Lucky Stop No. 2 Liquor

Just because other liquor stores around the world are technically worse doesn’t excuse these guys’ rude behavior to customers. We’re giving you money. Act like you appreciate the business.

Wow people here are so used to super smiley American style service that the one place on Abbot Kinney where they are not particularly trying hard to be friendly gets 2 stars or less from Unilocalers. Yes the guys in there are a bit surly. Yes the prices are high. This is what liquor stores are like the world over. In fact, a trip to any other country in the world will reveal liquor stores or convenience stores that suck a lot more than this. I go here because it’s close and I need basics. I smile and say hello to the guys who work there and after a few visits they smile and welcome me when I walk in.

This place is the worst. I went in this morning and purchased a pack of cigarettes and some snacks. I left and realized i forgot to pick up the cigarettes off the counter. Went back in and asked the gentlemen behind the counter if i had left them there– knowing i had. He started yelling at me, telling me i was a liar and getting aggressive with me. I tried to reason with him but that was impossible. This guy is a shitty-​shitty-​shitty business owner. If he doesnt realize your community is what keeps you up– he soon will. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS– they are not worthy of your time or money. These guys are a complete fucking joke. I also want to note– I have never felt the need to sign up for Unilocal before– after this mornings experience I came straight home JUST to write this review. Literally that’s how shitty this place is.

The main guy that works there is the worst… bad attitude in general. Everything is marked up beyond belief.

Take your business elsewhere! Avoid this store like a plague. I don’t go out of my way to write bad reviews but every interaction I have ever had at this place has been awful. The gentlemen behind the counter go out of their way to be rude, unhelpful, and berate the customers. Prices and selection are terrible. Please boycott this business. Although I am only a block away I will go several miles to purchase things elsewhere.

Management is extremely unfriendly. Overpriced. Terrible service. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Don’t go here. There are plenty of better liquor stores nearby with nicer staff members and fairly priced products.
In all fairness, the store itself is fine. However, I have never had a pleasant experience with the cashier. All of the other Unilocal posts about him are accurate. For example, last night I went in to buy some snacks. There was a loud ringing that I was curious about. So I asked about it, at which point I was condescendingly asked if I thought a bomb was going to go off? He continued to freak out while aggressively swiping items from my basket and said «better get the fuck out before it goes off!» So I did. Immediately. Steer clear of this place unless you are cool with being insulted for no reason.
Will not be going back.

I came to get a bottle of a nice scotch, it was $ 98 but crossed, $ 85 «on sale».
Well, it’s more like $ 65 everywhere else. He charged me $ 98 and to make it even
better, he charged me TWICE! No kidding. Hoping I wouldn’t notice.
Investigating with my credit card company now, but seriously thinking about
reporting him to the police.

I would give it zero stars if I could. this guy has been an assh0le for half a decade at least. I’m gonna have a party when this place finally closes. overpriced and rude. once he kept my $ 14 change claiming i gave him a 5 not a 20. and I had to demand it back while he stood there ignoring me. he had a big dude in the back of the shop that triedo bully me. instead I got my phone and started calling the police!
yesterday I go in there (I try to avoid it) for a kombucha. it was very expired and I had to fight for my money back again. he says it’s the consumer’s responsibility to check the date! I said it’s unpasteurized and you can kill people. someone needs to shut this place down. I don’t know who they pay off at the city, but there’s no way they should pass any inspections.

Stopped by here 20 minutes before closing just to buy one thing and they had already locked the door. The dude at the register totally ignored me even though I knocked. D-​I-​C-​K. Efff this place. They give the friendly vibe of Venice a bad name. Wish I could give negative stars!

Absolutely terrible service, and overpriced.
The only place I know in the are with a decent beer selection though. They have some Alagash and White Rascal.
I only come here when Im staying in the area. The Ralphs down the street has a much better selection at much better prices.

Come here only if you want to be insulted. My most recent experience:
The clerk (who I believe is the owner) tells me there’s a $ 5 credit card minimum on my purchase of $ 4.35. Thinking I didn’t have cash on me, I said «Well that’s a bummer» and walk out the front door. I notice he roughly grabbed my item and threw it to the side. Upon walking out, I realized I had $ 10 cash so I walk back to the counter. He said to me, «Well what a surprise» very condescendingly. I responded, «There’s no reason to be rude; I didn’t realize I had any cash on me,» to which he retorts, «Well just a minute ago, you said you didn’t have any cash and now you do. Who would have thought??» «I thought you weren’t allowed to have a minimum on credit card transactions,» I responded. «You can have a minimum of $ 10. You think I don’t know that??» The conversation only went downhill from here until he was nearly yelling at me as I walked out of the store.
This store has a decent selection and is conveniently located, but from now on, I’ll go out of my way to avoid this place. Even if you’re having a bad day, there’s no reason to treat a customer the way he treated me. I’ve honestly never been talked to that way in my entire life.

Updating my review to go with the new store.
They shut down and gutted this place a while back, updating it to modern times. In the process, lots of the prices went up, but then I’m sure the rent did too. It’s a reasonable trade-​off because they now carry some specialty items that they never did before.
And…they keep Dom on hand now. Enough said.
The guys running the store are really nice. Thing is: you have to be nice to them.

I lost my mind when this place was renovating. Super convinient store for people in the neighborhood. Remember y’all need it on First Friday to pre game so no compliants on the store being $$$, better than the bars anyways.

The most disgustingly ill mannered person I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with! DO NOT GO HERE!
