This place really is great if you want to buy something brilliant for the kids and the big kid that I am. They’ve got fun kites, wind socks and toys. The beach is two minutes away so we didn’t have far to go to have all the fun!

Worth a visit. Not your usual cheap souvenir shop. I would make a special trip to Harbor Village just to go to this store. If you plan to go anyway, don’t miss it. Spectacular kite selection and many other fun things for sale as well.

Awesome for any kite lover! I am one, and wanted to get a big fancy one after just stumbling into the shop. Very grand selection and info given if need. So many things to learn. They also have garden décor, souvenirs and some other unique things. It’s located in Ventura Harbor Village and the beach is right across the street. Wow… do you see how a spontaneous kite flying experience could just happen? Do it! Check it out.

Amazing customer service!!! I was given a lot of great stunt kite advice. Was shown many different things as well as taken care of very well as i needed a part for my kite. The owner Bob Vines is welcome to my scotch collection any time as his knowledge is valuable to me. I cant wait to buy my new stunt kites in the near future from this shop. Ive lived in Ventura my whole life and have loved this shop since i was a toddler. Cant wait to get more knowledge from the expert kite enthusiast again soon. HIGHLYRECOMMENDED!!!

This is only the second time I’ve reviewed a business(the other time I gave 2 stars to a restaurant, and I was being generous). I feel compelled to write this review because the cream should rise to the top and this is the cream of the crop. They are an easy to find, friendly, knowledgable, competitively priced, product and service driven kite store. This means that from the minute you walk through the doors you will find the helping hands of both Bob and his wife(sorry I didn’t get her name) reaching out to explain, and answer any questions you have about kites and other fun toys. I had wanted to learn about kite flying for years and perhaps take up flying as a hobby. Bob spent about an hour answering all my questions while confidently reassuring me that kite flying would become a therapeutic experience in no time with his tutoring. Bob helped me with every aspect(from folding and unfolding to flying and tricks). Today(two months later) I am an avid kiter and enjoy flying at least two to three days a week for an hour or two. I’ve used flying for fun and recreation as well as for therapy and exercise. I needed a repair so Bob gave me a loaner kite for the day he spent repairing my kite. Then when I came to pick up my kite I was incredibly surprised that there was. «no charge». Not only that but he offered for me to take the loaner kite home with me to fly for a few days! In today’s world where bad service and poor products are the norm, it is a welcomed experience to do business with a true 5 start business. I HIGHLY recommend that you check out this store.

This store sells over-priced merchandize and is NOT child friendly. The owner is incredibly disrespectful and unloving towards children. We used to visit this shop twice a year on our vacations to Ventura, but will NEVER shop here again nor recommend this store to anyone.

I have experienced nothing but the absolute BEST customer service from the owner and employees at this store! This is one of my most favorite stores to shop at. If you need to know anything about kite flying, this is the #1 place. The owner, Bob, is very honest and helpful in regards to any questions I’ve had. He is always willing to help his customers with anything they need. There’s something in this store for everyone in the family to enjoy… even dogs! :) Overall, I’m very impressed by the owner, the customer service, and the quality of their products. I honestly LOVE this store!!!

Horribly rude! The owner is a huge jerk! Never ever go in this horrible store! My 2 yr old was just looking around while we were shopping for a kite and the owner said my 2 yr old was disrespecting his merchandise which is a load of crap. My son was just playing nicely with a toy car which we were most likely going to buy but the mean owner asked us to leave, I was so offended. I was supervising my child the entire time. I wasn’t letting him run wild he was just being a normal curious boy checking out the toys that were strategically placed within his reach. I’ll never step foot in this kite shop again and I suggest everyone steer clear from this anti child, hateful store. I am here every weekend so the owner is an idiot for losing my business.

Cool place to visit in the Ventura Harbor Village. We have a great ocean breeze along the coast in the 805 which makes for some great kite flying. A great variety of fancy flyers adorn the ceiling. The kite selection is plentiful and quite a range in complexity. The staff is friendly & helpful. Indicated they can help set up the kites too! In addition to kites, they stock ground spinners, toys, and other knick knacks to peruse through. Across the street is Surfer’s Knoll Beach which has a nice gust to get those things flyings. Checked in after we left & noticed there’s a Unilocal coupon. We’ll take advantage of that next time =)

I usually stick to reviewing restaurants but I just have to give these folks some love. We were camping on beach in Ventura for the weekend and had a miserable time trying to fly a two-string kite. The thing just would not stay up in the air for more than 30 seconds. We crashed it so many times that we broke off a piece. I was for chucking the thing. Then someone saw this place. We went in to buy a new kite; something that would actually fly. Buzz, the kite maestro, said no, the kite we had was perfectly fine, we were just clueless about how to fly it. He repaired the kite for us and then gave us a ½ hour tutorial on how to assemble and fly a two string kite. No kidding! A full ½ hour. He even gave us a kite flying test! He was very serious about it; we would not get the kite until we passed the test… He must’ve spent an hour on all of this and it cost us maybe 15 bucks. He didn’t charge for his lesson of course. Buzz has been flying kites for four decades and is a competitive kite flyer(didn’t know they had competitions, but anyway). He really knows his stuff. We headed straight for the beach, about 100 ft from his storefront, followed his instructions and WOW. Here was this kite that we had been cursing at all this time and look at it go… Kites are great fun but if you want anything more than a simple kite that you can hook up to your beach chair and forget about, you need to know how to fly it right. Visit Buzz. He will give you an education. Thanks Buzz :-)
