Food was okay. It was just okay, nothing spectacular. Not 2 stars bad though. The reason for the low rating is how long it took to get this mediocre food out to us. It was our last day in Cali and we had a flight coming up. We were walking down Venice beach and saw this place thinking it will be a quick meal and we can be on our way. How wrong we were. It took exactly 44 minutes to get our food out(no exaggeration at all, if anything Im being generous here), food that consisted of raw ingredients literally dumped on top of each other. How hard can this be? And they weren’t awfully busy at all. I say find better options. There is a café just up the street.

What can be better than fresh poke on the beach? I got the small and it was the right size for me although it seemed like most people were getting the larger side. You can choose between brown or white rice or no rice at all. I loved the mac nuts in mine, it added the perfect crunch to it. The price is super reasonable and the poke was delicious. There was a line and you can expect to wait but it’s totally worth it!

I eat lots of sushi and lots of poke and this place was truly fantastic. Aside from being super cheap for what you get(I got the Hawaiian style, which to my surprise was not only all fish but an entire bowl of fish !), the food is incredibly fresh and high quality. Of course, it’s easy to taste bad sushi, but this place was great. I got the ahi tuna«aloha style,» which had a little kick to it. Amazing. I almost went back for another gigantic $ 14 bowl of poke, but we had dinner reservations within the hour so I abstained. Highly, highly recommend.

Literally a hole in the wall. We randomly stumbled upon this place as we were exploring the Venice beach area. Not sure how we found it, as there is just a tiny window for you to order/retrieve your food. Perfect on-the-go snack while you enjoy Venice beach. Ordered a small, I believe, and still got a decent amount of fish. Fish was quite fresh and not over-seasoned. I’m not a huge raw onion type of girl, so they could’ve done a little less with it or I should have asked for it without them. Otherwise no complaints. Pricing was reasonable too.

The Pros– Well there seemed to be a lot of fish in there although it didnt originally look like it. The fish tastes fresh(I got the spicy tuna with a bunch of stuff in it). The regular onion thrown in there was a nice touch. The customer service was awesome. The Cons-Long wait so I suggest you order ahead if you can. Rice was kind of hard but edible. They ran out of seaweed and I love seaweed. Overall I would most likely visit this place again. Worth the 11 dollars for sure.

A-OK. I’ve had better Poke’s for sure. We had three different ones. Original, Wasabi, and Spicy. I didn’t like any of it. The Spicy Poke just felt like there was too much sauce and it was too overpowering. Original was too bland. Wasabi was okay… I have no comment. The girl who works there was a bit rude, she was yelling and had an attitude. I was a bit confused. I’ve had better.

Stopped by for some good poke and it sure did not disappoint! Ordered the large size of the original poke. Coming from hawaii and having high expectation, i was surprised that it met them! It was delicious and wish I ordered more! Their acai bowl looked good too but we already had some at another place just before:(

Fantastic spot. Being from out of town I had heard of this place and wanted to try it — first impressions weren’t much. Crowded beach and it smelled funky up and down the boardwalk. I missed the place initially following google maps(you order from a window on the side of an otherwise uninteresting building). They have two main options(with rice/less fish is the cheaper) and then a more costly all fish. The rice didn’t do much except fill me up so I’d recommend going all fish. I normally don’t like spicy either but the chili oil was recommended by the guy taking my order(very witty and conversational) and I loved it. My girlfriend and I both added the masago and seaweed as well. It’s the type of place I could come back to anytime and like just about everything off the menu.

HYPEHYPEHYPE! That’s what comes to mind whenever I hear the word poke nowadays. Despite my previous experiences with poke bowls, I gave in as my friend suggested we grab poke for lunch. This small hole in the wall shack would be kind of hard to miss if it wasn’t for the long line of people waiting in front of it.(Note: I came here on a Wednesday afternoon and it was still packed full of people). But don’t let that previous statement deter you from coming here. The line moves extremely fast and my bowl was ready in 2 minutes after ordering. After taking my first bite of their Aloha(marinade) bowl with rice, I felt like I could die. The ahi tuna tasted so fresh and their Aloha marinade just transformed it. I personally would go with their large size Hawaiian style(just pure poke w/out rice) next time because it was that amazing. When you’re standing in line, don’t even hesitate when thinking whether to get the large of small size. I can promise you that it will not disappoint.

Fresh poke by the beach. What more can you ask for? That’s LA living for ya The poke bowl was big and had a lot of sashimi in it. Definitely worth it’s price. It’s also an added bonus that I can sit on the beach, people watch, and tan while eating :)

Spicy tuna is the most popular bowl, but I went with the wasabi one — no regrets! I didn’t really try other poke places in LA so I cannot compare, but this little window spot by the beach is on point. They only offer ahi tuna — it could be a problem for people who want more variety of fish, but hey it tastes amazing regardless. I went on a weekday around noon, and there was no line, of course.

An awesome find at Venice Beach! We have been craving great Poke ever since our trip to Hawaii in 2013, and so to find this place during our trip in LA, got us so excited. Hidden in a little side street off the Venice Boardwalk, you will notice the sign on a blue surfboard right next to Malaka Brothers. Once we found it, we ordered 1x Original Ahi(hawaiian style), and 1x Spicy Ahi(my boyfriend likes it hot). We really liked the strong flavour of the marinade, on both the original and spicy, and the fresh taste of the tuna. You can order free additional toppings but we found it great as is. It was meant to be just a snack but ended up filling us up till dinner. So good!

Quantity and quality(bonus 10% off with Unilocal checkin!) Delicious poke bowls here, all ahi tuna — and well mixed(in case you want other raw fishes, they don’t have any). The large Hawaiian style has no sushi rice and only costs a couple bucks more, but if you do want sushi rice, they have brown and white :) There is honestly so much in the large(which is only $ 2 – 3 more), that it’s probably too much pure protein for one person haha, so definitely save some of it for later! A huge plus is that it is right next to the beach, so it’s pleasant to eat right on the beach!

I am a huge fan of the vibes here. This place is some random stall in a building on Venice Beach. Enjoying the freshest of fish next to the beach is something to experience. I ordered the original, Hawaiian style, with carrots, seaweed, and avocado. My boyfriend ordered the Wasabi with rice. Like I mentioned, the tuna was incredibly fresh and they gave SOMANY huge chunks of it. GREATNEWS. However, our poke bowls were both very salty(my boyfriend’s was even more so!). I think they put way too much soy sauce on the both of them. Whenever I am in the area, I’ll definitely be back, but might even ask for no soy sauce… but then would that just be deconstructed sushi? HMM.

This was my first poke experience and I’m definitely glad it was! Spicy Ahi Tuna: 5⁄5 — You can add unlimited toppings, hell yes, and you can add avocado for $ 1 extra which is definitely worth it! Acai bowl: 4.5÷5 — sweet and delicious! perfect amount of fruit and granola. The fish is so fresh mmmm, and they make the perfect poke! It’s only $ 11-$ 13 bucks which I think is cheap for poke especially when it’s this good! The wait can definitely be long, but it’s worth it.

Hard to find on Venice and it’s literally a window you order from. They have outside benches to sit on. Soo much options when it comes to your Poké bowl, make sure you read the list of add ons to choose from. This place gets packed and you don’t wanna take up too much time at the front. I ordered their acai bowl with no blueberries or peanut butter. It comes with honey, granola and acai sorbet. ITWASAMAZING! The best I’ve had yet! My husband got the Poké bowl without rice and he added seaweed and masago. It was really good! And presentation was on point! I recommend this place and would come back everytime I come to Venice.

I came here with my boyfriend, Sherwin, on a Tuesday afternoon starving. There was no line, and the food came out fast. We ordered what was recommended to us, the Ahi Tuna Poke that came with a side of either white or brown rice. As for the freshness of the fish, I would say 3.5÷5, not the freshest poke I have had. The sauce they had used made us think that we were eating at a Chinese joint. The taste was similar to soy sauce with some sesame seeds. It wasn’t bad, but it was a little too salty for our taste, so we had to order an extra side of brown rice($ 2, poke bowl comes w/a SMALL portion of rice), and some avocados($ 1); which made it a lot yummier.

I waited in line for 30 minutes but it was worth it. Service was great and their poke is amazing! The portions may look small, but a big spicy poke with brown rice was enough to fill me up. The only disappointing thing is that they ran out of white rice, so we settled for brown rice. Although I would have preferred white rice, I have to say I didn’t notice the difference and could not care less about what type of rice I was having because the poke was that good. The spicy poke is tolerable for the first few minutes, but it builds after a while. Coming from a person who loves spicy food, I have to say I was surprised because I didn’t anticipate how strong it would be. Overall, I think this is a great place to get poke and I would definitely come back.

Not worth the wait… Waited 40 minutes in line, only to find out that THEY’REOUTOFRICE! Ugh, if Poke-poke knew how popular they were, shouldn’t they prepare ingredients?! The cashier was totally unprofessional and thought he was all that and cool… and why couldn’t they cook more rice? Right behind him was a huge bin of uncooked rice. Sigh… and why couldn’t they have announced it to the whole line when they ran out of rice? They also ran out of other ingredients like seaweed and acai for the acai bowls… So, I ended up with super salty raw fish. The texture was rubbery and I didn’t finish it. We also shared a wasabi flavored one with WAY too much wasabi. Grrr… I want my money and time back. Not worth the hype. Side note: if they ever run out of rice, you can go next door to the greek place to order a side of rice, I guess…

Was craving poke and had plans to visit Venice Beach, so this came up during my Unilocal search. I ordered the big Aloha w/rice, while my boyfriend ordered the big Wasabi w/rice. They were both flavorful and nicely filling for the $ 11 price tag. Parking is difficult since it is located in this touristy location. You might as well pay the $ 9 flat rate to park in the lot. Even then, it may take awhile to grab a spot! I would have given 5 stars had the wait been faster. The line to order was fast enough. However, we waited around 30 minutes for our order. Ridiculous! If I come back, I’ll be sure to order ahead online, and that will hopefully greatly minimize the wait time.

My friends and I were wandering Venice Beach when I saw the word Poke. My heart leapt. Could there be poke in this dingy corner of Venice Beach? There could and there was! It’s somewhat of a shack with no indoor seating but who needs indoor seating when you’re at a beach in LA? Plenty of picnic tables and you can always take your food over to the sand and just each while staring at the ocean, contemplating life. If you think that showers give you life epiphanies, you need to eat while staring at the ocean. That’s where the true life revelations come from, like what job to take or who to swipe right on Tinder on. Poke-Poke had a pretty good selection of poke and we went with the classic and the wasabi. Both were absolutely delicious and helped sate the appetite of 9 hungry adults. Definitely worth a stop if you’re in the area!

Missed this place once? It’s ok. Missed this place twice?! Shame on you!(ok, it is a bit suspicious, the window in the wall type of place — but MUST. GIVE. A. TRY) Plastic container stuffed with tasty goodness — make it spicy, salty, mild, sweet, crunchy — whatever you like. I counted about two dozen of various toppings and fillers. Perfectly fresh cut tuna that would blow your weekly budget anywhere on the east coast for less than $ 12. What a delight! Now, grab yours, go to the beach and enjoy watching those surfers.

Yummmmm! I first tried this place after a 5k run in Santa Monica from a food truck they had setup for the event. The line was so long– for a good reason-these ahi tuna poke bowls are to die for! I have been craving another one ever since. I finally took my boyfriend here(his first time) he was so in love. It is tucked away in the side of a building right on the Venice boardwalk. They have table and chairs setup for you to sit and enjoy your treat on the spot. Staff was super chill, nice, laid-back, and super friendly. Just what you expect for a beach vibe. We ordered our poke– I ordered the Large Aloha with added avocado– and my boyfriend ordered the Large Original(both large with rice) mine white rice, my boyfriend’s brown rice.(Small sizes also available) Each was $ 11+$ 1 for the added avocado– but so worth it. They give you big chunks and it was so fresh! It honestly made the dish! We also had a guava juice drink– which was amazing. Overall: great value for the ahi tuna, good atmosphere– I mean, you cannot beat the ocean view! And really friendly staff– will definitely keep coming back.

Had an 8 hour layover at LAX on my way to Australia– Venice beach is close by! Used my handy dandy Unilocal app to find me a good spot and DUNDUN! Poke-Poke! This is a walk up and order type of spot– I ordered the spicy tuna atop white rice with avocado(costs $ 1 but worth it) and ginger. All orders come with white and green onions. The bowl was delicious– tuna was fresh and the flavors were awesome! I highly recommend visiting Poke-Poke if you are ever in Venice Beach.

It’s quite literally a hole in the wall. You walk up to a small window to order, pay, and pick up the food. It’s right off the boardwalk, meaning its storefront doesn’t actually face the boardwalk. If you’re looking for it for the first time, don’t walk too quickly because you’ll miss it. I only happened to stumble upon it by chance(fate?), and I’m so glad I did. Prices are low, portions are good, quality of the food is BOMB. The only downside is that there aren’t many areas to sit and enjoy your delicious food. I know that their intent is for people to leave the area and either eat on-the-go or on the beach, but a bench or two would’ve made the experience that much better. They have the space out front, so they should use it. All in all, a great little joint. It’s such a refreshing change from all the taco and hot dog joints along the boardwalk. This was my first taste of poke, and I’m definitely hooked. And I just love saying poke. Poke poke poke.

If you’re a fan of poké places that AREN’T Chipotle-bar-style, then you should try this place out. They have a pretty short and simple menu of flavors to choose from. NOTE: all flavors use AHITUNA(there are also vegetarian salad, beef, and shrimp poké options). None of the«give me a scoop of this this and this» stuff here! Flavors: + Original: tuna with shoyu and sesame oil + Spicy: same as above + spicy mayo + Wasabi: original + wasabi and black sesame seeds + Aloha: «aloha shoyu», sesame oil, vinegar, sea salt, crushed pepper (all come with white & green onions and sesame seeds) Sizes: + lil poké(8oz) with rice: $ 7 + lil poké Hawaiian style(i.e. no rice): $ 9 + big poké(16 oz) with rice: $ 11 + big poké Hawaiian style: $ 14 Customizations: + white/brown/no rice + add: kale, seaweed salad, ginger, masago(fish roe), carrots, macadamia nuts, avocado(extra $), and more! We got a bowl of original poké and aloha poké — both with brown rice, seaweed, masago, and kale. The chunks of tuna were pretty big and tasted fresh. My big poké with rice was about half fish, half rice — a good ratio. The original was very light with a faint soy sauce flavor, while the aloha was a little saltier from the sea salt. Although the aloha had red pepper, it wasn’t really spicy. So if you want spicy, add the chili oil or sriracha. Overall, the fish was fresh and the portions were good, but I wish there was the original was marinated a little longer(the flavor was somewhat muted).

Good poke place by the beach! It can be hard to find if you’ve never been here before. My friend and I actually walked passed it the first time. They have two sizes which are Lil(8oz) and Big(12oz). You can get it Hawaiian Style(no rice) for $ 2 more. There were four flavors, Original, Spicy Tuna, Wasabi, and Aloha. You can add as many of the add-ons for no charge! Except avocado($ 1). I had the Spicy Tuna with macadamia nuts and seaweed Hawaiian style. I thought that it was a good amount of spicy! It was actually spicy, not medium spicy. The macadamia nuts gave it a good crunch. My friend had the Aloha with chopped jalepenos and sriracha. He really liked it! I thought that the price was pretty reasonable for something that you can get at the beach! I would came back if I was at Venice Beach and hungry.

Poke Poke is right on the Venice Boardwalk. Small walk up window where you place your order. Ordered the original with rice and the spicy tuna with rice. Both the small size. They were $ 7 each. Completely enough food for one person. Both were delicious but preferred the spicy tuna. Everything was very fresh. The only downside was the seating. Only a few tables but plenty of places to walk to to find somewhere to sit.

One of the better spots for poke — mainly due to consistency, availability, and expediency. All poke bowls are made to order, which is a great selling point. The one downside to this location is simply that, the location — as parking is a nightmare on venice beach. Asides from that, the shoyu poke will not disappoint! Get it hawaiian style. The rice from what I’ve heard from people who have dined with me is hit or miss, and is mainly a miss.

Prime location! Right on the walk. It’s a sunny 80 degree day in Venice during the winter. The sun is beaming on my face and I take my first bite of the Aloha bowl. It was fresh. Varying flavors with the shoyu, rice wine vinegar, and crushed red pepper. I also asked them to add spicy mayo and seaweed. That was delicious! I only got a small one because I ordered a huge Acai bowl. It was sweet refreshing it was perfect for the day. Yes it is expensive however the products are fresh and poke and Acai are just generally expensive. Parking: I parked in the lot on north Venice and pacific for 6 bucks. You can preorder online as there was a huge line after I ordered mine. Only downside was that you do eat outside so lots of flies. Don’t forget to check in to get 10% off!

It was so tasty and made even better with so many different toppings like pickled ginger, watermelon, avocado, masago, kale and so much more. Its a build your own lunch bowl to your hearts desirers. Great flavor and texture combination with cold and warm ingredients it made was an excellent lunch on the beach under the sun. Coming to the West coast from the east coast, I knew I had to try poke! I got the big poke hawaiian style in the flavor spicy. I added kale, masago, seaweed and avocado(+1). It ended up being around $ 17 which is pretty expensive for a little bowl but it was good! The flavor was great and the fish tasted fresh. The hawaiian style is just the fish, no rice. I thought this option was smarter as I am getting more fish but after eating a few bites, I wish I had rice to compliment the fish. After a few bites, the flavor starts to feel a little heavy and you’ll want rice to tone it down. Though the flavor and fish was good, I ended up only eating half of it because the flavor was just too much after a while. Definitelyyyy get the rice next time! The service was a little slow but there are benches so you can sit and wait. Make sure to check into Unilocal to get a 10% discount!
