floors.

Good for you that you have a location enabling your business to succeed. Clearly you need not worry about honest, less than flattering, feedback from the likes of myself. From your response to the review I can see that you have what it takes to survive in the current day coffee roaster market here in Venice. Good luck to you.

My partner and I visited for lunch and I had the turkey and gruyère panini along with a honey bee latte. The latte was a little sweet, but I believe that’s personal preference and definitely not a fault of the barista.
We also purchased the pearl jasmine tea (delicious!) and a soup/​salad combo with butternut squash soup. I heard praises from the other side of the table during the whole meal.
I was most impressed with the friendliness of the staff… We had multiple people check on us to ensure we were enjoying our meal and drinks.
The atmosphere, the fare, and the free wifi are all positive points. I’ll be back!

I am from Germany and have spent the past few years in Berlin, a big city with amazing coffee places and breakfast venues. Coming to Florida I expected the usual chains and gas station coffee and was surprised to hear about black gold. I fell in love immediately. The coffee is delicious, their food tasty, the staff is always friendly and helpful. It does get crowded in there, but i don’t see how that can be reason for a bad experience. To me it shows people are loyal to black gold because they appreciate the service and product. Another nice feature is that the coffee roasters are in the same place, so it smells great. Oh, and the owner is a knowledgable and friendly guy. All in all, I wish I could take this place with me wherever I go.
