I found the place(no pun intended) by accident riding up the 33 heading towards Santa Maria. The food and pies are excellent! Will be back!

Seriously, where else can you find a pie that good out here? So, they’ve got Narwahl imperial stout on draft, nuff said about beer. Great burgers and some options on the meat. Venison, elk; not on every roadside bar’s menu so it got me in. Friendly folks running the place and they seem to throw a lot of good parties out there. I left my email and they send me invites to the«All you can eats» as well as special meals. They’ve also got a tally on the board for the number of bikers who stop in and when they reach a certain number, there’s a party for us bikers. So, get on your bikes and ride on out.

GREAT !!! No need to say more. Plus Encore westerns on the TV. We have been there before and will be back. Terrific burgers and homemade pies also.

Fantastic little place with great food and a nice atmosphere. Makes for a great ride destination. If you call ahead, you can plan a BBQ for a group — we had nearly 40 people and the food was ready on time, very good, homemade pie, and good service. Recommend it!

What a fun place this is! We finally got out there today after hearing so much about it and really enjoyed ourselves. The owners are on premises and make you feel right at home. They have Arrogant Bastard on tap which rocked and we started with the jalapeño bottle caps. Fiery and went perfectly with the beer. We ordered both the Elk burger and the Buffalo burger with fries and onion rings. The burgers were wonderful. The atmosphere is 70’s ish, very comfortable and there is outdoor seating available which is dog friendly. We will definitely come back with our dog in tow! And they have all you can eat nights for 12.00 and you can camp on their back lot and stay the night.

Does anyone know of the camping area here? Years ago there was an area for RV’s, is it still there?

Ditto to what Oliver said. My words exactly. I can’t wait for my next ride to Ventucopa. The Place is most definitely the place to stop at while on a ride in the middle of nowhere. Good beer on tap, too. Cheers to you all at «The Place»

I was with some friends on a road trip and we stopped here today. It was a balmy 50 degrees in Ventucopa on this Sunday, and it felt like it. We popped into The Place, some of our group had been there before. First and foremost they had a fire going and which nice to thaw out our hands and other delicate areas. The folks running the place were kind enough to let us pile our gear on a table in the corner and we took a big table by the door. Coffee was hot and plentiful, but I don’t drink it so I won’t attest to its quality. Our orders were taken timely and they were very accomodating to those people maybe not ordering straight from the menu. I didn’t have much time to check the menu, so I went with The Place Burger. Cheese burger with a green chili and bacon. Bacon? How can it be bad. Food came out accurately and reasonably quick. They brought the plates out as they were ready which was nice when you have a big’ish group, that way no one’s food is cold or heat lamped to death. Burger was good. Seasoned well. The chili and bacon gave it good texture and flavor without being overpowering. Fries were meh. Had some mild seasoned salt on them. Apparently they have awesome pie but I did not partake. Couple of our guys got the blackberry(which is supposed to be awesome), and the apple looked pretty good also. I got out for $ 10 with tip for burger and no drink. The man and woman running the place were very accomodating and kind, laughed at our stupid jokes and immediately fixed an order that didn’t come out perfectly(wrong side, no big deal). I wouldn’t go out of my way to get there, but if you’re in Ventucopa, you’d be hard pressed to do better. No really, you would, there’s only like 2 restaurants. I look forward to visiting The Place when it warms up a little.

We were driving all the way down Hwy 33, and stopped for coffee and a snack in this Place in the middle of nowhere(or Beautiful Downtown Ventucopa, same thing). It was great! First up, it looked like The Place that Time Forgot; from the river-rock shack exterior to the stag’s head over the door and the raven silhouette in the rafters, it was like stepping into a bygone era. The host, Alick, was friendly, the coffee good, and the bean soup, instead of being the microwaved-stuff-from-a-can that’s standard at roadside places, was made from scratch. «I soaked the beans,» Vicky(the other half of Vicky and Alick’s place) told us. Charming. If we drive that way again, it’s one of our for-sure stops.

Wow, I am the first one to Unilocal this place! I have been to this place«The Place» this weekend, it was really the place to go because there was no other place around where you could eat or get a cold one. So «The Place» is really the place to go!!! I had to give this one 5 stars, just for its originality, the waiter, the location, the old tractor left from the 20’s across the street, just everything, you feel like you are stuck in time. The food was OK for a place like this, but after riding through the HOT mid day sun, the beautiful Canyons with their just sheer amazing scenic view, and your tongue is already hanging out touching your fuel tank, you know that it is time for a rest. This place first appears like an illusion in the torchering desert sun, before you realize that this place is real and that«The Place» serves ice cold beer. And you won’t believe how good an ice cold beer can taste after riding your Harley for a couple hours — you’re right it tastes damn fu… good!!! =;-) Everybody was so nice, if you have the chance to get out of the LA jungle, «The Place» is definitely the place to go! Enjoy — Prost!
