Came in to Venice Interiors today. They were referred by an upholstery supply company, R and R on So. Western, in L.A. I had a very specific need for upholstery repair — my wife and I were house sitting for an old friend in Santa Monica. We had a dinner party at which, one of our other old friends, broke the webbing on one of our friends’ and hosts’ dining chairs. How to fix? An odd, one-​off repair, not really worth the time of most upholstery shops — having sourced the correct webbing material from R & R, for $ 1, and referred to Carlos at Venice Interiors, Carlos most graciously fixed the chair in 5 minutes and charged us exactly — nothing. This is what America is all about. Venice Interiors is great. 100% recommend.

I needed bar stools and a custom fitted window seat recovered. Freddie was very nice and helpful when I came in. They did a wonderful job. I am so happy with their work. The piping looks amazing. The stools are complicated because I chose a plaid material. They did a great job lining up the plaid. Cesar, the owner, is so nice and knowledgeable.
I am really happy with their work and the quality of the finished product. I would highly recommend Venice Interiors to anyone.

On a trusted friend’s recommendation, we brought our 11 foot modern sectional (originally from B&B Italia) to Venice Interiors. We needed durable fabric because of kids and a large dog, and Freddy helped us choose a durable indoor Sunbrella material. He also made dust mite covers beneath the slip covers. We were hesitant to make slip covers because we wanted a polished look, and he was able to do both. The couch arrived a week early and looks PERFECT. Also, his bid was at least $ 500 under the other 3 bids we got. Pick-​up and drop-​off was no extra charge and easily arranged. Great Experience… We’ll Be Back!

My local Venice girlfriend referred me to Venice Interiors. From the moment we walked in Freddie was extremely professional, helpful and kind. We had a slipcover couch and chair re-​done. I picked out fabric and when I got home realized it wasn’t what my heart wanted… I am picky. He told me that he wants me to LOVE and be happy with this long awaited project, so come back in and let’s make it what you want. Phew, he was so helpful and over the top nice. He picked the furniture up the morning he scheduled and brought it back, looking like a brand new couch and chair, the day he said he would. Freddie even added more feather stuffing to our worn cushions and it came back revived and wonderful like when we bought it new. I was so happy, and he said it made his day seeing the expression of joy on my face! I LOVE the work they do (and I am very picky) and I LOVE Freddie. He is an amazing man doing incredible work in the world!!!

Great service, great craftsmanship, great for price! Took a couch bottom cushion in for reupholstery — told me it would be a week and they had it done in 3 days!!! Love it when someone over-​delivers!!! Highly recommended!!!

I was referred here by a friend. I had a small job– 2 cushions for a chair. The bid was fair, the work done before expected time, got a call to let me know about early pickup, and the quality is excellent. Freddy is professional — efficient with those customers who are pros and patient with those I saw who are selecting fabrics and have a thousand questions. I had a fabric with a difficult line pattern to match and they did a very good job of matching the pattern not only cushion to cushion, but the front & sides as well.

We recently brought our 6 sad Danish teak dining room chairs to Venice Interiors for reupholstering because of damage to the fabric from our cats. Freddy was wonderful and allowed us to borrow his fabric samples to choose the best color and material. I brought the chairs in on Saturday and was told that the job would require 2 weeks. I asked him to try to finish 1 chair sooner so that my wife could see it before she went out of town. I received a call on Tuesday informing me that all 6 chairs were ready. The quality of the work was first rate. The chairs looked like new. I would highly recommend this business to anyone seeking to have furniture redone or custom made. I found an old junked out chair and thought it would be a great candidate for some rehab. I called the Brass tack since they are close to my house and they told me to send them some pictures and they could give me a quote. I took some pics and they emailed me back a quote and said he could do it for surprisingly cheap if I used some of the fabrics thye already had in stock. I swung by on Monday and found a good bit of fabrics and chose one that I liked. I mentioned that I wanted to update the style a bit and get rid of some of those dated upholstery nail things and have some piping put on. The owner or manager was a nice guy and he said it would probably take about 2 weeks. he didn’t need a down payment or anything. He just gave me a receipt and I was on my way. I figured two weeks would give me enough time to stain and refinish the wood work that went with the piece. Well 4 days later I got a call and he said the chair was done. I came by and the chair looked mint! They did a way better job than I had imagined. They went above what they said they would do and replaced the worn batting and the chair looks and feels brand spanking new.

I am a local business owner selling custom vintage furniture, and I take all of my re-​upholstery work here. They are friendly, the prices are unbeatable and I am always thrilled with the results. They can do anything. This is a fantastic resource for interior designers and furniture enthusiasts!

I recently brought in a Crate & Barrel couch slipcover to be replicated and I can’t sing enough praises about the amazing job they did. The slipcover looks even better than the original. Not to mention, they did it for a very fair price. When I called Crate & Barrel the quote they gave me for replacing the slip cover would’ve cost more than the couch itself originally cost! Brass Tack had a wide variety of fabric and I picked one I am so happy with. I also had several pillowcases I bought in morocco that were all odd measurements and had small openings for a fill pillow to be inserted. They made me 10 custom pillow fills and stuffed the pillows which look awesome. Not to mention they did this QUICK, I needed it done in a week and they were able to finish before that deadline. They do pick up and delivery which is super convenient. Overall such a GREAT job. I am happy to have brought them my business and will continue to do so.

I was a little hesitant to use the Brass Tack because the outside of their building isn’t very nice, and I have expensive Crate and Barrel couches. I decided to give them a shot anyways since they offered me a drastically lower price than about 5 other places nearby.
THEY DID A PHENOMENAL JOB!
The quality of the work is amazing. It’s been over a year and my couches are still in great condition. They picked up/​delivered them. The entire process took about one week. They made me throw pillows with the extra fabric (per my request). Our couches look fabulous!

These guys were great! I needed some trimming on some blackout fabric and it was getting closed to 5 pm their closing time. They waited for me and quickly did the work and didn’t even charge me. Very friendly guys, I will definitely go back. Thank you!

Wow– This place is so awful– morally bankrupt– 100,000% bait and switch!
A few days ago I needed to get a sofa cushion re-​upholstered– the cushion was 6′ x 27″ x 6″. I called and spoke with the owner and here’s how this went:
Me: «Hi there, I have a sofa cushion that measures 6′ x 27″ D x 6″ T. I want a quote to get it reupholstered.»
Him: «Okay, so it’s a cushion that’s 6′ x 27″ D x 6“T?»
Me: Yes.
Him: «What kind of fabric do you like?»
Me: «I have a cowhide, with fur I would like to use– I also have the fabric for the underside of the cushion. All I need is the labor»
Him: «Okay, okay, that’ll cost $ 80. No more than $ 80.»
Me: «Fantastic, I’ll be there in about an hour.»
So when I arrive to the shop, the owner approaches me and says, «Oh you must be Laney.» Yes I replied, and shook his hand. His employee then helped me carry in the cushion and cowhide, I carried in the backing. He laid everything out, then asked the owner in Spanish (kind of crappy considering everybody there spoke perfectly fine English) How much for the labor.
The owner said something back– I didn’t understand, then the guy said; «Oh, that’s going to cost at least $ 250.»
What?!
I said «Uhm… Didn’t you say $ 80?»
The owner said: «Oh, well you said the cushion was 58″, not 6′.»
Me: «No, definitely not. I said 6′. You even repeated it back.»
Him: «Nope, you said 58.»
Me: Definitely not. Why would i say 58″ when I know very well it’s 6′?“
Him: It’s $ 250.
Of course I said that what they were doing was wrong. The guy was just an ass and huffed off. I took my cushion, hide, and fabric and promptly left.
Maybe it was my Louis Vuitton purse– who knows– but even if I said it was 58″ (which I totally did not– I 100% said 6′) but lets just say I did say it was 58″… how in the heck does the price jump from $ 80 to $ 250 over a difference of 14″?
Ridiculous– buyer beware– these people aren’t upholsterers, they’re fisherman… looking for their next bait and switch!

I don’t know what this person below was going on about but I have been working with Brass tack since 1999. They are great. I am a professional interior designer, ASID and have been so happy with The brass tack. They may be rough around the edges, not a beautiful showroom, and I get that they aren’t too up to spead with E-​mail, but they have always done an amazing job for my clients!

I am sad to say that I am joining the other negative reviewers to warn people about Brass Tack’s deceptive practices. I go out of my way to support local businesses so when I needed some upholstery done, I went to Brass Tack and gave them a simple project to test thier skill level. Vinny and Freddie were very nice so I left my small ($ 50) job with them without obtaining a written quote. When I returned to pick it up, the work was completed well but they now wanted $ 200 payment for the job. I refused and said I would pay only the $ 50 quoted or I would simply leave the fabric behind. They finally gave in and I left with my item after paying $ 50. I was thankful I had not given them a bigger job right away. What if they had held my item ransom until I paid them more money? For bait and switch tacktics, they get 1 star.
