Delightful BYOB on Dorset Ave. Attentive staff. Full menu including eggplant stack — mozzarella, tomato and eggplant. Beet salad with arugula, and many other choices Entrée menu includes pastas, lamb chops, veal chop, cacciatore, fishes. We were a party of five. Everyone had a different entrée and each was delicious. I high recommend this lovely restaurant. Bravo to the chef! Well done.

Food was very good! We went for my birthday party of 10 women… Service was very good … Owner was very welcoming and appetizers & entrees were delicious! Would recommend to anyone wanting a great dinner! The waiter even went next door to the liquor store bc they were out of iced tea! What service!

I visited Red Room Café and was highly disappointed. With items labeled house made on the menu, I had high expectations. The calamari appetizer was bland and the breading was soggy. The rice ball appetizer was also sub par– the coating was soggy and drowned in sauce. I had the cavatelli pasta with zucchini, shrimp and clams. The pasta was stale, dense and undercooked, the zucchini was almost totally absent and barely any clams or shrimp. Our waiter never came over to check on us OR ask us how the food was. Much better places to choose from in the area — don’t waste your time or money!

Never went to a restaurant that serve this small portion for entrée. It was lunch portion but I don’t think it fills anyone up. I got the chicken breast and it was literally 2 thin slice of chicken, not even a half of a chicken breast. I felt like food was too salty also. Service was okay, but it took like 20 minutes to get a different course meal. Even getting the dessert was 20 minutes. Their price are not cheap, I rather go somewhere else to pay the same price but larger portion food. They gave one tissue for each person to use, seems like they are cutting back on everything. I wouldn’t go there again, not worth my money.

OMG I had the best mushroom pasta here! It literally melted in my mouth! If I was at home, I would have licked the plate! The service here was exceptional as well. The restaurant is BYOB which I always love. My friend ordered the veal and couldn’t stop talking about how tender it was. I’m a vegetarian so her order grossed me out but hey, to each his own. The restaurant also offered us a complimentary zucchini side dish which was divine with the bread we were served. I will definitely return here, although I heard it gets very busy during during the summer months and reservations are recommended.

Had a incredible meal there tonight. Accommodated 15 of us for a bday party. Everything was fresh and homemade. Service was spot on and the owner Maria was so warm and welcoming. Veal was tender, gnocchi melted in ur mouth, and the crab meat pasta with the homemade fettuccine was to die for. The homemade desserts where a defiantly must do !

I was skeptical based on the reviews, but honestly a lot of them seem totally off-base. We went over Labor Day weekend so it was definitely a full crowd but the staff was attentive and friendly(lots of check-ins, water always full, no long waits to clear/bring food). Definitely seems like a family-run shop which gives it character. Ordered Suppli(which were amazing), Caesar Salad(could use more dressing and less cheese, but still good) and one of their homemade pasta dishes, Fettuccine Michelle, which was so good — even my husband who is not a seafood eater was picking the leftovers off my plate since the pasta and sauce were that good. He got the Caesar and Bone-in veal special(said it was a bit overdone but still enjoyable). We left full, no room for dessert. I’m excited to go back, lots of items on the menu I wanted to try and saw others enjoying. If you’re hesitating — give them a shot yourself!

We went out to eat this evening with my wife and three of my cousins. We had been to the Red Room previously and had a wonderful time — the food was delicious, the outdoor atmosohere was great and the service — very friendly and professional. However, on a weekday evening we still found the food very tasty but either the wait staff was somewhat out of it or overwhelmed. We were not told of any specials until we asked, it took quite some time to get served, I had to ask for wine to be opened and I only had one beer(i do not drink wine) since I felt as if it was an inconvenience to ask for a bottle opener. We still left a more than reasonable. Tip in cash but since a tip is supposed to signify a thank you for good service I almost felt like a hypocrite and therefore you have this review. Previously, I would have highly recommended this restaurant, now I am glad that I did not make that recommendation. I doubt we will return. Allen R from Voorhees

Fabulous service. Wonderful people. The gnocchi melted in my mouth. I would have had 3 courses of pasta if the chocolate ravioli was available for dessert tonight.

Not close to being good pre cooked pasta with sauce or gravy over spiced not fresh the veal dish two of us had was tough, the greens were not bad but the server nice guy but not prepared to know the specials or how they were supposed to be prepared and the cigarette smoke coming from his clothes was enough for us to leave not going back they need to clean it up and have servers that have an interest

Very disappointing. Menu looked promising, but the waiter did not bring what I ordered. When I finally got my order the rest of my party was done there meal. Food was below average. No apologies from the staff or management for screwing things up. There are many other better choices in the area.

We eat here over and over. Great food homey atmosphere. Owners are also the chefs. It is a hidden treasure. A Ventnor gem! BYO is also a plus. Make resos. Try this family place. You will not be disappointed! In the winter try the pizza. It is the best on the island If it’s not on the menu(which is extensive) they will make it for you. Just ask!

This is one of our all time favorite Italian restaurants. We have dined there quite a lot and all their food is delicious and consistently great. Service is impeccable. BYOB. Homemade pasta is fantastic & made fresh every order. I highly recommend you try this little ventnor gem. Make sure to get reservations!

My dad’s obsessed with the red room. He always wants to go there for every occasion. We have never had a bad experience here and the staff is all super friendly. The food is also very good as well. It’s a tiny place but has a good atmosphere.

Kicked off 2015AC restaurant week with a sunday lunch at the Red Room Café. Enjoyed a tasty meatball starter, a wonderfully prepared chicken vincenzo and the homemade cannoli all within a friendly and casual warm atmosphere.

Expecting an upscale dining experience I was disappointed. My food was served cold, was overpriced, and the service was mediocre. When informed of my dissatisfaction the chef/owner was abusive and rude. When told that the sauce on the pasta dish was served cold the waiter informed me that I was wrong. It was only after I suggested he taste it did he reluctantly return with a hot order of sauce which I was now apparently expected to pour over my now cold pasta. When I was not offered an apology or a replacement for the unsatisfactory meal I requested an adjustment to the bill. My dinner companions were also subjected to inadequacies such as beverages ordered but not delivered, and side dishes not served with the entrée . When the bill was presented for our party of six the charge for my uneaten meal was removed however the bill reflected not only an overcharge for salads that we had ordered but a 20% gratuity was added for service of my uneaten meal in addition to the undeserved 20% gratuity for my companions meals. When the discrepancy in the bill was pointed out the owner loudly and rudely criticized me for my complaint. It was as if I should have not had the audacity to point out the inadequacy of my meal or the discrepancy in the bill. A totally unsatisfactory experience !!!

We purchased in Ventnor just prior to Sandy, and our first visit to the Red Room was 4th of July this year. We have frequented many of the local upscale eateries, ie: Steve n Cookies, Tomatos, Docks, Johnnys… and so on… After reading some of the reviews about this restaurant, I was shocked, and felt compelled to share our experience. Sorry for the length in advance, but I wanted to explain why we went back 2 weeks later. Let me start by saying that we have visited the Red Room twice in July 2014. The restaurant is on the small size, but cozy(I would guess 20 tables in total). Unlike several of the restaurants listed above, I felt the tables were not crammed in, and the volume level was low. On our first visit with my wife and daughters(2), we were seated almost immediately, and greeted by server with warm fresh bread and olive oil with spices to dip. We had brought our own spirits, so the waiter opened my wife’s wine, and brought glasses for the Wine and Scotch. The menu is varied with selections of seafood, pasta, and meat, plus specials, cooked in Italian style. We started with an order of Calamari and Red Room Caprese. I don’t remember how long it took for our apps to come out, but we surely hadn’t finished our first drink. The Calamari was good, and the Caprese was tasty. For our main course, my wife and I split our entres, I ordered a Veal chop off the special menu and she ordered the soft shell crabs. My daughters ordered the shrimp and Crab meat over pasta and the talapia and crab. The Veal chop came out Med Rare as ordered, and the sauce was delicious. The soft shell crabs were cooked appropriately. The shrimp and crab entrée was the winner of the evening. It was made in a tasty blush sauce and was covered with lump crab meat(I dont understand how they made money on this entrée). I’m not a huge fish lover, but my daughter liked the Talapia. The portions were large enough that we had no room for desert and brought home leftovers. We did not experience any of the complaints that others had reviewed. The help was friendly and attentive, the prices compared to the other restaurants I listed above, and the food quality was above average… with the benefit of BBYO !! My wife and I returned for a second visit and had a similar experience. We will surely return.

My Italian-American organization, UNICO, has had several meetings here. We always have a wonderful time. It is BYOW, and the food has always been good. I have enjoyed several meals that based on pork, poultry and steak.

Italian restaurant that smells like a dirty towel? Yup. Throw a sauté pan with oil and garlic and make this place smell like a restaurant should. Pizza ovens? no pizza on the menu. could be a super cute place. calling gordon ramsey!

Great for medium sized parties, red room café serves more than a regular café; as a matter of fact, it’s nothing like a café. The menus weren’t extensive, but they were definitely interesting. Kudos to the servers who need to remember the menus, and most especially the specials which were mind boggling. After her rundown of the 3rd special of the day, I just wanted to order it all since they all sounded so good. So upon reading previous reviews, I have to give this place a 4.5 since there is no other place like this in the Ventnor area. You would need to drive to Atlantic City into a Casino for something that would also cost a heckuva lot more. Red Room Café is great for larger parties since it’s an atmosphere that caters to friends and families in groups, and the height of dinnertime definitely made some challenging conversations since it was quite loud. Nonetheless, the food was executed properly, and with the exception of 2 stray penne’s in my linguini dish, it was quite tasty. The kitchen staff actually came out in between dishes and made sure everyone was good, they were even introduced to a few tables. Would I go there again? Sure, as a matter of fact, it was the second time there this year.
