Bill Hahn’s Automotive

Just called to make an appointment, talked to Josh. He took the time to go through my questions, (even though I am an inexperienced consumer), he made it easy to do business. I made an appointment for tomorrow (2÷4÷16).

Well the car was ready before promised. Price was exactly as quoted — Josh recently bought the business and is creating a following.

I call Bill my, «Jeep Whisperer.» Bill has been taking care of me and my old Jeep Liberty for 4 years now. I always call for scheduled maintenance appointments a week in advance because he’s busy and for good reason! He always advises me on upcoming maintenance and he’s thorough and very reasonable. I just read a strange review from a woman claiming he treats women poorly? Surprise to me! He’s always been over-​and-​above respectful and even protective of me and my car. For example: I wasn’t able to pick up my car until late in the day after he left. Bill trusted me, his loyal customer to pay him later. Also, a few months ago, I called him at the end of his day with a flat tire. He had me bring it in immediately, pulled out a nail, repaired the tire and sent me on my way in 20 minutes, NO CHARGE. If you’re looking for a no-​nonsense, honest mechanic, you’ve found him.

Have been dealing with Bill over twenty years and he will always makes it right! From sending him fleet work to my personal vehicles. There have been a few situations where he was so busy i decided to go elsewhere and have always regret that choice. My only complaint is there is not two of him to go around. THANKS BILL!!!

It took them six months to fix my car, because they were «busy» Bill and his staff were condescending to me. If you are a woman you will be treated like you are an idiot. Go else where. I had a horrid experience. I will never forget how awful this mechanic is.

The day before I was planning to drive to they East coast, my trusty Honda started squeaking awfully. Mr. Hahn quickly took a look, lubed up the front ball joint and sent me on my way for a great price. It was an unexpected delight to have such prompt and honest service.

What a nice guy! Honest, thorough… been using Bill for close to 20 yrs. How refreshing to see pictures of his family hanging in his office ~ not the usual girly pictures in most mechanic’s office/​garage!!! The ONLY down fall is now that he has been named Ventura’s number 1 mechanic for years, he’s gotten so busy– it’s hard to get an appointment and in and out quickly.

Mr. Hahn is a seasoned pro, thoughtful and quietly smart about the work he loves, gentlemanly and honest as of bygone times. Bill zeroed in on my car’s subtle chronic problem, and cured it — simple.
Don’t fret! Go to Mr. Hahn’s shop!

Please do not take your car to Bill so I can get mine done first. Bill is old school honest, reliable, trustworthy, and a good man.

Bill is a great mechanic; he gives fair prices, is pretty quick, and is very personable. The guys working for him also know what they are doing and are equally friendly. I will never go to a franchise again.

I took my car in because I had heard good things about this place. I was extremely disappointed. It took 7 weeks for them to finish my car! They never called me to update me on its progress. I had to call them to find out any information. I will not take my car here again.

I have been taking my car to Bill Hahn for about 20 years… he has always been honest and done a great job… but the last few years the service has gone down hill. I needed repairs done on my car that prevented me from passing a smog test. Twice he asked me to bring my car in and both times he never got around to looking at it, so I left in the same shape as I arrived… with a car that needed repair.
Bill is a great guy but I feel he has lost his edge or is overworked. The last 3 to 4 times I took my car in it was not a good experience. I am now in the process of looking for a new mechanic.

I would only recommend bringing Bill your vehicle if you have a spare mode of transportation that you are able and willing to use for an extended period of time, and are willing to be over charged.
A few years ago I paid him over 900 $ to a new clutch on my hatchback, And it took a week.
Decided to give him another chance recently, had no compression in a cylinder on my truck. Wanted him to check it out, he quoted me «Up to $ 1000, depending on the hours I have to put into it» Long story short, he kept the truck for 5 weeks, never notified me of status, I had to call him every week. At the end of the fifth week I towed it home and finished fixing it myself…
Bill DOES NOT give written quotes, or repair orders. You don’t sign any paper work limiting what he can charge you to do. It is all word of mouth, very unprofessional.
The only reason I gave him 1 star is because there isn’t any option to give none.

When we first moved to Ventura we needed a new mechanic, which can be a scary process. I would love to say that, as guy, I was born with the automobile repair gene but is must have skipped a generation so finding a mechanic I could trust was paramount and I found that in Bill.
Bill not only knows his stuff but he is everything a mehcanic should be and more. What I like about Bill is that he will tell you what you need to do now and what can wait. In addition everytime Bill has worked on our cars the charges have always been lower than what we expected.
And to give you an idea of how awesome Bill is, one day I was hearing some strange noise in my car and panic set in, I called Bill and he said to stop by when it was convenient. When I got their he came out on the street took a quick lesson and quickly diagnosed that my power steeriing fluid was leaking. He replaced it, and topped off my oil, at no charge statiing that I would probably want to get it fixed at some point;-)
Bill is a class act all the way I can’t recommend him enough.

Bill Hahn is an honest mechanic. I don’t know much about cars other than their make and model. Open up the hood, and I couldn’t tell you what’s what.
I recently moved to Ventura, and didn’t know where to take my car when it broke down. I initially called a different auto repair shop, but they sounded so rude to the phone, that I changed my mind.
I ended up calling Bill Hahn because I’ve read so many good reviews. My car had a clicking sound every time I turned the ignition on. AAA came by twice and told me that the battery was fine even though they had to jump started my car twice in an 18 hour period. Twice they told me that the problem is NOT the battery and to take the car to a mechanic. Mr. Hanh took a look at my car, and after a couple hours, he called me to say that the problem was the battery. We called AAA, they compared readings, and sure enough, AAA was reading it wrong. They ended up replacing my battery. Mr Hanh didn’t charge me a cent because he said AAA should have replaced the battery the first time I called.
Thank you Unilocalers for recommending a great, and honest mechanic. I’ll be recommending Mr. Bill Hahn to everyone I know.

I went to take my car in because I wanted my suspension fixed and my exhaust fixed. Bill took a look at my suspension and said that its fine and I didn’t need to do anything to it and he said my exhaust leak wasn’t significant enough to fix at all.
If I took my car to any other mechanic they would have jumped all over what I asked and charged me over 1000 $ to fix both things. Bill was honest and overall just a great guy. Its nice to find someone honest now and days. I will never take my car to anyone else ever again. This guy is officially my mechanic.

I took a punt based on others Unilocal reviews and wasn’t disappointed at all. Bill is the genuine honest helpful mechanic you wish you’d always known
I’m new to ventura and had been to a few franchise auto repair shops and got the standard B.S. about what needed to be done and the urgency of it. Bill took the time to listen to me on the phone and give as good an indication as he could then said he could have a look at it that same day!

He’s clearly not in it for the money, I got the feeling he loves what he does and cares about his customers. He could easily have told me I needed to spend $ 1000+ ASAP as I was upfront about my ignorance and what other shops had already quoted me… Instead he inspected the car when I arrived, told me what the problem was, how much it would cost (less than anywhere else I’d been). He was busy but straight forward and said when he could fix it (that afternoon).
When I came back to pick it up there was a long line of satisfied happy customers that seemed to know him well. Anyways he replaced the master cylinder fixed the brake pedal and flushed the lines then charged me (a guy he’d never met before) less than what he quoted earlier that day… I’ve lived in 4 countries and had several vehicles serviced by numerous mechanics over many years and that is a first!
He’s a family man, and I’m happy to support local small hardworking business over big corporations.

Bill’s a real gem. Honest, competent, personable. What I find amazing is how often he refuses to do work that is unnecessary. I came to him for my 30k mi service (5 year old car) and he only checked out the car and did an oil change. He said I did not need to flush my radiator, change my brake fluid, battery, etc. – things that the «parts changers» all push me to do simply because they are listed on their scheduled maintenance books. My only hesitation with posting a review is that he’ll get more business and make it harder for me to see him!

Bill Hahn himself, a master auto mechanic in his own right, will work on your car. You will be in good hands. He will do a superb job, charge you the least possible amount, get ‘er done quickly, and he will also give you that priceless advice that will help you make good decisions. You will be happy. How often can one say this about any auto repair shop?

I thought I needed to have my car realigned, but Bill said to bring it in to see what was really going on. He took a 5 minute look at the tires and quickly found out that the problem was that Firestone had installed a tire without the weight and therefore, one of the tires was unbalanced. He told me I should take it back to Firestone and have them rebalance it. Also identified another tire that needed to be replaced. He was very friendly, helpful, and didn’t charge me anything. I will definitely go back to his shop next time my car needs some work!

Bill Hahn’s Automotive is as good as they come. I’ve taken my cars there on 3 occasions. They’ve never done anything that wasn’t absolutely necessary, and on at least 2 occasions they’ve recommended not doing something they thought wasn’t necessary. In each case, the fix was what was needed, nothing more, nothing less.
The only thing you should note is their lengthy turnaround time. And occasionally I had to call a few times to get them to finish up the repair.
