We were looking for some fresh seafood in the area. Found this place on Unilocal and decided to give it a try. Place is rustic, which under the right circumstances could enhance the experience. We didn’t experience those circumstances. I had the fried seafood platter with baked potato and veggies. It came with a huge piece of white fish(ideal for a big sandwich), two medium sized shrimp and two oysters. That’s it. For $ 17.50. Veggies were EXCELLENT. Everything else was unremarkable. Ordered a long island ice tea, which tasted like tequila with a splash of coke, was very strong. Then ordered the drink on special, Myakka Rum Punch. It tasted what Hawaiian Tropic suntan lotion would taste like in liquid form. Very sweet, a lot of coconut. Left feeling like I ate two fish sandwiches from a fast food place. The service was great, allowing me to give it two stars instead of one. Don’t think we’ll be back to explore other dishes that may be great. There are some nice places in Sarasota for the same money that give much higher quality and quantity of food than here.

As always another excellent meal at Myakka! Their clam chowder is awesome and I had one of my fans the fillet of fish with blue cheese sauce. It is absolutely delectable. The hush puppies are crunchy and wonderful dipped in a little cocktail sauce. If you go – go early or expect a wait as the snow birds are filling the place up!

Local yummy food. Not fancy but delicious. Our table of four had baby back ribs which were tender, baked horseradish crusted grouper… yum!, chicken strips for picky eater and he ate it all and a crab cake dinner which included two patties. All dinners came with a choice of two sides. Nothing was greasy and everything was cooked to perfection. Waiter, Brandon, did a incredible service. We also caught 50 cent beer specials which happened on a Wednesday. They do have daily specials like the crab cake dinner for $ 8.99. Our total bill plus 20% tip was $ 70.(We drank water and 4 beers at 50 cents each) Will definitely come back when I’m in the area

Very campy and a delightful view. I guess you have to be a local or be with one to find this place. Our service was quick and very friendly. The expertise of the kitchen though, is much to be desired. Our Cesar salad was dipped in dressing. Our server brought us another plate of greens and the dressing on the side to fix the situation. Remarkably, the dressing was good and tasted homemade but was over thick and better used for mortar. The gumbo was fair, it appeared to be canned or frozen with kitchen ingredients added to it. The only missing item was water as it was incredibly salty. I think for both punishment and for way of improving the food, the kitchen staff needs to taste the dishes they are sending to table.
