I found this place when researching fun things to do in LA, and am so happy I made an appointment to visit! I came here on a Saturday afternoon with my sister and cousin, and was greeted warmly by one of the owners, Gonsalvo. He and his wife, Cheri, have been transforming this house for the past 20 years into a living, breathing piece of art. He gave us a tour of the house, showing us some really cool pieces and explaining the story behind different pieces of art. It was truly fascinating to be able to take a glimpse into the minds of two talented and passionate artists and see the madness and beauty of it all. I want to post all my pictures in this review but I won’t because it’s truly something one must see in person. And yes, it is most certainly worth the $ 12.

I did some research about things to do and places to see around LA, and this place popped up on social media. My two girlfriends and I decided to stop by here while we were hanging out in Venice, the gate was locked and one of the owners told us to book an appointment for a tour. I emailed them later that night hoping I can get a tour before I went back to Seattle, we were able to get a tour on a Monday in the afternoon. Upon arrival, we rung the doorbell and Gonzalo greeted us and took us inside(his wife wasn’t home at the time) We started the tour in their bathroom, that’s how their house came to be with the Mosaic tiles artwork. He told us the story of how they met(love at first sight) and explained how his wife started this whole thing as just a bathroom project. There is A LOT more to the story, but that is theirs to tell you when you take the tour. Beautiful beautiful home, I was in awe. Their front yard, back yard, inside of the house, the walls.. . Just everything was so different but similar at the same time. They’ve been doing this for quite some time and are STILL adding more mosaic tiles to their home. I can’t wait to come back and visit in the future to see what else has been done. The tour costs $ 12 a per person, try to bring cash because they will charge a small tax fee if you use your debit. Gonzalo showed us some of their other art work as well, and I was just so amazed of everything. He was so sweet and genuine, treated us like family and kissed us on the cheek farewell when we left. The tour and story takes about 10 – 15 minutes, then the rest of your time there is to take photos and explore the place on your own. I believe the whole appointment took an hour which was more than enough time!

When driving down Palms Blvd in magical Venice, this masterpiece is hard to miss. Quirky, fun, colorful, and unique characteristics makes this home truly one of a kind. At a first glimpse of the Mosaic Tile House, you may feel overwhelmed and confused as you stare in awe trying to fully comprehend what you’re looking at. But if you take the tour you’ll learn that every aspect of the art has a story, and it’s very important to pay attention to all the tiny details so you don’t miss a beat. The passionate couple known as Cheri Pann and Gonzalo Duran, created this eclectic yet peculiar house and continue to make changes. Their work is something to be strongly admired as this place is unlike anything else I’ve ever seen. Tours of the mosaic tile house cost $ 12 and are by appointment only.
