I went to order at this place and was told cash only so I walked to their ATM, that is not working and painted everywhere hard to see the screen. The ATM processed for 15 minutes and still didn’t give me my cash, after searching for an ATM for 20 and finding one that was able to work they did not speak English or had my food ready.

Not great, but not terrible. Decided to try this place because they get good reviews here on Unilocal, and I was in the area. Ordered just one pupusa with spinach and cheese, with a side of slaw, and chipotle hot sauce. It was ok. My main complaint is that they were pretty skimpy with the spinach and cheese filling which I found only in the center of the thick tortilla. There was NO filling towards the outside edges of the tortilla, so I ended up with filling for only about half of what I ate. [see picture] Once the filling was gone, only the bland tortilla was left which really needed the hot sauce to be enjoyable. I’ve had pupusas before that had five times as much filling so I could taste the filling in every bite through to the end. Not here, sadly.
On the bright side, the woman who took my order was very nice, and the slaw was pretty good. Lastly, while waiting for my pupusa, I saw them preparing other dishes that looked pretty good, so I’ll probably give them another try.

I am very picky about Teriyaki… I dont like the sauce to taste like soy sauce, or be thin and runny… I like the sauce thick and sweet… This is the BEST place ever… I live near San Diego County and love to go to this place… So goood… I miss it

This is the originator of the chicken bowl craze in my book its been here for decades. Yumi also has a not so secret dish… called …skins . so many people order their chicken without the skin that he decided to sell them … on their own over a scoop of rice … it used to be a buck or 2 back in the day and it was really good with a beer. and no you can not drink on the beach. you got to be stealthy. foam cup. enjoy that chicken bowl .and ask to include the skin. thats the best way to go, grab a lil extra sauce and be sure to hit it with a lil sriracha

I ate at this place a few months ago and it wasn’t very memorable. I would eat here again, but only if I was dying for teriyaki and I didn’t have a car to go anywhere else. Don’t mean to be harsh or mean. Just honest…

No doubt this is the best teriyaki i have ever had my whoooooole life. and i sure have had alot of teriyaki. ive been going to this place for over 10 years and its been consistant everytime. the location sucks but its interesting. Remember the movie, «BloodSport?» walking to yumi’s is like walking to the Kumite!!! hahahahahahhahaha Theres a building with a long hall way. in that hallway theres thai food, indian food, burgers, chinese, at the far end on the left side is Yumi’s, and next to it is the $ 1 pizza place. @ yumis they have teriyaki chicken, and teriyaki beef. i usually order the combo with both, ex the salad and get an extra scoop of rice. she tops it with extra tery sauce and offers you Tapatio. when she does, take it and drench cause nothing says Bomb Ass teriyaki other then mexican spice on it. ooooh yeah. now youre in Teriyaki Heaven… say hi to the angels for me. and yes its under $ 10 bucks.
