La Cabana has been around forever and it is just okay. The best thing about it is they make their own tortillas and they are really great. Other than that the food is only fair. The service is good and they offer good portions. The place is old and has not been kept up, but parking is easy and the prices are reasonable. They have a full bar and a great selection of tequila. If hungry and in town, it is fine, but don’t go out of your way to go there, unless you really love home made tortillas.

Always the best margaritas. Always the best times. For food go across the street to Casablanca but la cabana is an institution!

How the heck did I forget to write about this place!!! Whenever I came to Venice to visit my ex(RIP) We would come here for the late night eats and drinks. I couldn’t deny a place that was open til 3am and had some pretty good passable mexi dishes. Speed up a few years later and I thought I come in since my friend got off work late and Kan pai was packed so I said let’s drive up Lincoln to La cabana. Parked up front and walked in and the vibe was OFF! What happened??? It was quiet and kinda depressing with a few tables of people but all scattered so no fun boozed up people. Whatever, I was hungry and that’s the most important thing, MYHUNGER: p So we started with margaritas and a cup of albondigias. My borracho margarita barely got me buzzed, it’s like I needed a tequila shot grrrrr. The soup was ok, tasted bettered when I crunched up the tortilla chips inside it. For our entrees I ordered the chorizo potato quesadilla combo, came with green rice and pinto beans which I hate and made me jealous because my friends meal came with refried beans so I ate off their plate more LOL. I forgot what they ordered besides that. My quesadilla was packed with more potato than chorizo :(It was basically a cheese potato quesadilla and I mainly ordered this for the chorizo! It had no salty goodness :/The rice was good and paired well with the refried beans my friend had lol I didn’t touch those pinto beans. My friend ate all their food so I guess no complaints on that side. This meal was a wham bam meal and this place has lost it’s essence it used to have years ago. Oh well the area has so much to offer in food so no love lost. If it’s 1:30am and I can’t find a taco truck and I’m in the area, I’ll come back but not anytime soon :\

After years of visiting this place I think it’s time we go our separate ways. The food is very pricey for what you get and sparse on vegetarian options. Something like a happy hour menu would benefit this place for sure!

I died and came back after eating La cabaña’s AMAZING chilaquiles! The BEST chilaquiles in all of LA. Not spicy, hand made tortillas, bomb guacamole, crème, cheese, an egg on top… YUMMM! Food quality/presentaion and service is nothing but rich quality, and the best! Did I mention, the tortilla’s and chips are made right by the bar next to their gorgeous stone oven?!! Amazing!!! I would recommend this amazing place 100%!!!

Five stars if your looking for a classic, no frills Mexican joint with the same waiters who have probably been there since 1985. Love this place! The food is consistent, the atmosphere is kitschy but classic… oh, and did I mention the hours? They are open till like 3 or 4am… you can always go in here at any time and feel at home :) It’s not too brightly lit and there’s lots of big round booths as well as smaller tables… so if you want a little privacy or feel tucked away in your own area that’s totally doable here. I really like the chicken fajitas here! The margaritas are classic and strong too. If your looking for something new and creative, not your place. If you want classic Mexican, immediate and great tortilla chips and salsa, strong drinks, Mexican-y atmosphere… come here!

This Mexican gem in Venice is one to hit up. They are open late which is nice if searching for a late night dinner spot. All the food is great. Homemade tortillas are so good. The tostada is the bomb. I have trouble going here and not ordering it because I love it so much. Their selection of quesadillas is impressive. The service is always great. The wait staff is very attentive. Your drinks and your chip basket will never be empty at this place.

Still some of the best Tex Mex I’ve had in LA. Generous portions. Fresh ingredients. We got delivery: Carne Asada was delicious, tender, succulent. It’s food of the gods, wrapped in a La Cabana flour tortilla. Absolutely the best Chile Relleno on the westside. Chili Verde was good, though the pork was on the dry side. Killer tortilla wrap solved that. Rice & Beans are flavorful without being greasy. Chips were fresh & crisp, salsa tasty. Total $ 51 with tip & delivery charges. I don’t know what some of you go in expecting. Perhaps you were there on an off day(something that hasn’t happened to me at La Cabana in 18 years)? Maybe you’re not used to the price of food at the beach? La Cabana offers great value for the westside, and consistent, fresh deliciousness.

Whack Mexican food and extremely overpriced. The only upside to this is that they’re open late. Other than that it’s a waste of money. Food is terrible

$ 38 bucks for a pitcher of margarita’s is a lot for a place that serves cheap mediocre Mexican food especially since it’s hard to tell if they actually put tequila in. The waiters seem to enjoy being especially unhelpful. If you know what to order you can come away OK, like their homemade tortillas are excellent. If you don’t it’s less hit than miss.

Tortilla chips were amazing. Brought from a lady making them on the spot by the kitchen. Guacamole is made in front of table. I ordered the chicken fajitas. Most restaurants give maybe two or three corn tortillas with the meal, but they gave me four just to start. The fajitas weren’t super oily so it felt like a guilt free meal. I do wish the chicken was a chicken breast but it tasted like a chicken leg or thigh. But — we all know taste tastier. Ha! I definitely recommend if craving Mexican food. Enjoy!

So good, especially the guacamole, which they make right in front of you. Super fresh, super yum. And the chips are HUGE. Food is reasonably priced and service is great, so I really have zero complaints about this place. Looking forward to coming back.

This place rocked! I was a little hesitant due to the middling reviews and the seemingly«dive bar» quality of this place, but I’m so glad I checked it out anyway! It was fantastic! The décor was adorable with multicolored lights, intimate booths, and a fireplace. Service was fast and attentive. The free chips and salsa were SO good. Normally, I can control myself and casually munch on one or two chips before the meal arrives. Not this time. I ate the entire bowl and had absolutely no shame in asking for a refill. The margaritas were tasty, yet strong, and the crab quesadilla was suuuper delicious. I will definitely be back.

La Cabana has that old school Mexican restaurant vibe. Complete with low lighting and red leather seating. The chips and tortillas are homemade in their wood fired stove and the cheese enchiladas are the best this side of Mexico. The margaritas won’t disappoint either. Lots of flavors to choose from and half the price of a fancy bar($ 8-$ 9.) This place is ideal for killer Mexican food, fast, friendly service and intimate candle lit nights. Doesn’t hurt that it’s open til 3am nightly. You can get your Mex on all night long!

This place has never failed me! Its a great local joint with friendly staff and a large space so you never have to wait. Their food is pretty standard Mexican fare, but its all good and hits the spot when you’re in the mood for it. In particular, their homemade corn tortillas are AMAZING. They are open until 3AM so its also one of the few good places in the Venice/SM area that is good and open when you are in need of a late night snack. Food service is quick and they have a full bar as well!

It has been a super long time since I have eaten at La Cabana so we decided it was about time. I always remembered their homemade corn tortillas. There guacamole did not disappoint as they make it right at the table. It was really large and very good! For a main entrée we had the Carnitas. Very good flavor and plenty of it. It’s great that this place has lasted for so long and it still put out very good Mexican grub.

I’ve been eating here for 25 years, but you know what… The food isn’t that good. I come here for late night dining, like when I’m coming home from the airport at midnight, and nobody else is open. The only thing that’s really good are the nachos — IF you ask for them with steak(not on the menu). The rest of the food is just… ok. Not bad, just not something I think you’d ever say«let’s go to La Cabaña, I’m in the mood for…» Everything else is just basic Mexican fare, it all kinda tastes the same, like they didn’t clean the grill between meals. So if it’s not the middle of the night, and you aren’t looking for a place to chill in a booth… Just pick up a burrito from a food truck.

I’ve been coming to this place for years and it continues to keep up its standards. The service is great, the table-side guacamole is fresh and delicious, and the carne asada steak is one of my favorite things to eat in LA. Tip: Do you park in the Whole Foods lot across they street — they tow!
